Babaji – Beyond Definitions – Part 3

Spirituality is the SPINE of Life...

Those who have ‘eyes’ will ‘see’. Others will not, because they have chosen ‘blindness.’ In the real world, there is nothing to prove, if one exists beyond ego. There is no one higher or lower. There is no one better or lesser. All are equal. Just like in earthly life, spiritual life depends on the baggage that we carry. Some carry heavy karmas, while some have lesser belongings. Those who have lesser baggage, travel faster. Baggage becomes more heavy when emotions rule life. It is lighter when spirit rules life. It is as simple as that. Simplicity is Godliness. Complications are terrestrial. The more complicated we are, the more terrestrial we are. And, all complications are our own unconscious creations. God has nothing to do with it.

Spirituality is the path of infinity and dissolution. The more we travel, the more we realize that there is much more to go. Then again, our expectations end at some point and gratitude replaces all the emotions. Just gratitude. Simple Gratitude. Nothing else remains. Then our expression becomes pure Unconditional Love. Our journey becomes smooth and effortless. We do not feel the distance anymore. In fact, the distance evaporates and disappears. The destination itself disappears. The journey culminates in perfect unity. So, as we travel further and further, all our mental images and preconceived notions start to dissolve and we start accepting things as they happen. This is perfect equanimity, unconditional surrender to the Lord Almighty. This is the path of our soul. This is the path of Shiva.

Character is Inherited from Past Lives....

Over life times, we have created a certain character, that we are expressing in this life. This can be called our basic constitution as well. When non-resistance happens in our inner space, when all internal frictions disappear, our basic constitution will start to melt. This is the beginning of nullification. This is the beginning of merger with the supreme, or dissolution. We go through various levels or states of samadhi, and finally, we dissolve completely into a stage where we know that we do not exist as separate from anything. Everything is us. We are everything. There are no independent identities or identifications. Deep bliss. Nothing else but bliss. The bliss of being Shiva. Shivoham.

The destiny that brought a tough, muscular, cowboy-like personality such as Richard into the path of Babaji, is his past life karma. The severe sadhana that he accomplished in his past life brought him to the great Master, after an initial period of delusion, even though he fell ignorant of his roots in this life. Babaji never lost grip of any soul that is connected to Him. He never lost track. He kept everyone together. It is the same kind of destiny that brought him and Babaji boy into my life too. The golden thread that connected all of us – is Babaji. I am sure, I will come across many more of my relatives, from the family of Babaji, during my further journey. Some will recognize our relationship, some will not, yet the journey will continue, until the river merges with the ocean.

The Guru of Babaji

An Artist's idea of Siddha Bhoganathar, the Guru of Babaji.

Lord Muruga of Palani Hills

Siddha Bhoganathar is considered to be the Guru of Babaji. His Samadhi is in Palani, Tamil Nadu. He is immortal, just like His famous disciple. Bhoganathar and His disciples are still supposed to be meditating inside the caves of the hills of Palani. It is also considered that Bhoganathar created the idol of Lord Muruga, the presiding deity of Palani Hill. The idol is made out of nine types of herbs or 9 poisons (Nava Paashaan), which individually have the capacity to kill, but if combined in a particular proportion, becomes the medicine for any type of disease. This is called Siddha Oushadh (Siddha Medicine). It is also said that Siddha Bhoganathar created the idol of Muruga in the form of the youthful Babaji, His favorite disciple.

I felt a deep urge to visit the shrine of Bhoganathar. When I reached Palani and climbed up the hill, it was already evening. Lots of people running all over the temple premises and shouting for no apparent reason, did not really suit my silence-oriented mind. I decided to pay my respects to the Great Master Bhoganathar at His samadhi and get out of the place. When I reached there, that place was also crowded. The queue was long. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry to go to Bhoganathar’s shrine. I went inside the temple, but could not sit and meditate there because of the crowd. So, I came out and found a relatively quieter place, on the side of Bhogar Samadhi. I sat there and meditated. It was almost 8pm.

Great Siddhas. What we know about them is nothing, compared to what we do not.

I paid my respects to the great Siddha. I also thanked Him for gracing the earth and blessing all of us. Suddenly, a hot stone fell on my thigh from nowhere. It hurt a bit. It was hot, as if taken out from an oven! I looked around to see if someone had thrown it at me. There was no one. From my thigh, it fell on the floor. I waited for some time for it to cool down, and then picked it up. The stone resembled a head of an elephant – Lord Ganesha!!! I was stunned and overwhelmed by the Grace of the Maha Siddha. I considered this as a tangible blessings from the Guru of Babaji. I was happy and satisfied. I put the stone in my pocket, brought it back to my parent’s home and kept it in their shrine. I started my journey down the hill to my hotel room. Before that, I had the darsan of Lord Muruga, the presiding deity of the temple and had a sip of the milk with which they bathe the idol. That milk is supposed to have the qualities of the siddha medicine. Siddha Bhoganathar is also considered to be Lao Tzu of China. One of the disciples of Bhoganathar is said to be Chinese. His name is Pulippani. Bhoganathar also created the Kaya Kalpa treatment which brings back youth and vitality in the old. There are many stories attached to Bhoganathar, the immortal Yogi. Let us prostrate at His Lotus feet….

Interesting Interventions

In 2009, I was preparing to return to Muscat, after attending a marriage in India. I decided to drop in and see Richard at his place. His place was on my way to the airport. I was not sure if he was there, as we had not communicated since long.  The train arrived just before sun rise and I landed up in town, early in the morning, checked into a hotel room, made myself fresh, had breakfast and then I called Richard. Usually, it is not very easy to get him on phone. When I called, he picked it up immediately and said: “I was expecting you. Was not sure if you will be coming here today or tomorrow.” I asked “When can I meet you?” He said “Right Now.” That’s it. I found his house in no time and once again, it was like old times. It was a great feeling to be with this son of Babaji. Both of us were overjoyed at meeting each other again. As soon as I sat down in his living room, within five minutes, the door bell rang and in came a friend of Richard called Alfred.

True Masters Represent the Eternal Truth...What we see or hear is nothing compared to what they actually are!!!

Alfred’s Story

I have never physically met Alfred before. We do not know each other at all. We never heard of each other too. He does not know that I exist at all. Still, three days before we met, he had a dream in which he distinctly saw me standing in a white robe, surrounded by many people. It was some kind of an initiation ceremony. Alfred was also sitting there. In the dream, I turned to him and said, ” I am coming to meet you. Do not worry.I will give you what you need.” Then the dream ended. Even though he explained this dream to Richard, they could not figure out the message in the dream. Since Alfred had not seen me before, the dream remained a mystery until he met me. The very next night, (the night previous to his meeting me) he saw another dream in which Sathya Sai Baba came and told him – as clearly as it would go, “I am sending Mohan to you. He will give you what you need.” This was again a mystery. He had no met anyone with the name Mohan as yet. And he also did not connect this dream with the one from the previous night. When he saw me in Richard’s house, it all suddenly clicked. He stood there in a shock, looking at me for a few seconds and then, without any formalities, said: ” GIVE ME.” I said: “Sit down. Let me prepare you to receive it.” He sat down, and Richard sat on the other side. And we started talking. As soon as I saw Alfred, I received an inner command to initiate him into Shaktipat. It became clear to me why I came to this town and why he appeared in front of me. The purpose was truly divine and this was completely and perfectly orchestrated by the Masters.

Alfred is a very sensitive man. He keeps away from everyone. He is very sensitive to energy and can see spirits and Masters effortlessly. He is also well connected to Babaji and he was brought to India by Babaji. Babaji and Sai Baba commune with him almost everyday. His belongs to the central part of America. He was supposed to go to Thailand the day he met me, as his Indian Visa was expiring and, due to some mis-understanding with his travel agent, his ticket got cancelled and was re-secheduled to fly the next day. The real purpose for this confusion was indeed our meeting.

