The Eternal Wings of a Grand Tradition

I Bow and Surrender Everything to the Light of Wisdom eternally Flown to us by the tradition of Great Masters of the Grand Universe... Samastha Loka Sukhino Bhavanthu...Aum Shanti....

Today, on the 23rd of February, I surrender this blog, my humble contribution, as flowers offered at the feet of our grand tradition and all the Great Masters, Great Guides, Selfless entities, who walked ahead of us, lead us and are still leading us, with deep gratitude and surrender. The tradition has no beginning nor end. It flows eternally. There is no room for ownership or ego. All are part of the grand design. All are integral. All are significant. All are insignificant too. All exist and do not exist. The grand tradition flows eternally. This is where we belong; this is our real family. There are no boundaries. Tradition has no gender barrier, no caste, color, creed, country, culture, custom barrier too. One father and various aspects and expressions of that one father. Ignorance alienates us, while understanding and awareness gather us. Man minus ego is GOD. I bow down to all the children of this rich tradition of supreme un-conditionality. I bow down to this rich tradition built and cemented with FAITH and SUPREME LOVE.

This Soul and Body, time and space, are all Gifts of the Tradition. What can I offer you, my tradition, which is not yours already!!!

We belong to a grand tradition of selflessness. We are its offsprings as well as its torch bearers. But, we live in a world of make-believe and pretensions. We pretend to be happy and we pretend to be what we are not. We pretend our karmic inevitability and helplessness as liberated existence, all the while resisting everything internally!!! We even express our non-understanding of the true meaning of liberation through strange behaviors such as smoking, drugs, drinking, variety of indulgences, wild and destructive habits and actions, restlessness and many other things. All these are helplessly binding us to earth.  Some pretend till death. Some pretend for a short span of time. Everyone pretends. In our times, people are looking for quick remedies, instant Nirvana. Is it possible? In such a world, the methods of Atmananda  Chaithanya and many others saints of our grand tradition will not make sense. We would rather hold on to our phobias, fears, anxieties and ego, and walk the familiar path of certainty which we are used to, rather than tread the ever uncertain path of pathlessness. This is our attitude. Only a very few see the light. Most choose darkness, because in the darkness, we can hide. We can hide our true nature in the cloak of darkness. They relish their coward nature and even justify it to feel safe and sane. They chant “Light means sorrow, my children. Darkness is bliss”!!! Are we some of those cowards refusing to face ourselves? Think well. If I have not offended you enough, please read on… A story about practical education by a surreal saint. Practical education for an unlikely student!

Time is unstoppable. Life is transitory. The gush of the river reminds us of the eternal flow of the transitory time...

The story of Manav and Atmananda

Manav sat on the steps leading towards Ganga and stared at the water flowing in a hurry. It was just like time. The moment you think of the present, it has already become the past. The moment you look elsewhere, gallons of water have rushed past!!! This is Life! What a mad rush!!! When will this restless rush end? Where will it end? Where is all this water going to? Where is the time going to? Time has no problem. It has always been like this. Only those who chose to watch it, became tired. Time is never tired!!! Everything goes through time. The people, the seasons, the events…. everything. Just like the big log that rolls up and down over the waves of the river, quite helplessly, uncontrollably and unconsciously, life flows through time. Then, just like the log, people vanish. Then new people come. Then they also vanish. Thus, time and river have lots of similarities. What are we holding back? What can we hold back? Manav looked up at the sky in helplessness, as if seeking a divine communion. Where is the answer? Who can give the answer? That moment was decisive in his mind. He decided to leave everything and walk to the north. NORTH! North of India are the Himalayas. Ganga flows from the Himalayas. So, Manav is already in the North. He stood up and walked further up north. Somehow, in his mind, NORTH means some kind of surety. Some kind of refuge, which he does not yet know. Anyway, what more can anyone lose, than his life? Manav believed that he is not afraid of death and darkness. He considered himself quite brave, in terrestrial terms of bravery. So, he walked into the darkness of uncertainty, and embarked on his search for the unknown, and walked further towards North.

Every Communion is Important. Every Meeting has Meaning. Terrestrial Bravery is situational!

Tough terrains of existence. Tough times. Unknown paths. Unknown destination. Unknown people. Everything strange. All are strangers. Amongst the strangers, he found familiarities. Familiar strangers. One man asked him. “Swami hey Kya?” (Are you a Saint?) Manav replied “Nahi. Saadhak houn”. (No. I am a Seeker). The stranger asked “Mila Nahi Abhi tak?” (Did you not find it so far?) Manav stared at his eyes without answering. How can he tell him that “getting it” was not his primary search. Knowing what to search for, was his primary search! He took his backpack and walked further. The stranger shouted from behind. “Atmananda ko zaroor milna. Milega tumko, jo tum ddhoont rahe hey”. (Definitely meet Atmananda. You will get what you are searching for.) He did not look back and kept walking. ATMANANDA. The name stuck in his mind.  Where will he find him? Or, did he meant “find happiness (ananda) in your own atma (soul) and you will find what you are looking for”? The long and winding path of uncertainty lay ahead of him. The question was whether to walk it up or stay where he was! Walking ahead means facing uncontrollable uncertainties. Staying back could mean eternal stagnation. Manav thought “This is exactly what people call Between Devil and Deep Sea”. Death is sure in any case!!! Manav feared stagnation more than uncertainties. He decided to walk further. This was a great decision of his life.

The third day from there, he met Atmananda at Rudra Prayag. A local temple priest guided Manav to Atmananda.  To Manav’s great surprise, Atmananda resembled the stranger who told him to meet Atmananda. He was confused. Was it the same person who came to guide him a couple of days earlier? Nothing made sense. He became more confused.