Sai and His Vibhoothi Leela

Alfred’s story is also stranger than fiction. He was communing with Babaji and soon developed interest in Sathya Sai Baba. He felt a strong urge to meet Baba. He worked hard and amassed sufficient money to come to India and meet Baba. He worked for about two years to make himself free for this travel. Thus, he arrived at Sai Baba’s ashram. He was sitting in the crowd, eagerly awaiting Baba’s arrival. When he saw Baba, he was overwhelmed. It was indeed a Great Dream Coming True. Suddenly, in front of him, Baba materialised Sacred ash (Vibhoothi) from his hand and Alfred clearly saw Baba taking Vibhoothi out of a capsule hidden in a sleeve. He was heart broken. “Baba, a magician?! Did I come all the way to India spending all the money to see a magician?!” – his mind started racing. He was completely shattered. He rushed back to his hotel room, sat on a chair and cried his heart out. He felt betrayed and completely devastated. He was not sure how much time he cried. Meanwhile, he took a firm decision to pack and leave Puttaparthy the next day. Suddenly, he experienced the smell of Baba’s Vibhoothi and he lifted his head up to look. He was shocked to see Baba physically standing in the room, right in front of him!!! Baba gave him a hard slap on his cheek and said: “You Idiot, you think I am a magician? Do you think I brought you here to show you some magic? I constantly shake trees of faith to drop the dead wood and tamas. I wanted to disillusion some people who came to test me. They were sitting in front of you. They had no faith. They are not eligible to receive my grace or energy. That is why I created that scene. They will never come back. But you….. I brought you here. You stay” Baba patted his shoulder and disappeared. It took some time for him to recover from this great, unbelievable experience. But, he stayed. That night onwards, he meets Baba either astrally or physically, almost everyday. He started communing with Baba, constantly otherwise too.

Alfred steadily developed many powers. He could even read the minds of animals. He became so sensitive that he avoided all kinds of unnecessary interactions with people or any kind of get-togethers. He became more and more of an introvert. Richard was his closest ally. On this day, he had come to see Richard at his place and that is where we met. So, in his dream, Baba had told him that he is sending me to him. But, he was not aware that he will meet me at Richard’s place.

The Reason.... The End

We were sitting across from each other, when Alfred, at one point, asked: “Are you practicing Kriya Yoga?”

The Galaxy of Masters...One Tradition.

I said “No, I am practicing nothing in particular.” When asked why he asked this question, he said: “I could see almost all the Kriya Yoga Masters with you, working through you.” Richard intervened and said: “I saw it too. This links all of us. The same Masters, the same tradition. We are one family.” It was interesting how two Americans and I were discussing the intangible and subtle during this most unexpected meeting, at a strange location. Richard never allows anyone to enter his house unless he is convinced about the visitor’s energy. Alfred is very sensitive with energies as well.

A few minutes later, Alfred exclaimed: “Mohanji, something is happening in my body. I can feel my chakras expanding and contracting. I can feel the energy shifts. Bubbles are bursting within!” I said: “Please sit quiet and take it easy. I am working on you.” After one hour, I initiated him into Shaktipat. And while I was doing that, Richard, who was watching, went into a trance state. After the initiation, all of us meditated for some time. Then, they shared their experiences. Richard said: “Mohanji, I saw all the Kriya Yoga Masters, Babaji, Jesus, Sai Baba, Lord Dattatreya and many other Masters coming and going through you when you were initiating Alfred. The power and energy was so high that I was immediately shifted into another plane.” Alfred saw the same. He said: “Mohanji, I feel that it will not be easy to reach you sooner or later. I feel that Masters are preparing you for something much higher. More and more people will come to know about you.” Then, both of them told me a few things about my path and the future (actually, they only reiterated what Babaji had already told me in our earlier communions. This was like a re-confirmation for me, as both of them speak to Babaji as well as Sai Baba, regularly). Then I told Richard: “After my long communion with Babaji in Dubai, He has never come to me. Why is that?” Richard said: “Mohanji, do you know why Babaji is not so visible these days? He is observing silence. He does that, whenever he works on other planets or galaxies. He can operate at many places at the same time. He is truly omnipresent. But yes, He will come to you many times more. Babaji always keeps His promise. He has told you that He will reach you at the appropriate time. He will. Be patient. Just give it another year. That is the time for your maturing to the materials that He has delivered to you already. You need time to digest everything and live it, don’t you?” Even though he mentioned the last sentence as a joke, I understood the deeper meaning. True Masters never cram their disciples into indigestion. They allow time for the disciples to grasp, digest and grow.  We discussed many more things about Babaji, Baba and the tradition, and we parted after about four hours.

Babaji and a galaxy of Masters work relentlessly in order to bring up beings of lower consciousness. But, just like our soul never imposes its presence on us, they never impose anything on anyone. Once we prepare ourselves and become eligible, they appear and deliver unconditionally. Ego is the biggest barrier that we must cross. I never met or communicated with Alfred ever again, till date. And I have not communicated much with Richard too, after this meeting a few months ago. We meet astrally though.

The Shiva Experience

Inner Brightness - Flows Out

This is a slight deviation from my experience with Babaji. But, since I promised you that I will narrate my Shiva experience, with your permission, let me take the detour.

It was a day after my Birthday in 2007 – February 23rd. I was with my parents and decided to celebrate my birthday at a nearby ashram. I usually celebrate my birthday by feeding the poor children. However, that day, since morning, I was feeling dizzy. My head was spinning. I was feeling very uncomfortable and also was having a bit of nausea. I reached the ashram by evening. When I reached there, I was almost helpless as even my eye sight was blurred. I could not see people clearly. But, I behaved as natural as I could, to avoid unnecessary questions and explanations.  That morning, I had a deep urge to buy the book “Shiva Sutras”, without any particular reason. By 8pm, I spoke to the Swami of that ashram and told him that I am very much uncomfortable, without any apparent reason. He said: “Fine. Let’s take a walk and get some fresh air.”

The Mount Kailash Effect

He took me out and we walked to another house in the ashram complex, which is about 500 yards away. All I could remember was reaching that place, entering the hall and sitting down on a chair near a table.

Sacred Ash started coming out through the top of my head and then slowly falling down my body (Sacred Ash sprouting out of Sahasraara is a sign of burnt karmas. When the last remnants of karmas are getting exhausted, like a volcano, with high intensity, they are burnt and expelled through the Sahasraara. This is typical of Dattatreya Tradition). My body was transparent and huge bright light was glowing from within. My eye lids became golden. The light penetrated my clothes and was radiating to the outside world. I was expanded beyond description. Everything was within me. Mohan did not exist.

Dissolving into the Golden Consciousness

Viboothi kept flowing… There was no time or space. There were no gunas (attributes) such as Sattwa, Rajas or Tamas, there were no identities. Everything got erased in a split second. The need to return or come back was also not there… I do not know how much time I existed in that state. All I heard after some time was the voice of Swami shouting to other ashramites: ” Shiva is here!Come fast….Bring the camera.” I slowly started regaining my body awareness, but that took some time. I became aware that many people are around me. I became aware of the flash bulbs. Then, at one point, I opened my eyes.

Third Eye, Serpent and Sacred Ash, All so distinct...

I saw a lot of people in front of me. The first photo caught a slight glimpse of the brightness that was coming out from inside my body (Swami said that the brightness was so strong that initially he couldn’t allow anyone to enter as they (their nerve endings especially) would not be able to withstand this level of energy). The later photos just caught my physical frame with the Vibhooti, and the state after the experience. As it is said, “images can speak much more than words.” So, do enjoy the photos.

That experience tilted my consciousness. My awareness level changed. As of then, I started shifting to different awareness levels effortlessly.

When a seeker becomes the sought, his limited entity dissolves into that of unlimited nature. He becomes all pervading, completely lucid and transparent, vibrant, shining, subtly dynamic and exists in complete awareness. The momentary sourcing of data from the higher realms becomes effortless and continuous.

This is what I wrote soon after the Shiva experience:

The Unfathomable Infinity - SHIVA

When we touch the realms of Shiva, the Supreme, everything dissolves. Everything merges into one. It’s only a vast, expanded brightness, absolutely peaceful and all-knowing. All the planets, various suns, stars and various spheres of existence, become simply parts of the vast existence of Shiva, the Supreme. It is all contained within the infinite brightness which has supreme awareness. That was my experience on Feb 24th, 2007. That state can be called the state of the Father, or Allah, or Parabramha, it’s all the same. All one needs is to understand that effect.

When the limited entity called Mohan became Shiva, at first, there was only the bliss, indescribable bliss that encompassed me. The bliss of infiniteness. The bliss of liberation. The bliss of bodylessness. Existing in that expanded state, I became one with all the beings of the Universe. Limited awareness of Mohan merged with the entire cosmos and became one with both, the limited and unlimited existence. In that expanded state, one can only expresses Love, our very nature. I became every being, and every being became me.