Atmananda was sitting in the middle of a couple of dozen people, was cracking jokes and laughing aloud. Even though Atmananda looked at him, he did not show any recognition. He carried on with his jokes. Everyone was laughing. What sort of a saint is this? Just cracking jokes and laughing? For a moment he thought. ” Was I searching for laughter? Maybe I was!!”. Laughter is indeed an expression of happiness. All people are searching for Happiness and they never find it, except the fleeting or momentary ones!! “Ah! I still do not know what I am looking for!” After a while of contemplation, Manav approached Atmananda who continued to ignore him. He seemed to be busy, involved in applying sacred ash on his forehead and various parts of his body, after stepping out of the dip in the river. He was illegibly mumbling some mantra.  Manav waited and when Atmananda left with his disciples, Manav followed him. It was only on the third day that he actually got to talk to Atmananda.

When Faith Nullifies the suffering of pains, Man takes another step towards liberation...

The first thing that Atmananda said after looking at Manav was “Jad hey” (This is dead). “Jeevan kithar hey”? (Where is life?”.) Manav did not know the answer. Atmananda did not wait. He kept walking. Manav followed as if mesmerized. Finally, the whole entourage reached a city. Manav hated cities. He was fine with the relative isolation that great mountains provided. He wondered why Atmananda loved the city so much, that he walked all the way downhill, over days and weeks, to reach this place of filth and greed! As if reading his thoughts, Atmananda turned and said to no one in particular ” I exist in the mountains, yet my feet are on the ground. My body does not signify my “size”. What I see is what you cannot see.” Was this a statement or a warning? Manav struggled to figure out the meaning behind these seemingly pregnant statements. Atmananda kept walking….

Manav wanted to return back to the Mountains. The Himalayas! What Peace! What Tranquility! He felt as if part of himself was still staying back in the mountains. Attachment!!! One part of his mind wanted to leave Atmananda and go back. The other part kept saying that Manav had finally found his Guru. But, Atmananda did not seem to be of Guru material at all. He was just wandering all the time and was never teaching anything significant to anyone. This was such an irony for Manav. No one around him seem to be bothered. None seemed to care about the uncertainty and hardships. Everyone seemed to just enjoy his company and wander aimlessly! Is this spirituality? Manav became even more confused than before.

Atmananda looked at him and said “Whom can you wake up?” Atmananda himself answered. “Only those who are actually sleeping and not the ones who are pretending to be asleep. What ever you do, those who pretend to sleep will not wake up. Many in the Himalayas are pretenders. I am collecting pearls in the market place!”. This was a revelation for Manav. He thought he understood the real purpose behind Atmananda’s visit to the city, but was never sure. It was very difficult to put him into any frames! He is here, perhaps to “wake up” the ignorant sleepers to ultimate realities or truths. This made some sense. This was probably his mission. A noble mission indeed. But, in this drama, what was Manav’s role? Again, deep uncertainties conquered his mind.

Love is the Food of Life. Nothing Can substitute this food. Our world is starving - for LOVE..

Atmananda again read his mind. He looked intently at Manav’s eyes and in a stern voice, like a command, he said “Go begging. Do not return back for one week. Bring whatever you can save after spending for your basic needs”. Manav was completely shaken with this suggestion. Many disturbing thoughts flocked into his mind. Manav thought “Go Begging? Why? Do Atmananda or his disciples need the money or food that I may gather through begging?” Atmananda did not look at him, nor read his mind nor answer that question. He just repeated “Go begging from tomorrow.”. He would not explain any further. The whole night, Manav did not sleep. Many conflicting emotions ran through his mind. He had not witnessed Atmananda asking anyone in his entourage to resort to begging. So why Manav? Did Atmananda hate him, and want to teach him a lesson?

Manav hailed from a good family, a reasonably rich one. He had no dearth of food or facilities ever in his childhood or youth. He was now 23 years of age. He never had to beg for food. While wandering, whenever he felt a need for money, he did odd jobs and earned some money. He was good in finance. He worked and earned his daily bread, whenever needed. The rest of the time, he traveled to holy places or to the Himalayas. He thought and thought. He could not bring himself to beg from anyone. And he also felt that he would not look like a beggar at all and that people may humiliate him. Other beggars may look at him as competition too and may ridicule him too. This would mean great embarrassment for Manav. He didn’t want anything to do with it. He could not make up his mind until morning. At 3 am, Atmananda woke up and saw Manav sitting under a street lamp. He walked towards Manav and said ” You did not sleep? Good. When you look tired and unshaven, you could fetch more money”. And he started laughing aloud. It sounded like a cruel joke. Manav became angry and upset. By then, he was resonably convinced that Atmananda’s intention was to make some money using him. Atmananda is no saint!. He is a businessman who knows his trade! Manav felt that he should leave Atmananda and leave immediately. Ignoring Manav’s emotions, Atmananda handed over a broken bowl into his hand and commanded “OK, Leave Now.” “Come back after a week”, and without waiting for any response or reaction from Manav, Atmananda walked towards the river to take a bath. Manav stood there, undecided and utterly confused. Finally, before day break, he made up his mind. He decided to go begging!

Mind Poses Conflicts. Conflicts create Stress. Ego Reins. Liberation Slips Past...

As the day broke, people started rushing up and down every street of the city. Manav started his journey in the street with his begging bowl. He had left his backpack with one of the disciples of Atmananda, who accepted it in a matter-of-fact way and expressed no compassion whatsoever at Manav’s predicament. Manav thought that even this man was as insensitive as Atmananda!

Partially out of anger and resentment against Atmananda and partially out of determination and ego, Manav took nothing with him except the broken bowl that Atmananda gave him. When he extended his bowl towards the pedestrians, some people gave him some coins. Some shooed him away. One man ridiculed him “Look at you, a healthy boy and begging!; why can’t you do some job and earn a living? You lazy bum, it is easier to beg than work eh?” Even though he begged till noon time, he could not gather sufficient money for his breakfast or lunch. Nobody seemed to be bothered, let alone compassionate! He felt a deep urge to throw the bowl away and do something more meaningful and dignified; to fetch some money and buy at least a basic meal. Atmananda will not know. He could return back after 8 days, with some money that he earned through work too. After all, it is only the money that Atmananda is after!!! But, something stopped him. It could possibly be a revenge attitude towards Atmananda or a strange satisfaction at this self-inflicted pain. There had to be some unknown reason for Atmananda to instruct him to beg. He did not know the reason. But, slowly, as the day grew, his hunger also grew and strangely, so did his determination. All day, he had survived only by drinking water from the street water taps. By evening, he got sufficient money to afford some bread. He ate that bread and drank more water. At night fall, he slept under a banyan tree in front of a temple. It was cold and windy. He had carried no blankets or any other protection against the cold. The wind was blowing and he could not sleep. He shivered. His teeth chattered. He also started developing many fears. Every sound made him shiver more. He had led himself to believe that he always braved darkness and death. Both these fears surfaced now.  And he had to face his own fears, quite alone. He felt that he could be attacked by some unknown creature, a ghost perhaps, and even be killed, if he happened to close his eyes. The darkness and shadows of everything around seemed alive, potent and heavily threatening! He realized that deep within, all the seeds of all possible fears had been existing and lying dormant, waiting to germinate in the right environment. He spent the second sleepless night in fear and confusion. Atmananda had warned him not to go back to him before the completion of 8 days. Somehow, Manav decided to fight it out. He was more worried about Atmananda ridiculing him and making fun of him in front of the others. His ego did not permit him to stop begging or go back to Atmananda. Strange are the ways of ego indeed, even at the toughest of times!

Who Knows Who comes to you with a Begging Bowl? It could be GOD too...

At day break, he walked towards the nearby river, he brushed his teeth using some tender leaves of a mango tree  crushed into a paste, which he made himself, using a stone. He used his finger to apply it on his teeth. Then he removed all his clothes except his loin cloth and kept it on the bank of the river. Many others were also taking a bath in the river. He did not want to drench his clothes as yet, as he had no spare clothes with him. Even though the water was ice cold, the bathing rejuvenated him tremendously. He took many dips in the river and felt more and more refreshed and cheerful. After a while, when he got back to the shore, he was shocked to find that all his clothes had disappeared! Everything had been stolen. There was nothing left there, except his broken begging bowl!. It was such a big embarrassment for Manav. How could he go anywhere like this? He only had his loin cloth to cover himself. What could he do now?. “Oh God, why am I being tested like this?” Hunger was creeping in. He walked in his drenched underwear and with his broken bowl towards the main streets of the city. People looked at him through various eyes; such as contempt, pity or compassion. Many thought that he was mad. Some gave him some money, even without asking. Quite surprisingly, in his new costume and without much effort, he was able to collect sufficient money to buy himself a decent breakfast. When he approached any restaurant, they would not allow him to enter. He asked for some bread and curry and paid them the exact change they demanded. Every penny was precious for him. He started taking money seriously and started feeling the value of every bit of it. He even started respecting it. He even thought that he realized the reason why people considered and worshipped money as Goddess Lakshmi!

What is Life without Kindness? What is Life without Compassion? We are all just visitors here...

The waiter of the restaurant delivered the bread and curry into his broken bowl, as they did not want to give any of their utensils to a “mad beggar”!. This was further humiliation for him. Quietly swallowing his pride and humiliation, he sat under a nearby banyan tree and started to eat. As he was about to put the first morsel in his mouth, he saw a small girl sleeping next to her mother under the banyan tree looking at him from under a blanket, which was covering both her and her mother. She smiled at him. A cute little smile. She looked as if she was hungry. Her mother was still sleeping. He smiled back and extended his hand to offer her the bread which he was about to eat. She got out of the blanket and crawled towards him, smiled again and opened her mouth expecting him to feed her. Not being very familiar with children, he showed her the bowl of curry, expecting her to join in his meal. She smiled again, innocently. Manav knew that she was too young to be technically qualified to eat her own meal. He took charge of the situation, dipped a piece of bread in the curry and put it in her mouth. She had very limited teeth, yet, she chewed well and swallowed it. Thus, he fed her most of the bread and curry. She ate quite a lot! She was really hungry, but Manav observed that she did not cry or wake up her sleeping mother, even though she was starving!. She was probably used to the hunger!!! What a lesson to learn about hunger management, that too from a small toddler!!! She smiled at him, as if in gratitude, and went back to her mother who was still sleeping. Manav found himself left with only a very little remnant of his own meal!. But, somehow, he felt deeply satisfied with this whole event. He looked again at the small girl. She was already cuddling under the blanket of her mother and was probably going back to her sleep. Manav was lost in thought for a few minutes. This lady could be a single mother, living in the street. Maybe she was a prostitute. The child might never know her father. For a brief moment in time, Manav felt that he fulfilled the role of a father to a hungry child! A deep satisfaction welled in his heart. He felt ecstatic with joy, despite his seeming tragic situation. He started understanding his mission. Manav got up and walked towards another busy street.

For the poor and hungry, FOOD IS GOD! There is nothing more noble and holy than giving food to the hungry...

In the new street, he encountered many beggars who shouted at him and threatened to beat him if he entered their territory. He experienced the competitive behavior of the commercial world there. He silently walked away to another street. This time, he did not feel any ego or humiliation.

He again started feeling his hunger. He saw a small restaurant at the corner. Even though he did not have sufficient money, Manav approached the restaurant, expecting some compassion, and asked for a banana, which was displayed outside. He thought “any food will do, even if it is remnants from a used plate”. His pride was steadily evaporating. The restaurant keeper shouted at him, showed him a stick and threatened to beat him, if he did not go away. They did not want anything to do with a naked mad man in their premises. He slowly moved to another restaurant nearby. They also did not give him anything. When he approached a table where some of their customers were having their food, the restaurant owner threw hot water at him and drove him away. Thus, hungry and drenched and also a bit burnt, he sat under a tree, with his begging bowl kept in front of him. Suddenly sadness, isolation and hunger overpowered him. He cried. He cried bitterly. Many passers by, who saw him crying, put coins in his bowl. Slowly, his sadness subsided, and he also found sufficient money for a couple of meals.