Human intellect cannot comprehend the state of Shiva. Humans can experience that state only when they cease to become humans. They need to get out of their body, mind, intellect, ego and every other aspect and become empty and pure. Shiva’s state is that of extreme purity. Human intellect has limitation and its data bank, the sub conscious, is usually filled with stored memories and their attached emotions, and this is what it can refer from. State of Shiva can never be stored and extracted this way. It can only be experienced and that too, when we can effectively transcend our “humanness.”

Whenever intellect tries to comprehend, humans miss the Shiva aspect. Humans cannot achieve the state of Shiva by “doing.” Be it of physical or intellectual nature, “doing” amounts to action and movement. Action is expression of duality. Duality is dilution of the true state of Shiva which is all-encompassing and exists as non-duality. State of Shiva is truly that of Oneness. They can achieve the Shiva state only through “beingness”, being in the state of Shiva.

In that state of complete bliss and love, the transformed entity will choose to lead many more souls to His stature – that of the Supreme. This is a pure act formed out of love and compassion. By doing this, he is guiding himself; because everything is part of himself. It is as if some part of the body gets dirty, we wash and clean it. Just the same, when some souls search in darkness, liberated souls, with full understanding and awareness that those souls in darkness are essentially a part of themselves, lead them to light. By doing this, they are becoming more complete….

Birth of the Bless the World Meditations

Venue, People, Grace - All Provided by Baba

Three months after the Shiva experience, at about 4Am, I was woken up and immediately sensed very high energy, within me and around me. The Power of Purity meditation was given to me by Baba (I consider all Masters as BABA, because, there is no importance to name or identities in the other realms. All work in unison, under the guidance of the Supreme. This is my experience). So, when I was woken up and asked to write the meditation, I was not aware of what I am supposed to do with it. I had no idea what I was going to write. I was not even aware of the content.

All Masters are One. The God is the true Owner...

As it was being delivered, it took only about 10 minutes for me to type the meditation using my laptop. It was like Baba was making my fingers move. Everything was crystal clear. When I realized that it was a full-fledged meditation, I asked Baba: ” What am I supposed to do with it? Am I supposed to meditate?” He said: “No. You must teach.” Immediately the introvert in me objected: “No Baba, I am not cut out for such a thing. You know that I am an introvert. I cannot go around and tell people – Hey, come here, I will teach you a meditation. Moreover, I am not a Guru material. I am an ordinary man, with all the strengths and weaknesses of normal human beings.” Immediately the answer came: “That’s not your problem. We will send people to you. Understand that those who come to you are sent by us. Others will not reach you. Nor will they understand you. Your strength is your subtlety. You are empowered. You will represent our tradition.” Again, my logical mind objected: “I need people to assist me in this, especially if the mission that you are entrusting me is so big.” The answer was: ” That is not your problem either. We will make things happen at the appropriate time. Just be.” I realized that my holidays are over and I am about to embark on a much larger mission. :-) The journey has begun!!!

I recorded the meditation in a studio quite effortlessly because, at that time, I was doing the radio show called Mohan’s World, which was reasonably popular amongst the spiritual circles. Just as Baba said, our meditation took off in Dubai. It started spreading wider and wider to the stage that we have reached now. What have I done to achieve this? Nothing. This is Divine play. All my question-answers and blogs are also similar. I never read or prepare. Appropriate answers happen at the appropriate time. Our path is so pure and simple. No expectations, no conditions. Only two pillars. Purity and Faith. We operate on the ground of unconditional love, beyond all man-made barriers such as caste, creed, countries, communities, cultures and colors.

Even though I received the meditation in May 2007, I did not conduct any classes nor did I attempt to record it till  September.

'How Can I?' We Always Forget the Fire behind the smoke - The invisible hands that Make It Happen

Biba saw the entire text, right after I received it telepathically, and told me: “It is amazing. You should spread it.” A crystal clear answer appeared in my awareness: “I will do it free of cost, as a service to society. This would be the next dimension of what I am doing through Ammucare Charity Foundation. Through Ammucare, we are physically helping the poor and helpless of the society. Through Bless The World Meditations, we shall work on unburdening the helpless karmic entities called Human Beings. Unburdening/cleansing of the conditionings that one carries forward through lifetimes, definitely will take time. If change from the birth&death cycle is a necessity, then commitment and patience is a must. Faith is a must because the cleansing that happened may not be tangible. Yet, it will be effective for sure.”

In October 2007, Biba took the initiative and organised the first ever meditation class in Dubai that I myself conducted. Then, every week, the classes happened. People experienced heavy cleansing. Some experienced communions with the Masters. Some got answers to their questions without even asking them. Some had certain miraculous experiences. Thus, all have their own experience and are getting results. As always, some are consistent and committed. Some just come to see. Some to test. Some to taste. Some appreciate. Some criticize. Some ridicule. Some praise. This is nothing unusual. This is the way the world operates. We conduct the classes free of cost and voluntary donations are used for expense of the premises and charity activities. So many people, love incarnates, came together and made this happen. They are carrying it forward. Slowly, BTW meditations spread to other countries, as people shared their impressions and experiences with others. We did no campaigning or marketing. Baba’s words always ring in my ears: “Understand that those who come to you, are sent by us.”

Divine Communions

When Need Happens, Form Happens. Form has no Value, Need has…that created the form.

A True Experience: In one of our classes at Dubai, while I was answering questions, suddenly everyone saw the room getting filled with beautiful , purple energy - all fell quiet instantly. We sat there for more than an hour, in absolute silence. No phones rang and none bothered us from outside either. When we came back to our senses, everyone said, almost like a chorus “Oh God. I saw Babaji!!!It was Babaji!!!” This was real. There is a BIG difference between my talking and their experiencing. Experience cannot be denied. It is life changing. We have had many such experiences, with different Masters, in most of our classes.

Visions - Or Mind's Projections

Visions and communions are of two kinds. One is mind’s projection. We feel, “I saw Rama.” “I saw Krishna, or Jesus or Buddha.” “They told me this, they told me that,” etc. These are just mind’s cravings for recognition as the deep wish for divine communion gets projected back to you as a seeming reality. This will not have any lasting effect on you. You will not have any real changes in your constitution. The test is real life itself. If there is a fundamental constitutional change, visible in real life, that means that the communions were real. Otherwise, just like a dream, it is something that comes and goes. You will remain the same. You will shake and shatter only when you have to face the real life. Real communions are life-changing. They always leave you in a different dimension, at least one step higher than before. There will be a heavy shift within. Your awareness level would have changed.

Such communions are not easy to experience. They need eligibility. Eligibility happens with Purity, Patience and Egoless-ness. A shift does not take any time. A sinner can become a saint over-night. Eligibility takes time, because it is related to unburdening of karmas. People will never stay stable in one constitution for ever. Everyone evolves. Some are fast, while some are slow in evolving, which purely depends on their karmic baggage. If karmic baggage is less, spiritual evolution will be quite fast.

Those who have had divine communions, or those who have developed capacity to communicate constantly with higher entities, will display that divinity in real life too. Just like you unconsciously acquire the qualities of your friends, you acquire the qualities of your Gurus too. One Swami living in Himalayas once told me: “You can see a distinct trait in all the people who have communed with Babaji. That trait is a compelling need for introversion, to go within, to avoid articulation, embracing silence.” I saw this clearly in Babaji Boy, Richard and Alfred. I also saw this intensifying in me. I have to force myself to go and talk to people or take classes. It is only the Dharma (duty) that propels me to do so for some time more….

The Shaktipat Initiation

Shaktipat is a Boon, a Gift. It has the Power to Transform Lives.

Shaktipat is one of the key factors of our meditation. Shaktipat is part of our grand tradition. But, unless one is properly initiated, Shaktipat will not have any effect. The giver cannot give anything and the receiver will not be benefited. Our guided meditations, per se, are only preparations. In the classes, it is Shaktipat that makes the difference. It works on people’s ‘baggage’ and cleanses it systematically, week by week, and the results are clear in people. The same meditation gives different effect at each time. There is no physical variety. But, there is variety in the effect of the meditation, each time.

Faith and consistency. That is our path. Unburdening is a gradual process because we are unburdening from the samskaaras of many life times. Shaktipat is life changing. Shaktipat is precious and it is serious. Those whom I initiated to give Shaktipat were brought to me by Baba. Initiating people is not my discretion. I will be instructed at the right time, whom to initiate, just like in Alfred’s case. I do not choose whom to initiate. I follow orders. Those who are initiated have experienced tremendous shifts in their constitution and awareness levels. They are able to deliver it to others too. When they perform Shaktipat, their consciousness merges with mine. Shaktipat is sacred. The power will be lost completely, if one’s operating levels change to being ego based.