He had a good lunch. Again, the restaurant owner did not allow him to enter his restaurant. He packed the food and gave it to him outside. This time, he had over-eaten a bit. He did not eat anything in the night. Again, fears gripped him. Still he could sleep for a few hours. There was nothing to protect. He had nothing on him except his loin cloth and his begging bowl. He did not even have a blanket to cover himself. He hid behind a wall in front of a shop and sheltered himself from the cold, howling wind and spent the night there.

Thus, he spent his 8 eventful days. He begged, managed to save some money after his expenses, and returned to Atmananda after 8 days. When he reached the place where he had left Atmananda, he could not find him or any of his disciples. They had already left the place. Nobody knew where he was and because of  Manav’s condition, nobody would even talk to him, let alone guide him. He was naked, shabby and quite unpresentable, in social terms. Using his intuition, he walked towards the north. Two days later, on the 10th day, he found Atmananda. He approached him and gave him the coins he had saved from his begging trip. As he had expected, Atmananda did not display any compassion, kindness or even a smile or signs of recognition. Atmananda took the money and without saying or asking anything, immediately distributed it amongst the people who were around him!. Manav felt like crying. Every penny of that was quite precious to him, because it represented the great pain and humiliation he had endured. Atmananda did not even say a word of consolation or even respect his hard earned money! Manav even thought of committing suicide. He was reaching his nerves’ ends.

Tradition Sometimes Seem to be Cruel, only out of Kindness and Compassion for the seeker...

Atmananda looked at Manav and said “Take a bath, you stink”. This was the limit! A frustrated Manav immediately left Atmananda, collected his baggage from the keeper and went to the river to take bath. On the shore, he sat and wept uncontrollably. He felt useless and like a complete waste. He felt stupid and lost. After shedding all his tears and after a good bath, he felt slightly better. After getting into some clean clothes, Manav started feeling even better. He had made up his mind to leave Atmananda and pursue spirituality on his own. He could not accept nor did he like the style in which Atmananda operated. He considered it as quite insensitive, sadistic and cruel.

When he came back to tell Atmananda about his decision, the saint said. “So, you are now ready to be with me. Good. You have come to terms with all your fears. You have conquered your fears of being alone, being naked, having to beg, and having to ask strangers. You have already conquered your ego to a great extent. Now, you are fit to be in my path. The path of pathlessness. The path of simplicity. The path of purity and lack of expectation. You are welcome to travel with me.” Saying this Atmananda started walking.

In the lap of a Grand Tradition...Life Eternally Flows....

Manav found that he no longer had any anger in him. No feeling of humiliation. In the 10 days of living the life of a beggar, he had faced many harsh realities, which had smoothed all the sharp edges of his character. He had many experiences which helped him to see life from different angles. It helped him in his detachment towards life. He started respecting everything, every being. He started seeing value in everything. He started respecting food, clothes. He started seeing the difference in awareness of people. He started feeling the value of kindness and compassion. He started feeling and understanding the relevance of LOVE in the existence. So many changes in 10 days. He understood why so many people were following Atmananda. He understood the way in which he was imparting knowledge. Practical training and complete annihilation of ego. Thus Manav found his path of liberation. He knew that he would never be the same again.

Babaji – Beyond Definitions – Part 2

Beyond Space and Time, Beyond Definitions, exists the Guru… Humble Prostrations…

I surrender all my thoughts and words associated with this blog at Babaji’s feet. Mohan writing about an Avatar like Babaji is the same like a drop of water conveying something about the ocean. All I am trying to do is to humbly attempt to describe my experiences with Babaji – if at all this creates any effect in you, the credit goes to Babaji. This is a continuation from the previous blog with the same title.

My next experience with Babaji requires a brief intro.

More or less throughout 2005, I was unemployed, experiencing deep financial crisis. However, this was the time when my spiritual life was really blossoming. After a tough tenure in Iraq in 2004, despite insurgency and death threats, I had returned back to the relative quiet of home in India, without a job and without anything specific to do, apart from the charity activities. I had decided that whatever crisis happen, I will never use even a single dime from the charity funds for my personal purpose. I stuck to that decision, against all odds.

At that time, I was associated with one spiritual Guru and his ashram (I refrain from using his name to avoid inconveniences). He was more like a spiritual brother to me. He was also involved in many charity activities and that was my main interest. Apart from that there was no knowledge or power transfer of any kind between us. I was also involved in simple administration matters of the ashram in an ephemeral way, free of cost, and was occasionally travelling with this Guru, when he was moving around. I met many people who came to visit him and had made many acquaintances during those times. Most of those connections vanished as fast as they appeared.

Relative anonymity allowed deep contemplation on Self.

On one such occasion, I met an American man called Richard and his friend Cathy (names changed to maintain anonymity) from UK. They had come to meet this Guru. Richard was a big, sporty, muscular man, while Cathy was shy and quiet. I met them several times during their stay there and interacted with them briefly, whenever we met. Cathy stayed there only for a week while Richard stayed on for two weeks.

On the day Cathy was leaving, after taking the blessings from the Guru, she and Richard came to the room where I was sitting. Cathy came to me and said: “I do not know why, but I feel that this trip would be incomplete, if I did not take your blessings too before I go.” Richard was also with her. She was standing. I stood up and put my palm on her head (even though nowadays, during Shaktipat and our meditation sessions, many of you had experiences of this kind, please note that this incident with Cathy happened way back, when I was far from conducting any classes and was a complete anonymous, a non-entity per se). A very strong energy started flowing from my hand – she started shivering and fell into a trance. I helped her to sit down and she thus remained in deep trance for some time. Richard was watching this. There was nobody else in the room.