The Sacred Moments of Shaktipat

Shaktipat is a boon. It has to happen. It is a serious responsibility. Purity and Faith should be maintained at all times for effective deliverance of Shaktipat. Also, the presence of various Masters in our sessions is another tangible proof. People see them or feel them and they experience shifts in their constitution, their operating levels. This is not imagination. This is real. Still, conscious mind that cannot comprehend matters beyond the senses, will tend to deny it and trash it as imagination. It is anti- spiritual to deny our experiences, to prefer the words of others to your own experience. Your own experience is the most important thing for you. That’s your personal lesson. You have to start walking from where you stand. Your own experience is where you stand. Others’ words have no value, especially if the other is operating from the regular intellectual or emotional plane.

Predictions and Guidance

As always, during every trip to Himalayas, I meet an old saint (name has to be withheld – apologies) who has a great value in my life. He has not taught me anything. But, his words have always been of value. He is not a diviner. He is neither an astrologer nor a preacher. He never predicts future. Yet,the first time I met him, he said: “Do something for the children of mother earth. You will have eternal peace.”

The Irresistible Charm of Lord Krishna

Those words worked in my mind and it later became Ammucare, even though I had no plans to start any charity organisation at that time. It was like a command or prophecy. The second time I met him, he said: “I have a deep regret. I could not meet your daughter Ammu. She was an “amsha” (a part, or consciousness) of Lord Krishna!!!” This was a revelation for me. Ammu passed away on Krishna’s Birthday (Janmashtami). Also, on the night before she passed away, she told my mother: “I am playing with Krishna. Grandma, can you see Krishna?” My mom said: “We are humans. We cannot see God so easily.” And Ammu said: “You cannot see because your bhakti is not strong enough. If you pray sincerely, you can see Him.” These memories came to my mind when this saint told me about his unfulfilled wish. That gave me a better understanding about Ammu. I felt deeply honored that she came and took birth in our family as my child.

The Eyes of Ammu - Reflecting Eternity

The third important thing that this saint told me was just a year ago. He said: “In the days to come, you will explicitly express Shiva. Fire will come through your eyes. You will elevate many people just through your eyes. You will change many lives through Shaktipat. You cannot hide for long.” I joked: “Swamiji, let me hide as long as I can. This introversion is what suits me.” He laughed and said: “Wait and watch what is going to happen.” All what he said has happened. He is one of my biggest well wishers, and lives in relative isolation in the Himalayas. As he said, Bless The World Meditations are getting translated into several languages – people feel the prompting to join in, to serve, to spread Love.

Meanwhile, another meditation called 360 degrees was given to me. More are on the way. Each has the ability to change lives. The basic reason is grace. Grace cannot be created. It has to happen.

Grace is like the most sincere offering - it touches the heart deeply. Its beauty cannot be ignored...

All those whom I have initiated into Shaktipat, are delivering it with the same intensity that I would have, if I were physically present. Just like the monkey’s child clings on to its mother and automatically reaches the highest branch, in our path, the disciple reaches the highest in spirituality, just by holding on to the Guru Tattwa – the principle called Guru.

I still maintain my privacy and freedom. I still work for my living. I make sure that my existence is unpretentious. Nobody canvasses anybody for the BTW sessions. It is completely free. All voluntary contributions are used for charity after paying the expenses of the premises. Everything is recorded and audited. All those who attend are encouraged to write their experiences in their own spiritual diary, because, in the world of hard selling, beautiful talkers will brain wash them to nullify their own experience, make them believe that it was just imagination. I never take head counts. I just say: “It is available free. Using it is your discretion.” This lifestyle helps me to maintain my objectivity and selflessness. It helps me to stay liberated, without expectations. An unconditional existence is truly liberating!!!

Thus, my beloveds, the path ahead is the path of Gold for our generation. Energy changes in the universe are being experienced by us, right now, right here. Shift is taking place. Shift in consciousness is obvious. There is nothing to do. Just be in the present. Just be with every thought, word and action. Be fully conscious. Just express unconditional love always. Live in absolute faith and surrender. Live in Bliss.

Love YOU Always, M

The Velocity of Emotions

Deep in Delusion, We often miss the Beauty of Life and we forget to LOVE.

This is a work of FICTION. Any resemblance to those alive or dead is a sheer co-incidence.

Emotions are always temporary. When we live unconsciously, life glides from one emotion to another. A man who exists based on emotions, will experience extreme turbulences in life. A man who uses his intellect more than emotions, will experience a life of relative calm and poise. Emotions lead to calamities. Emotions flow out of ego. When emotion flows, it locks up the intellect. When intellect is unavailable, if unchecked, it kills people and their personal environments.

Man Walks the Path of Emotions and Attachments. Karmic entanglement ensures Re-birth

Agony and Ecstasy

In Bengal, in early 1900s lived a Yogi called Liladhar. He was quite introverted and unassuming. He used to give lectures on Bhagawad Gita and other scriptures to the villagers. He used to teach students and thus earn his livelihood. He led a very humble life. He cooked his own food, washed his own clothes, cleaned the house himself, and he shared his food with anyone who came hungry while he prepared his food. His needs were very limited. He lived in a single room near the river. People revered him and respected him. Thus, he lived a quiet life, till about 40 years of age.

Frustration Leads to Crime. Suppression leads to erratic actions. Society is a cluster of multiple expressions.

There was a brothel about 500 meters away from his house, in the same street where he lived, which used to be visited by many people from the village as well as from the neighboring villages. One day, people saw, with great surprise, Liladhar visiting this brothel. All were surprised as well as shocked. Yet, nobody dared to ask him anything. They were even more shocked when they saw him visiting the brothel again, the next day, after sun set. This went on, day after day - every night he visited the brothel and spent the whole night there, with one particular young woman, who had just been brought into this brothel. This seeming weakness of his, steadily tarnished his image. He fell in the eyes of the villagers. They stopped attending his classes. They refused to send their children to him. He became jobless and penniless. For a few days, he did some odd jobs in the locality. Soon, people stopped giving him any job. He went around begging, and somehow, everyday, he made just enough money to spend the night at the brothel with this woman. Even if he could not buy food, he religiously visited this woman. He did not forfeit his habit at any cost. Finally, when nobody even gave him alms in his village, he went to the neighboring town every morning, earned his money through odd jobs or begging in the streets, and came back in the evening to visit this particular woman at the brothel. Some youngsters even beat him, destroyed his one-room house, and even threatened to kill him, because they decided that he was not doing something that befitted a spiritual man. They decided that he was violating the moral consciousness of the society. Some people of the village tried to expel him from the village by force. But, it was effectively aborted by some elderly villagers who explained to them that “his karma will take care of him”.

Everyone Contributes to Existence. None High or none Low. Everything just is!!!

Some others who used to frequent this brothel became curious about this woman. Nobody ever saw her, because Liladhar used to occupy her room, before others arrive. They even bribed the woman who was running the brothel and offered her much higher pay, for one night with this mystery woman. Each time someone tried this, the brothel woman blackmailed Liladhar and extracted higher pay for the prescribed night with this woman. He toiled more and more for this extra money which the owner woman increasingly extorted day by day.

When Sex becomes Lust, Men Fall.

Still, he did not change his ways and this practice went on for about five or six years until one day, the woman whom he used to visit fell sick, vomited blood, and was hospitalized. On the same evening, she passed away. There was no one to claim her body. No one wanted to claim the body of a prostitute. The wise, morality conscious society was very clear about that!!!. Liladhar received her body, found enough money and arranged a proper funeral for her.

After the funeral, on the same night, he prepared to leave the place. He gave his house, even though partially damaged by the morality conscious society, to an old woman who was homeless, abandoned and lonely. Any shelter was better than no shelter for that old woman. She was well pleased. She blessed him for his kindness. While he was leaving, the old woman asked: “My son, you are a kind man, but you have suffered a lot in silence – without complaining, because of your weakness for one woman. She is dead now. Tell me, what made a balanced person like you, to undergo so much pain and trouble for the sake of a prostitute?”

Liladhar smiled and said: “That was my wife from my last life. She craved for physical relationship with many men in her last life, and she became a prostitute in this life. But, she never wanted to prostitute in this life. She was forcefully sold to this brothel by her relatives, because her destiny was such. She wanted to escape from there, but was quite helpless. Since she did not have enough money to buy freedom, nor did I have sufficient money to rescue her, I gave her company every night till she died. The whole night, I taught her various scriptures and words from the divine Masters. We never slept. She slept in the morning while I worked to earn money, to meet her in the evening. Day by day, she became spiritually evolved and attained liberation at death. I sacrificed my sleep and reputation for a noble cause. It was more important to serve a helpless woman than a thankless society reeling in inhibitions and non-understanding. I never even touched her once. This helped her to remain chaste and get liberation in this life. Because she served me sincerely in her last life as my wife, I returned the service and thus equalized the karmic debt. This will help my liberation too.  Now, I have nothing more to do here.  So, I am leaving for Himalayas. The time for my final liberation is at hands reach.”

He walked away, without looking back. After he left, this story started spreading from mouth to mouth and the villagers started feeling guilty for torturing a noble man. Some even went searching for him in the neighboring places to bring him back. It was too late. He never left any address behind for anybody to find him.

Life is not what we see or understand through our social eyes. It is much beyond. We cannot judge anyone’s actions using our limited intellect or levels of understanding, especially if the subject is a true liberated saint. We have the history of torturing and killing all the liberated saints, especially if they become rich or popular. Gross cannot understand subtle. Subtle can understand gross, but usually never interferes, just like our soul does not interfere in our waking life, except aiding it. The subtler we become, the more connected we will be to our soul. Our life may not be in line with social norms anymore. It will become more in line with the larger dharma which will be intangible and incomprehensible to the average general consciousness.

Pearls at the bottom of the Sea

The Journey is Tough, Especially When the Destination is Unclear. Tenacity of Conviction is the Key for Success

Ahmed was born in an orthodox middle class Indian family. His elders were all religion-bound. His mother, whom he loved a lot, was open and warm towards all cultures and religions. He grew up with the same mentality – under his mother’s loving guidance and protection, despite his getting officiated into his religion by birth, at the appropriate age. Soon after his birth, his father expired leaving him and his mother alone. Life became tough for him and his mother. He had to leave his education half way because of poverty. His mother tried her best to get him across the 10th class. And soon afterwards, he migrated to the Arab world, looking for survival. He was too young and inexperienced. He could only find odd jobs, which did not pay him well. He spent ten years in an Arab country and came back to look after his ailing mother. He found a steady job in the local market, loading and offloading food stuff into local warehouses. He earned his daily bread without complaints. Soon, he got married to a woman whom he knew since childhood. She was from a conservative as well as orthodox family and was quite rigid in her views. They also had two children in the course of time.

Ahmed was quite a spiritual man. He was quite liberal in his views and strongly believed in the necessity for co-existence of various paths of spirituality. He was always filled with compassion for the poor and needy, irrespective of their religion. Ahmed easily became an odd man out in a society segregated by religion. The usual question to him was – “why do you have to help those who are outside our religion, when there are many poor people within our community?” Ahmed just smiled and brushed away such remarks, because his vision was very clear and unbiased.

He continued his usual religious practices regularly, at the same time, he tried his best to help the poor, sick and helpless of the society. Even though he earned just about enough money to run his family, he shared his income with the sick and the abandoned, by visiting the local government hospital when ever he got time, many times a week. He expressed abundance within his limited income.

He was quickly evolving in spirituality through his genuine selfless acts or karma yoga. He was leading a satisfactory existence – both spiritually and charity wise. At the same time, he thirsted for more. He did not know what he was looking for, but, he felt that there is a mighty ocean of existence within himself, that he must taste and explore. He did not know how to reach that abundant world of peace within. And yet, somehow, he was always aware of that world, its proximity and existence within.

He started attending classes of other religions in his pursuit to find answers to his deepest questions. He belonged to an orthodox community. They did everything to prevent a young lamb from straying into unknown terrains. He was warned by elders time and again, not to attend other religious lectures and stick to his own. Still, he continued his pursuit. He became an odd man in his own house as well as the society. His mother understood him well. His wife, who hailed from a conservative family, did not. She argued with him many times, even threatened to leave him, if he brought disgrace to their family because of his strange habits. He subtly escaped such situations in the house. Even though he searched for truth through many teachers of his religion of birth and others, nothing helped him ultimately, to progress further. Something was missing and it remained as a nagging pain, within. He knew that he was in search of something much higher, greater and deeper than what he has experienced in life so far. A pleasure beyond imagination. There was definitely discontentment and disappointment with his lack of progress. But, he immersed himself in social work and thus lived a relatively peaceful life. The elders of his religion did not bother him much because of his inclination for social service and his willingness to help everyone. Many of them were receivers of his assistance at various points of time. Their thankfulness indirectly saved him from troubles, as they chose to keep a blind eye towards his wanderings.

One night, he had sufficient work which kept him busy till late evening. While coming home through an alley, close to a

Extreme Penance is a test of Endurance as well as the depth of conviction. It is not easy. It is not for everyone. Everyone need not travel this path too.

river, he saw one man with his head and face covered moving alone towards the river. There was no light anywhere and it was difficult to recognize him. He thought it would be a thief and without his knowledge, Ahmed followed him. This man walked up to the river and stood there for sometime, observing the surroundings. There was a thin light illumining the sky and the earth from the waning moon, when they came to the river bank. Ahmed hid behind a tree and watched. The other man removed his clothes, made a bundle of them, tied it to his back, and swam across the river. There was not much water because it was summer time. Most part of the river was dry and he could easily swim across. When he reached the other shore, he wiped himself, wore his clothes again and walked towards the trees. Ahmed, did the same and followed him. He went into a dark alley and further deeper into the trees. He reached a cave which was invisible from any road, and was almost hidden by creepers. The man ahead entered the cave, spread a thick cloth which was already existing there, prayed quietly for a few minutes in silence, removed all his clothes except the loin cloth, and stood upside down with his legs in lotus posture above and his head below, supported by his hands. Ahmed waited for a few hours, hiding himself behind a tree. That area was almost like a forest, with trees and bushes. He became conscious and worried that snakes or wild animals could be roaming free there, deep in night, looking for prey.

The man did not change his posture for hours. Ahmed felt tired and  slept, leaning his back against a tree. Even though he was determined to see to the end of this unusual sight, he fell asleep. By 4AM, a slight sound from inside the cave woke him up. The man inside was now sitting in erect posture and doing hyper ventillation or praanayaam. Soon, he completed his chores, got up, wore his clothes and started his journey back, the same way he came there. Ahmed followed him. After they crossed the river, through the dark alley, to his biggest surprise, this man entered the quarters of priests of his religion, through a back door. Even though he could not see the man’s face fully, he recognized his regular priest. He was determined to know more. He decided to wait the next day and see if the same saga will take place. It did. Every night, this happened. He recognized the priest who is practicing deep penance, alone and in wilderness. Finally, one day, he decided to confront this priest. After the prayers, when everyone left the premises, Ahmed went to the priest and requested his audience. The young priest, almost the same age of Ahmed, readily agreed. He explained everything that he has been witnessing each night, to the priest. At first, the priest had an expression of surprise and a tinge of fear on his face. What if his orthodox community finds out what is happening with him, after people go to bed!!! Soon, he reconciled with the situation and smiled. He asked Ahmed. “What do you want from me?” Ahmed said, “Please teach me what you are doing. I want to experience higher spirituality”. The priest agreed, under one condition – that Ahmed will never tell this to another soul in this life time.

Extreme Conviction and Persistence Leads us to the Ultimate Liberation

Thus, he started travelling with the priest to the cave at the other side of the river every night. The priest taught him how to stand upside down for a long time and learn concentration and later, real meditation. One more youngster found their secret out and he also joined them. He was trustworthy and without any fear, their spiritual practice continued without any interruption, safely away from the eye of the public.

However, terrible interruption happened in Ahmed’s household sector. His wife started suspecting him to having another girlfriend, a second wife or at least a regular romance. She was convinced that the prompt exit of her husband, every night, has the lure of some woman behind it. She asked him many times and he could never give her any satisfactory answer. He trusted his mother and told her everything and she agreed with her son that this should remain extremely confidential because of many reasons. But, day by day, his wife began to create more and more tantrums. She told her father that her husband has found another woman and goes to her, every night after 10PM and comes back before dawn. Ahmed’s father in law called him and counseled him. In their religion, it is allowed to marry more than one wife, but, he should have the capacity to look after each wife in the same manner by providing the same facilities. Ahmed is relatively a poor man. So, taking that into consideration, Ahmed’s father in law tried his best to make Ahmed understand that what he is currently doing is against the will of God, community as well as the society.