In the sublime state of beingness, Realities Alter…

With Cathy next to us in deep trance, Richard asked me “May I hold your hand?” I said “Sure.” We both sat down and he took my hand and kissed it. Vividly moved, he suddenly exclaimed: “It was JESUS!!! It was JESUS, I bet!!! He was blessing Cathy. Such a powerful energy!!! So much love!!!” He thanked me repeatedly and held my hand for about 30 minutes until Cathy came out of her trance. She had tears in her eyes. She hugged me and said: “I would have missed this, if I did not ask you. I always trust my inner guidance. Whenever I saw you here, I always felt that you are a silent mystery. You are not what you seem to be. Your inner depth is visible in your eyes. Now I realize who you are. I am grateful.” I laughed and said: “Cathy, I am an empty pot. I depend on what fills into me. Mohan does not exist at all. It is as simple as that.” Richard got up and hugged me. Both Cathy and Richard had tears in their eyes. I never met Cathy again, till date. However, from then onwards, I became very close with Richard, who returned to the ashram after dropping Cathy to the airport. Our friendship continued, with many unexpected blessings of the Masters.

The Fire of Deep Spirituality Sustains us…

The Babaji Connection – Richard’s Story

Richard was born in USA. He had a troublesome childhood and turbulent youth. He grew up as a rebel, fighting against one thing or the other. All his relationships were chaotic. He had series of fights, problems and police cases. Thus, while leading an aimless and reckless life, one day, he walked into a book store to pick up a greeting card for his girlfriend. As soon as he entered, he saw a shelf full of new arrivals. One particular book with a picture of a bare-chested boyish man sitting cross legged, instantly caught his attention. And next to the book stood the man who was depicted on the cover – in the same costume, half-naked. He was surprised. He had never seen such a costume, ever in life. And he thought it could be some kind of a book-signing ceremony and this person could be marketing his own book.

Richard was not interested in any books. So, he went to the area of the shop where Greeting Cards were displayed. He picked up the card of his choice and, while walking back to the payment counter, he saw the man again, still standing next to the book. Surprisingly, he found that nobody else was noticing him or bothering him, even out of curiosity. This was quite strange in such a crowded shop. When Richard looked at him, he smiled and beckoned him to come near. Unconsciously, Richard just moved towards him. He called Richard by name. He was shocked!!! “How does this half-naked man know me?!” – Richard thought.  He looked up to read the title of the book. It said “BABAJI”. That meant absolutely nothing to Richard. The half-naked man started talking:” How are you, Richard?” In that moment, Richard realized that he could not speak. His tongue was not moving. The man smiled and continued to talk. He simply narrated all the important events of Richard’s life as if the book of his life was opened before him. Richard was literally spell bound. Then he said: “We will meet again. I will tell you many more things, which you need to know and the world needs to know”. Soon after he uttered that, Richard could not find him anywhere. He had disappeared!

Richard became dizzy with amazement. He could not understand what just happened to him. Fearing that listeners will ridicule him, he did not tell about this event to a single soul. He kept it a closely guarded secret. (We must remember that Richard had never been religious, spiritual or spiritually inclined. He never had friends of that nature too).

Days went by. Richard started getting many messages from this man, telepathically. And many a times, he would suddenly see the man standing next to him, even if he was inside his house, doors locked. All Richard knew was that this man is called BABAJI and that he is very special. Some messages were prophetic – they were about the events that, sooner or later, actually did happen/would happen in his life or around him. Thus, day by day, Richard’s connection with this mystery man increased. His life also changed rapidly. He became sober, cool, collected – he even started meditating! He obeyed the new advisor, word by word. And whenever he disobeyed… – he always ended up in serious trouble.

Divinity Cares… But Who appreciates!!!!

One such incident was: Richard had bought a new car and had promised his girlfriend that he would take her to the beach that day, in his new car. Babaji told him “Do not drive today, stay at home.” He decided to ignore Babaji’s suggestion and went ahead with his appointment. As soon as he hit the road, he met with an accident. Even though he was unhurt, his beautiful new car was badly damaged.

On another occasion, Babaji told him not to meet his girlfriend on a particular morning. He ignored that and met her. They ended up in a major argument over a silly matter and, out of fury, his girlfriend smashed the windows of his new car. Once again, he was reminded of the importance of obeying Babaji’s commands.

And one day Babaji told Richard to go to a particular desert area and meditate there the whole night. There was no resistance from Richard this time because, by then, he had learnt his lessons well. While meditating, he was suddenly abducted into an alien space ship and had a strange communion with highly evolved aliens. This happened two times more. And every time it happened, Richard found that something was shifting within him, for the better. His subtlety level increased manifold.

Soon enough, he started giving lectures and taking classes about life, spirituality and healthy living. His audience increased day by day. This surprised him, as he had no previous background or education to handle the subject matter, and yet, everything seemed so effortless. Naturally, ego started bloating. He started feeling better off than others who are existing in the normal emotional plane of existence, suffering from the regular guilts, anxieties and fears. Every time he took a class or gave a lecture, he saw that Babaji was always present and watching, without interfering. It was as if Babaji was like a supervisor, making sure that his disciple is doing everything well. Richard knew very well that Babaji was transferring knowledge through him, into the world. He felt proud because he was the chosen one, out of millions. Steadily but surely, Richard’s ego grew more and more, along with his popularity.

Inspiration leads to Confidence. When Confidence leads to Ego, Man Falls…

One day, everything was set for a live TV show, with live audience. When the show began and Richard was shining on the stage, he suddenly realized that his mentor was missing. All those days, only Richard could see him, nobody else could. But now all of a sudden, he was not to be found anywhere! So there he was, standing on the stage with an empty mind. He felt as if his soul had left his body – he was an empty shell that had nothing to give. He did not know what to say and what to do. The TV show had to be called off and this brought money loss and disgrace to Richard. His new preaching career was shattered beyond repair! And his ego was completely deflated. When everybody left, Babaji appeared, as if nothing ever happened. Richard understood the harsh lesson, fell at the feet of Babaji and cried. Babaji said:” Ego is the barrier between man and God. Ownerships mean alienation from the eternal Truth. The fatter you become with ego, the more difficult will it be for you to enter my world. Ego should not be allowed to grow in weight and size. Service should always be selfless, without ownerships. Purpose should be pure, without expectations. Grace disappears when ego appears.” Richard learnt this truth the hard way. After that incident, Babaji asked him to pack his bag and move to India. He did so and that’s where we met.

My First Communion

Richard became very close to me, after the incident with Cathy. Till such time, he was minding his own business, ignoring everyone around him, including me. On the day of my first communion with Babaji, Richard and I were having dinner at the ashram. The Guru of the ashram was travelling. Both myself and Richard were staying in adjacent rooms at the same hostel, near the ashram. Cathy had left a few days earlier. Over the days, Richard and I shared our stories and experiences with each other – a deep mutual respect developed between us. He said that he could see multiple Masters working through me and that touched him deeply. I kept reiterating: “All masters are one and I am an empty pot. I contain everyone.”

Through the Wings of Time, We meet again and again…

That evening, while having dinner, I suddenly received a telepathic command ”Come to the Pooja room” (room for prayer and worship). I immediately got up, did not tell anything to Richard, washed my hands and mouth, and went into the Pooja room. I sat down and started meditating. I thought that it was Shirdi Sai Baba who called me, as I was, by then, familiar with His style (at that point in time, I already had several communions with Shirdi Sai Baba, receiving his guidance telepathically). His style was always abrupt and matter-of-facted. As soon as I prepared to meditate, the voice told me again: “Do not meditate. I am working on you.” Immediately, strange bubbles started to rise from every cell of my body. I felt the bubbles rising, clustering, conglomerating, moving and bursting. It felt as if someone was massaging my insides. This went on for a few minutes. Meanwhile, the voice explained to me about my tradition, path and the importance of the Golden path, i.e. the path of Shiva – path of perfect beingness, total nullification, annihilation and dissolution. Suddenly, a curiosity arose in my mind as to who is doing this and transferring all this great knowledge to me. I asked: “Is that you, Baba?” Immediately, a glimpse of Babaji in lotus posture appeared in my inner vision, stayed for a second, and disappeared. I was surprised. I never communed with Babaji before and it was not easy for me to accept that this was indeed happening. His “work” on me continued, along with the knowledge transfer.

After sometime, again, the doubt formed in my mind: ”Am I tripping or is this really Babaji?” Quite stupidly, I asked the question again: ” Babaji, is this really you? I cannot believe this is happening.” Immediately, movements started to subside within me. The messages stopped and everything became silent. Complete silence. No movement. I felt that even my heart beat and respiration had stopped. I sat like that for some time, all the while being aware of my transparent state and barrier-less awareness. I do not remember how much time I sat there.

When everything subsided and stopped, after a few minutes, I got up and started walking towards my room. It was already late at night. While I walked to the gate of the ashram, which was about 300 feet away from the house with Pooja room, Richard was standing at the gate. As soon as he saw me, he smiled and asked: ”So, you doubted whether it was Babaji?” You can imagine my shock at that question. A man standing so far away had actually understood everything that was happening to me, inside the room – and that too, in silence. The whole communion was telepathic and Richard knew it all!!! That was a revelation for me. I realized how strongly connected he was, with Babaji. I started having better understanding about the stature of Richard and the meaning of his native silence. My respect towards him grew manifold. I also felt that his spending so much time with me and for me was Babaji’s design, and I felt deeply honored. Babaji indeed takes utmost care. Babaji means Kindness and Compassion.

Great Masters, through a Thousand Eyes, Watch the progress of each Soul…Unconditional Love is the Expression.

A week later, we parted and I went back to Dubai. Richard went back to his temporary abode in a small town in India and, a month later, he sent me a beautiful picture of Babaji with a note: “To whomever I have gifted this picture, Babaji has appeared. I can see that Babaji loves you a lot.” I was deeply touched with Richard’s expression of pure love. I expressed my deepest gratitude to him.

In Dubai, I entered into a new job – as the CEO of a Logistics firm. My financial situation was improving, but between 2005 and 2007, I had no further communion with Babaji. However, during that time, I had the Shiva Experience, about which I shall narrate in the third part of this trilogy. There had been great shifts within, as far as spirituality was concerned. Yet, even though it was very difficult for me to balance the spiritual evolution happening at rocket speed and the terrestrial jobs, I decided that I will work for my living. I wanted to avoid all kinds of dependency. Spirituality has always been so private and sacred for me, that I decided never to sell it for my existence. When ever someone approached me, seeking knowledge or spiritual guidance, I always gave them whatever they could take, without expectations, maintaining perfect purity.

Purity is the spine of spirituality. I hope, with the grace of the Supreme Masters, that I will be able to maintain it until I shed this body. Non violence in thought, word and action, as well as selfless service, make us established in higher spirituality, beyond all man-made barriers.

Our debts towards Mother Earth are cleared only through selfless service

Thus, at the time I mentioned above, I was immersed in my own work and various spiritual exercises, subtly and benevolently guided by the Masters. I also made it a point to meet and pay reverence to the spiritual Gurus in their body, whenever I could. Since money was still scarce, I did not attend many paid spiritual classes. When ever I met or interacted with any living Master, I did it with absolute surrender and total dedication. Only if we empty our mind can we receive. If we approach a Guru with a filled up mind, what can he contribute to us?

Meanwhile, I became deeply connected with Sai Baba and had a few great experiences such as sacred ash and nectar flowing out of my crown chakra several times, etc. As far as possible, I kept my silence and anonymity. I never discussed my spirituality with anyone – I thought it is far too sacred to express in words, as words are too limited.

Love of Masters cannot be explained in words, it needs to be experienced…

My charity activities went on without any hindrance and many people joined me in those activities from various parts of the world. However, my spiritual practices were more personal and only a few were involved. At that time, a need for introversion was taking root strongly in me and any public display of spirituality created a shrinking feeling within. So, I kept away from the crowd and was swimming in the pool of spirituality within – I was well contended with that.