Despite all these troubles, Ahmed continued his spiritual practice which gave him immense satisfaction. His energy level was very high. He involved himself in more social service than before. As he evolved in spirituality, his wife’s frustration also evolved to a stage of intolerance. Finally, frustrated and angry, she took her children and left for her parents house with a vow never to return back until her husband ends his relationship with the other woman. Even though she tried to trace the other woman in Ahmed’s life or at least find out who that could be, she was not successful in that attempt too. Completely frustrated and helpless, she even blamed Ahmed’s mother for supporting her son in all his weaknesses.

Even though his wife left him with their children, Ahmed still did not change his ways. Ahmed did miss his children when ever he came home. Yet, did not do much to bring them back, because he knew that he could explain nothing to his wife and knew very well that she will never understand him. He tried to visit his children at her parents house and gift them some sweets that they loved, he was not allowed entry into the house or access to his children. He had created so much anger and hatred in his wife.

Months passed by. Some people of his community decided that he is not conforming to the norms of their religion, because he is also visiting the places of worship of other religions. They joined together and excommunicated him from his religion. Against all odds, Ahmed continued his spiritual journey. He even visited the central place of his religion in the Arab land, the very seat of his religion twice and offered his prayers there. This surprised the elders. They thought “Some of us who are more punctual in our prayers could not visit the holy city. A non-believer like Ahmed was able to. Without the call of the Supreme Almighty, nobody can go to the Holy city. This means Ahmed has the grace of the Almighty. We should bring him back to our community.” Thus, eventually, without any effort from his side for that, Ahmed was re-instated in his community.

Conviction is the rope that holds the man against all odds of life

Ahmed never changed his ways. He progressed a lot spiritually through his rigorous practice and found that all religions are the same and that God is One. Soon, he stopped his nocturnal travel and started practicing within closed doors of his own room. This news reached his wife’s ears and she returned back with their children. She came to know that her husband was only doing some strange spiritual practices and it had nothing to do with sex or women. She was happy, even though she tried to convince Ahmed to walk the beaten track. Ahmed, without confrontation, continued his pursuit. Thus, the family was finally re-united and Ahmed and his family still exist, quite peacefully, in a corner of this vast world.

Most of us fail because of our lack of conviction. If there is purity and selflessness in thoughts, words and action, this truth itself will strengthen us against all the odds.

The Velocity of Emotions

Mother and Son - A Sacred Relationship

Victoria’s husband died when their son Adam was only two years old. It was indeed a tough task for Victoria to bring up a toddler into a healthy man. She worked hard to make both ends meet. They lived in a town close to the sea at the cape. The place was peaceful in the day time, but, quite dangerous, after dark. Gentlemen and ladies never ventured out after sunset. Adam grew up rapidly into a strong and handsome man. Victoria was a bit over protective about Adam and she did everything to keep Adam from any complications of the city. She even made sure that he mingles with the “right” type of people. She hovered over him all the time. When Adam found Diana, he tried his best to gain privacy for both of them, from his over zealous mother. Diana had two brothers and she was living in the outskirts of the city. As their love progressed, Adam stayed away from home more and more, to be with Diana. This created more agony for Victoria.

Adam was 21 and he won a job in a company as an apprentice. He had his work and his girl friend. He was happy and contended. But, time spent with his mother became lesser and lesser. Victoria had nothing else in her world except Adam. She started feeling lonely and abandoned.

One evening, while coming back home from dropping Diana to her home after sunset, Adam saw one of Diana’s brother named Sam lying in a pool of blood on the road. He promptly took him to the hospital and the boy survived. Police got involved and the boy named the guys who did this to him. They were arrested. Since they were below the age of recognized adulthood, they were warned, fined and left free. This was Adam’s first experience of anything as ugly as that. He decided not to tell his mother. Why make her worry further?

Two months later, Diana’s brother Sam, now reasonably recovered, invited Adam for a drink after work. Adam agreed. Adam thought that Sam wants to express his gratitude for saving his life, in this way. They met at the appointed place and had a few drinks. Adam told Sam about his intention to marry Diana. Thus, the pleasant evening went by and their bonding strengthened. Adam offered to drop Sam on his motor cycle as Sam had not started to ride a bike as yet, after his injury. It was almost 10 PM. As they reached the alley where Sam was attacked earlier, something hit the bike and both of them fell down from the bike. Before Adam could understand what was happening, he saw three boys dragging Sam to the side of the road. Adam rushed towards Sam to rescue him. The bigger of the three turned towards Adam and shouted “Run, if you want to be alive”. Adam ignored his words and tried to grab Sam. Suddenly, he felt a severe pain in his lower back. He could not get up. Again he felt something sharp piercing his body many more times. He fell unconscious. His soul left his injured body, immediately.

Victoria woke up with the rude shock of  the terrible news. Adam is NO MORE. Police had arrested the murderer, also a youngster, maybe a few years older than Adam. Victoria was completely shattered. She did not know what to do next. How to survive alone till death? Her whole life lay shattered. She was shivering with helplessness.

Since this was a murder, a criminal offence, Victoria had to attend the court. She saw her son’s murderer. His name was Nick. He was being convicted for murder. She screamed at him “The law may not kill you, but I will. I will wait till you come back. I will stay alive, just to kill you. You killed an innocent man. You really need to be punished.” The murderer was given imprisonment  for 10 years as the punishment for the murder that he seem to have committed, as there was no witness and only circumstantial evidence. But, Victoria was sure that he killed Adam. A mother’s instinct. Victoria thought it is too short a term for such a henious crime.

Ten years passed by. Victoria remembered the exact date and time of Nick’s release. She waited outside the prison. She saw Nick coming out of the gates of the prison. She went to him. He looked at her without any expressions of fear or anger. He looked resigned to his fate. She asked: “Where are you going?” He said “I do not know. I am homeless.” She said, “Come with me”. She took Nick in her car to her home. She gave him a room and asked him to take bath. She also gave him fresh clothes, that her son used to wear. Fortunately, Nick was of the same size as of Adam.Afterwards, she gave him soup, salad and bread. After food, she escorted him to a bedroom, which her son used to use, and allowed him to sleep peacefully. All the walls of that room had many pictures of Adam at various age of his life, till death. Nick could not sleep. His mind was full of repentance. He could sleep better in the jail with lesser facilities. He could not sleep in that room filled with the vibrations of the person whom he had killed.

In the next morning, Victoria saw Nick sleeping on the sofa in the living room and woke him up. After he brushed and bathed, Victoria gave him a healthy break fast. After break fast, Nick prepared to leave. Victoria asked “Where will you go? Do you have a house?” He said “No”. I have nobody. I am an orphan. Victoria said “I am alone here. This house is big. You can stay here as long as you want.”

Nick looked at her in disbelief. He looked into her eyes and asked in a low voice:. “When I was going to the prison, I heard your screams all the way until the door closed. You were shouting ‘I will kill you. I will wait till you come out. I will kill you.’ Now, tell me, when will you kill me? Are you doing all this to kill me in the end?”

Victoria looked straight into his eyes. Without blinking, she said “I have already killed the man who killed my son. You are not the same. You are just an orphan who is homeless. How can I kill you?”

Nick burst out into tears. Victoria put his head on her shoulder and allowed him to rain his emotions.

Forgiveness is one of the highest of virtues. Love converts criminals. Punishment reinforces crimes and the guilt attached.

In Search of a Guru

The Eternal Search of Life. Search for Oneself.

David decided to leave his home at the age of 23. This was a major decision of his life. He was quite disillusioned with the way his life was going, especially with the competition in the world and the associated rat-race. He was not cut out to weather such competition which existed throughout his school days and through university days as well. All the students seemed pretty preoccupied or obsessed with making it big in the material world, which felt too shallow for David. There has to be something much more meaningful in life. Finally, he achieved post graduation in English Language and Literature. Even though everyone thought that he would end up in an educational institution teaching children, he decided to walk out into the much wider world, avoiding identities. He was in search of a spiritual Guru.

He went to the North of India, the foot hills of Himalayas. At some point of time, Himalayas call all spiritual seekers, one way or the other. He went up and down the mighty mountain many times, by foot and in vehicles. He practiced various methods and techniques to connect with God, but internally, the search for his Guru continued. He spent almost four years this way. Many times, he thought that he found him. And each time disappointment happened, one way or the other. Thus, one evening, as he was sitting in disillusionment and sadness, looking at the flow of River Ganga, a young man with bright eyes came to him. David noticed the sparkle in his eyes and somehow felt attracted by it instantly. The young man just introduced himself just as Govind and did not explain further about himself. He was quite abrupt in his communication. He said “I was sent by Siddha Baba, to tell you that your Guru lives in the south of India and not here. You must search for him there.” David was so surprised with this unexpected revelation, he could not speak for some time. ” How did this man know who I am and what I am looking for?” While David was in that state, the young man asked David to write down the details of the location where his Guru existed. David noted everything down, drew a map, and before he could ask further about Siddha Baba and his messenger, the young man disappeared, without even waiting for an expression of gratitude from David. He realized: ” When disciple is ready, the Guru appears.” The next day, David packed his bag and left for the southern Indian state that the young man had described. He reached there in a week. The young man had described the looks of his Guru. David already had made an image of his Guru in his mind and started searching for him. But, even though he searched for days in all the ashrams in the neighborhood, he could not trace this Guru. Days went by. He checked with all who looked like a Swami or saint or at least a spiritual person. He went to temples and monasteries. Nobody could guide him to his Guru. The young man sent by Siddha Baba had only told him the location or the city where he could find him, not the exact house. This made things worse.

Day by day David started getting depressed more and more. One night, he had a dream in which the same young man who guided him to this place came again. In the dream, he told David the exact name of the village, right at the outskirts of the city where his Guru lived. Still he did not give the address of his Guru’s house!!!

He got up from his sleep, refreshed himself before the sunrise and took the first bus to this village. There were no monasteries and hermitages in that village. This made him angry. David scolded himself for believing in a dream. After making sure that there are no Gurus or Acharyas in this village, he walked back to the bus stop, in disappointment, and waited for the bus. While sitting at the bus stop, his eyes went to a vegetable vendor opposite to where he was sitting. There he saw a man with bare chest, wearing a single piece cloth around his waist, buying vegetables and putting them in bags made of thick cloth. For a moment, David’s eyes got locked with his. Suddenly, he turned and immersed himself back into his purchase. Then it clicked. David knew that was his Guru. He went to him and offered his greetings to the other man. He just looked and nodded his head, without any expressions. And abruptly, he paid for the vegetables that he had bought from the shop and started walking away with his two bags, without even looking at David once again. David stood still for a few seconds, not knowing what to do next. He realized ” I have searched for a Guru since years and now I have found him. Even though he does not look like a spiritual Guru, he could be an enlightened soul, capable of being a Guru.”  What confused David was his costume. He looked like a domestic servant. No shirt and only a white cloth around his waist. Quickly he gathered himself and ran after this man, who seemed to be in his fifty’s. David tried to ask many questions and the man answered in a word or two, obviously not interested in that conversation. Finally, he stopped. Looked into the eyes of David and said ” I am a poor man. A domestic servant, serving a rich farmer in the village. What do you want from me?”

David explained everything to him. He listened to David’s story patiently, both standing under a tree. Then he said “I appreciate your sincerity and steadfastness. Many seekers have no conviction and no faith. That is why they do not progress. They always doubt in themselves, their path and also their Guru. They reach nowhere. You have come all the way, searching for me. I have no disciples. But, I have to accept you. However, do remember, I am working here as a domestic servant. I can teach you only after I complete the household chores, in the night. You should not disturb me in the morning, till night.” He started walking. ” It is time for my master to have his lunch. I must hurry. He should not be waiting for me.” He started running home.

Guru Appears at the right time in disciples life. Recognizing him is the most difficult thing.

David agreed to his Guru’s demands and his spiritual journey took a different turn. For once, his faith got re-instated in his dream as well as the guidance. He and His Guru met at 10 PM that night. Even though he has been working the whole day, his Guru seemed to be fresh and had no sign of fatigue on his face. he also seem to be happy and liking his work or what he was doing for a living. David asked ” Guruji, I realize that you are a great Siddha. Only a true siddha can be so unassuming like you and stay away from public eye so effectively. Why are you involved in such a job, instead of pursuing your spirituality through other means? Why are you not teaching students? Why don’t you have your own hermitage? I am sure the whole world would be benefited. We have a society in which pretensions sell well and genuine material remains unrecognized or unwanted.”

David’s Guru started laughing. He said “You are the first disciple that ever came my way. First of all, I am not concerned about my status. How does that matter to me? What ever my spiritual status is, it just is. It cannot be another. I have to move on from where I stand, establish in the consciousness that I am in. It does not matter and it is not a subject for comparisons. Comparison means ego, as we will be comparing ourselves with another person. Secondly, our own establishment also adds to ego, as “me and mine” becomes predominant. Competition is not my path. Nullification is. I have effectively nullified my identity. I have no address of my own except a care of address and just have a name for identification’s sake. I do not own any property or possessions. All that I use is my master’s. Everything belongs to him. I do not earn enough to pay taxes. I do not have to vote in this place, as I came from else where, hence no politician is interested in me. I do not have a passport. I am a non-entity. My master gives me a place to sleep. He provides me with food, clothes and shelter. I have no more needs. I am well protected and I have the whole night to myself to do my spiritual practices. I am living in the present. I have no anxieties or fears. Now, existence has sent you. I was told that you will come. But, still I tested you. I like your tenacity and conviction. So, I accepted you as my disciple. Our path is that of simplicity and purity. We have nothing to prove. Hope you understand this well.”

Thus, David found his Guru in a very ordinary man. David also found his path. He was deeply contented and his search for a Guru ended there.

All that glitters is not Gold. God often comes to our doorstep in the guise of a beggar. Identify God in everything. You will remain in bliss and peace.

Love YOU

All our identities are temporary. When we wake up to this reality, peace descends in our hearts. There is nothing to prove anymore.

The Cycle of Rise and Fall

Never Take Life Seriously - Watch it as a Witness - Laugh Aloud

Dear Friends

Since the last few days, I am bombarded with calls and mails for my comments on the incident related to Swami Nithyananda. I have answered all your questions personally and  in our satsang. I would like to write my thoughts here, so that the raging minds may get some relief. I am objective. I am not involved with Dhyanapeetam. But, I like Nithyananda’s style of teaching, his clarity and the pearls of wisdom that he profusely gave forth all these years. We cannot ignore what he gave to the hungry world of sundry seekers. We cannot shatter his image because of a scandal and ignore his teachings. I am not justifying him not practicing his teachings or our notion of dishonoring the sanctity of saffron. Time will tell the truth. Let’s exercise patience. Please wait and watch by not being judgmental.

I am watching with amusement the human nature or the nature of the mob where 100s of good messages, teachings were ignored and disowned because our mental image about Nithyananda got shattered. Why do we have to disown the Guru tattwa that traveled through the medium called Nithyananda also to the outside world? Why do we have to disown our experiences as well as knowledge? Mental images are bound to get shattered sooner or later. Let us realize this fact, as this body also will perish one day.

The Tragic Flaw

In the Aristotelian teachings, there is heavy accent on a principle called The Tragic Flaw. This means, one flaw or deficiency in one’s character, triggers his downfall. Othello had jealousy. Hamlet’s flaw was delay. Every human being possesses one or a few tragic flaws in him, which eventually cause his downfall. Suppressed sex is such a flaw. Does this change with enlightenment? We shall see that in the following lines.

Guru Tattwa

The Guru principle is like the every flowing Ganges. It keeps flowing, through various cities, nourishing various regions and beings. Guru principle began when life began. Guru Tattwa operates through any being, any mouth and any words that matter to us, time to time. Just like different teachers guided you in different classes, aiding you to reach the higher levels, the Guru Principle works through various beings and helps us climb steps to higher awareness. Guru Tattwa flows eternally. Nobody can deny this. All external teachers are only representing this principle. Our soul also represents this principle. God represents this principle. That is why we say Guru is God. Guru is transitory. Guru changes from class to class, or time to time. The principle never changes.

The Guru principle travels through eternity and takes any mouth to convey the wisdom. The mouth is not important as it is transitory. The message it conveys is important for you. Trust the message. Cherish the message. Experience the message. They are the eternal truths. This will help liberation. Marry the wisdom, not the Guru.