During 2006/2007 many a times I felt disillusioned with the cunningness, deceit, lies, treachery and similar negativities of the urban existence. I started feeling that I am a misfit in that rat race. I wanted to get out of it all – nothing that the city offered fascinated me anymore. I felt no interest in the fleeting glitters and artificial relationships of the city life. I actually went to Himalayas three times, on different occasions, when disillusionment reached a high pitch within to spend the rest of my life there. Each time, I was sent back with the same message: “You have much to do for the world.” That did not mean anything to me at that time. But, I returned back each time and immersed myself in my work and charity service, while I kept my spirituality, literally, under cover.

One thing that I realized during that time was – there is no need to go anywhere. Spirituality takes place where ever you are. All you need is eligibility and complete ego-less surrender. Anonymity helped to check ego and stay connected.

During 2006 and 2007, I often used to reach a situation of total blank state of mind. I would not even know my name or identity. I used to forget my signature. All identities would get erased. Thankfully, this state usually used to last only for a day or two. The maximum it lasted was one week. Each time it happened, I used to come out from it with a fresh consciousness. It was like a fresh butterfly coming out of a cocoon. Each such blank state used to be a shift or elevation in consciousness and it was kind of a metamorphosis.

The most difficult part was, it was impossible for me to explain my state to any of my colleagues as this was definitely not in a job description of a General Manager responsible for any organization. By the Grace of Masters, with their protection and blessing, no mishap happened during those times of emptiness. This was another realization: Whenever a seeker is exposed to such metamorphosis, the Masters take total control. They protect. This is my experience. We need not be close to any physical Guru per se. The protection is guaranteed. Such shifts are of different nature in each person. Sometimes they are very drastic.

In my case, before these shifts started happening, I had undergone a series of radical, life changing events, which can be called “consistent removals” – I lost my only daughter in a road accident, I separated from my wife, my belongings got stolen, I lost all my savings in a property deal, I lost my job, I also contracted a nagging skin allergy which was preventing me from sleeping or wearing certain materials on the body. I had to apply certain lotions every one hour and it was still very painful. All in all, life became a series of bitter agonies. Usually, in such times of deep pain, we will be alone. I was also friend-less and companion-less. Thus, everything was stripped from me, all my physical comforts were removed. And yet, at this time, spirituality soared. Awareness levels reached different dimensions. Masters took care.

Time and Space are not in our Control…Yet, time and space unite us.

One afternoon, after lunch, I felt that my senses were becoming dull or numb. I was in my office in Dubai. I decided to go home and rest. I got into my car and started driving home. On the way, I observed that someone was talking to me, instructing me to do a specific kind of breathing, which I did, while driving at the same time. I started diving within more and more, into a trance-like state…

Then the instruction came to shift my awareness to mind and thoughts. Soon enough, they also started subsiding. I barely managed to reach the building where I stayed, park my car, and reach my room. I somehow managed to close the door and lie down on my bed, facing the ceiling. The mobile phone which was in my hand, fell on the bed. I could not switch it off or put it into a silent mode. (Surprisingly, my mobile phone did not ring that whole evening. Thus, Babaji took care of all aspects).

I lied down, staring at the ceiling, in complete trance, as if paralyzed. I could not move a finger, even if I wanted to. Thus I remained from 3pm till about 9pm. That was the longest communion that I had with Babaji. My awareness was crystal clear. Body was immobile. Babaji told me many things, once again, about my path, the tradition that I belong to, the higher unity or unity between all Masters, purpose of life, and all the knowledge that I might need to continue with my mission of this life. I asked him many questions, which He patiently clarified (I do not have the permission to narrate the entire communication here, nor is it necessary – those were just clarifications and guidance, not futuristic predictions).

Biba leaning on Babaji’s shoulder, with tears of Gratitude….A Unique Picture!!!!

In between, at around 8pm, Biba (Biljana) came to visit me. I could see her parking the car in front of my building (it was only then that I noticed that, in this heightened state of awareness, I had a sort of an X-ray vision and could easily see through the walls, furniture, etc. My apartment was on the third floor). Babaji permitted her to come and ask questions about something that was bothering her for several years (by this time, she was used to my trance states and was thus not surprised to see me in one, even though a 6 hour stint was surely unusual). She was even allowed to write down some of the messages.

Faith and Purity – The two pillars of spiritual existence

By 9.30pm, Babaji left me. Before that, I asked him: “Babaji, how can I reach you?” He replied: ”Do not worry. I will reach you.” At one point in our conversation, my Anahata expanded so much and I felt such overwhelming love towards this Supreme Master, that I felt like articulating that to him telepathically: “Babaji, I feel deep love for you. I really love you.” He cut that off abruptly: “Cut that nonsense.” – there was no time for formalities. There was nothing to give or take. It was a grand collaboration. All were a part of it. I started becoming aware of that.

Thus, I reached the second level of my communion with Babaji. I realized fully, through Babaji Boy, Richard and my own communion, that Babaji is just a name to call a phenomenon. He is not a man or just a Guru. He is representing the God Almighty in all His subtlety. Words cannot explain Him. I started realizing that I know nothing about Babaji. In fact, I know nothing at all.   We cannot even fathom his stature or size. Babaji operates in various lokas or planes. He is guiding thousands of beings. He has no form or gender. We cannot restrict him to any form, any thought or any word. He is eternal. He is omnipresent. He is right here, right now. He is everywhere. As Babaji Boy told me, ”Babaji does not exist in a body – he exists in every body. Moreover, he assumes a body, which the other can identify, when he needs to interact with someone, and discards it as soon as he is done with his temporary requirement. Just like we wear special clothes when we go out to meet people, he wears a body when he needs to interact.”

I hope the above narration helps the reader to have some understanding and higher awareness about the Great Master whom we can call Babaji, for identification’s sake. He is nameless, genderless, formless, and yet exists everywhere. Thank You, for being with me, here and now. Babaji Bless You.