Guru Principle Eternally Flows

Equanimity

Our tradition teaches us the path of equanimity as the best path. A perfect balance through happiness and sorrow. If a seeker approaches spirituality with extreme equanimity, he will be well balanced in Guru Tattwa, with supreme gratitude to existence and all the mouths that expound the tattwa. If emotion is driving the seeker, and especially if  ”do-ership” is predominant in him, he will tend to get attached to the image of the Guru. They miss the tattwa and fall for the Guru. They build expectations and mental images. When the images fail to hold, they fall flat too. Many get disillusioned. Many get out of disillusionment, and finally leave their need for the stick and start to walk on their own thereafter.

The Path of Liberation

Our tradition has always accented on the liberation from the birth and death cycle. Our tradition never bound anyone to any system and allowed free choices to everyone. This is the true path. In this path, The Guru, Our Soul and the God are one and the same. Our soul is our primary Guru. The external Guru is only an exponent of the eternal principle called Guru Tattwa. In the path of liberation, sooner or later, the image, name and form must get nullified and the tattwa should shine bright. So, whatever image that we hold on to, for our immediate progress, like our class teacher, will vanish and will be replaced by another and another, until the completion of our journey. Path of liberation is always path or annihilation. Everything, including our body, mind and intellect must perish and dissolve, sooner or later.

The Body

Hunger sustains the body. Sex sustains the species. When one takes the body, he also inherits the relevant urges. Hunger and Sex are essential for sustenance in different levels, all amounting to existence. When the accent on body reduces and man establishes his consciousness on Omni presence, all the requirements of the body will take a back seat. It does not mean that it has vanished from the system. It exists, in a dormant state, in most cases. When that person has to operate continuously through the senses and body, such as teaching or nurturing establishments or people, these urges can come back and bother him. It is possible. This, the primal urge, may also cause the fall.

Enlightenment

Enlightenment establishes one on unity with his own soul. It leaves aside all caution and allows the nature to take its course, like a tree, even if it means cutting it off from its roots. Enlightenment aligns all chakras of the vital system in perfect order and converts the man into a mirror. He will start reflecting what comes in front of him and will usually maintain a fluid state. He will be like the water that attains the flavor and form of its container. This level of being-ness often brings forth personal chaos. Especially when the person consistently operates on the terrestrial plane, his larger awareness takes a back seat. If lust takes over, it gives room for degeneracy. Lust also could be acquired. Like a sponge, he could acquire any feeling from another person.

The Image

Our body, mind and intellect are temporary. When over-dependancy happens on any image, it gets shattered. This is the law of nature. The public image that we consciously or unconsciously create is transitory or temporary. Sooner or later, it will fall. It will definitely fall if we do not conform to the image that we create and do something contrary to it. The image that others build about us is also transitory or temporary. The difference here is, even if we allow changes in ourselves, others will not want to change their image about us at all. Thence, if we are casual about the image, others could crucify us, because we do not conform to their mental image anymore. Society likes to keep images about its people. The larger the image, the tougher it is to maintain it, let alone change it. When such images break, the society becomes cruel.

The Expectation

Expectation is the biggest treason. Expectations are inevitable, as long as we operate from our conscious mind during waking state. Expectation is part of our mind mechanism. The more the expectations are, the more are our sufferings too. Expectations create walls much stronger than ego. Expectations always alienate us from the truth. Expectations thus should be nullified before we realize God. When we build expectations on individuals, they are bound to perish, because almost all people are karmic beings and unless we see the third dimension of the individual, we cannot understand his operating levels. (Enlightened beings operate on Dharmic mode) In order to understand the operating levels, we need to have unity in consciousness. Since each person operates in his own consciousness, and cannot migrate into another, this is very difficult. So, expectations are bound to perish sooner or later. The shock that follows wakes us up and relieves us from our dependency on our expectations to its nullification.

The Gratitude

Gratitude is essential for growth. Every Guru has given us something. Every one has aided our growth. What we are today is with the support of many Gurus. We should be grateful. If a Guru behaves in a way which is contrary to our expectations, we should understand that the problem is with our expectation. We may have failed to understand the third dimension of the Guru, which was not fully obvious. All we need to do is accept and appreciate the teachings.

The Power of Sex

Sex is very powerful. It is powerful because it is inherent in all beings. It is inherent because it is essential for the continuation of species. Sex is used only to maintain the species – by all beings except man. For man, sexual act also amounts to pleasure and recreation. Celibacy is a test. Being a celibate is not easy, because the needs of the body sometimes play havoc, just like hunger can take a person even to the level of murdering another. Being a celibate in a forest is much easier than existing in the market place amongst all kinds of lures. Thus, all these matters can acquire the power of tornadoes at times, unless overcome. To win over elements, which is essentially the basis of our body, we need stillness and being-ness. In extreme doing-ness of social life, even if the person exists in being-ness of his realized state, the needs of the body could always play an important role. The shift from the all pervasive omnipresence to the limited body consciousness can be considered as inevitable, when the interaction is at micro level continuously and consistently. This is the discretion of the saint. He could very well transfer himself into a Grihasthi (Family man’s life), get married, have sexual gratification and even help continue the species, if need be. He could also renounce fully and pursue his spirituality in anonymity, like avadhootas. If he chooses to serve the world and also maintain perfect celibacy, he needs to exercise great restraint. It is not easy.

Sex has lured masters since time began. Sex is the temptation that tilts humans because we are used to suppressing it. Society condemns it. Middle class preserves it. Upper and Lower class has nothing to do with morality, usually. Pardon my bluntness. This is the truth. Morality is the property of the usually deprived Middle class.  We pretend to be immune to it and fall flat at times unable to handle its immensity and weight. This is the way we are, whether we like it or not. Like the Great Master Lahari Mahasaya, who also lead a family life, said “When sexual desire takes place, it takes place.” It is as simple as that. Adi Shankara migrated his soul into another body to experience sexuality. Viswamithra fell to the charms of Menaka. Osho has remarked that without addressing our inherent sexuality, there is no progress in spirituality. Now, the question is about the image that we created and the reality that we experience. If there is big disparity, the fall is inevitable. The equation is in coming into terms with ourselves. Nobody is immune to sexuality. Everyone has fantasies. If someone pretends otherwise, beware. Sex is natural. Accept our sexuality. There is nothing to be ashamed about. Use your discretion while going about it, that’s all. By suppressing something, we cannot solve it. Period.

My Request

My request to all the family members of BTW is, please respect the teachings of Nithyananda. Please respect the Guru Tattwa that he translated into many lives. Please respect the teachings as well as the experiences. Do not despise anyone, let alone Nithyananda. If you criticize and hate any Guru, the Guru principle within you will get affected. Just be grateful for what Nithyananda gave you and the world. Only our expectations were shattered. Our mental images were shattered. A big bubble was burst. They are bound to be shattered today or tomorrow. Nothing stays permanent in life. Be respectful. Never use any violence in thoughts, words or action. Do not judge anyone’s action. There is no need to justify, as it is none of our business. Remember one thing – the truth will remain truth, despite the image of the master. Also, be careful about who is benefited by desecrating and burning the ashram? Why do we become emotional? Why do we become violent? Are we all such pure beings to throw stones at another? Are we all not a mixture of everything? Look within first. Then look outside. True spiritualists should maintain calmness and serenity. Marry the teachings. Do not marry the Guru. But, always have gratitude for the teachings or Guru Tattwa.

One person has insisted on my answering his question about whether I approve it or not. My friend, the world does not operate on my approvals. Your mental processes happen beyond my approval. I have seen shift in favors without any concrete reason in life. People change in moments. Their thought processes change. We never know who will do what tomorrow. Who will be alive tomorrow. What will happen to us tomorrow. We are so fragile and momentary. You and I can rise or fall anytime. Tides can turn anytime. So, let’s not be over enthusiastic in cherishing the fall of somebody. We do not have to approve the sexual preferences of anyone. They will go ahead with it, well without our approvals, if they have to. When we cannot even control our own thoughts, how will we control others? Do we have to at all?

I appreciate your stressing on morality and sainthood. History has seen much of suppression and subsequent liberation. Let’s not argue this fact. I do understand that mental images have been seriously shattered. That is bound to happen, because our path is that of liberation from everything. Just understand one thing. With or without us walking this planet, life will go on. Nothing changes with our protest or concern. Violence within will only affect ourselves. Hence, express gratitude for everything and allow people to walk their path. Let’s not be judgmental. We have no right. Let us take everything as part of our learning process. Hence, marry good teachings which help our spiritual evolution. Never marry any physical Guru.

Love All. Forgive All . Be Kind Within. Do not judge another.

BLESS ALL.

Love

M