Aum Babaji!

Love To All,

M

I am an Empty Pot. Yet, I give all that I have…

Krishna – The Lord Almighty

The Playful Lord

“Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum” A leader, A master par excellence, A supreme Avatar, A lover, A King, A true friend, A Child, A husband, A politician, You name it – Krishna is it. We can hardly see an Avatar so versatile and so powerful. He also represented the eternal principles of dharma like the previous avatars of Lord Vishnu, and carried out His mission in a style and flair that stunned the entire universe. Krishna inspired generations and keeps inspiring generations even now. His life has been so versatile, that everyone interpreted it the way he/ she could understand and the fact remains that most mis understood and mis – interpreted.

Great Expressions of an Avatar

This “vaasudeva” represented the Supreme Lord, Parabrahma. He said “those who leave off everything and surrender to me, I will take care of them”. He has always been speaking on behalf of the Supreme Lord. He said – “Before the sun was, I am”. He was never representing the finite form called Krishna. He was the supreme soul, reflecting through the rather limited and tangible form of Krishna. The body called Krishna was only a medium. A powerful medium at that. The Supreme soul, Lord Vishnu, the omnipresent, was absorbed in the Divine play, as blissfully and as authoritatively as the Almighty can ever express itself. “The whole universe is filled with nothing but  the energy of Vaasudeva. I bow to the Vaasudeva in all beings” – Sage Vyasa said.

The Child

As with all the great Masters, Krishna’s life itself was His teaching. Innocence and absolute awareness. It goes hand in hand. All children are innocent and at that level, they operate always in the present. They do not have any anxieties or fears until the adults give it to them. Innocence needs awareness. Awareness brings innocence, as ego gets diluted drastically. Krishna had a turbulent childhood, as his maternal uncle Kamsa  constantly tried to kill Krishna, fearing his own death at the hands of his nephew Krishna, due to a prophecy. Nothing worked. Krishna remained invincible. Destiny had its own plan as the world was reeling in adharma, or decay in dharma, and the world badly needed an Avatar. An Avatar was inevitable, “to rescue dharma from decay and eradicate adharma”. No ordinary mortals could have achieved such a mighty task. Hence the Divine Himself came to earth to put things straight.

No parent will want a child like Krishna, if they fathom the troubles this child was going through during His childhood. Who will want so many threats to his child’s life? Kamsa repeatedly sent ferocious demons to put Krishna to death. He survived it all. It is fascinating to note that a tiny little Krishna handled and despatched mighty demons many times his size and walked away as if nothing ever took place. Krishna’s childhood was full of pranks and it created annoyance to many. Being an Avatar, He liberated many by His presence, words, and sometimes actions. Someone who died at His hands, immediately got moksha or liberation.

He was born in a prison. He lived all his childhood away from his biological parents. His foster parents loved Him equally. They provided for Him and made sure He was well “protected”. Who can understand an Avatar in flesh and blood? Human mind has not developed to that level. One should be operating from higher consciousness to understand an Avatar and actually feel his presence as well as enjoy and be benefited from it. In fact, His presence was protecting everyone else. Once, as a small, inquisitive child, he ate soil from the ground. Mother Yasoda asked him to open his mouth to verify. He opened His mouth and Yasoda saw the whole universe in that mouth. She could not believe what she saw. Her son was indeed extra ordinary. Because of pranks and complaints from neighbors, she even tied him to an object. He moved with the object and liberated two cursed souls, standing there as trees. Thus, bound or unbound, He went ahead with His mission.

The Youth

Even as a child, He was the center of attraction of all the villagers. He was dark, as clouds before the rain. He was charming and great energy flowed from Him. He smelled of sandalwood and divine flowers when ever He came close. He grazed cattle and played flute. Cattle stopped grazing and stood around Him, listening to His flute, the whole day. Many liberated souls chose another birth as cattle to be near the Lord. When an Avatar takes place, many beings choose terrestrial births to aid the Avatar or just be in His energy presence. One touch or look from Him can elevate a soul to the highest possible heights of bliss or  ‘sat chit ananda’.

The Lord versus Ego

One of the most interesting incidents that happened in Krishna’s youth was the surrendering of the mighty serpent Kaliya, who was poisoning the river, contaminating the water. Krishna jumped on Kaliya’s various heads and danced. Finally, out of fatigue and pain, the serpent vomitted poison which burnt the grass and trees around him. Later, his wives pleaded and begged Krishna for forgiveness and to spare their husband. Out of pain and fatigue, Kaliya also surrendered at the feet of the Lord. Kaliya represents ourselves. His thousand heads represents our multi-faceted ego. Krishna’s dance represents the beatings that we receive on our ego, time and again, to ground us and bring us closer to the Almighty. Ego is one of the biggest barriers that alienate us from divinity. In everyone’s life, destiny deflates it time after time, through compelling and unavoidable tragic situations. Some get it many times in life, which depends entirely on one’s track. If one’s track is spiritual, then it happens more. Destiny annihilates all attachments consistently, if the person is in the track of liberation. Destiny strips him and makes him naked. Whatever  one’s track is, nobody can avoid ego bashing of destiny. Nobody is immune to it. When this happens through someone whom we cannot avoid, we spit venom. We lose cool. We blame and shout. This is our nature. Out of helplessness, we run to the feet of God. We remember God at that time at least.

When ego is hurt, at first, we become violent, venom comes out through our senses and mind. It can even burn all things, including the people and relationships around us. There is nothing more harmful than a hurt ego. Finally, when all the venom is exhausted, and mind gets famished after all the venom has been spit out, we surrender to the will of the Almighty. When ego is gone, we experience the love of God. Thus, Krishna taught the world a beautiful lesson on human constitution and the significance of ego bashing. Kaliya Mardana (the defeat of Kaliya) means ego bashing. When Kaliya, the serpent, surrendered to Krishna, He graciously allowed him to exist there with his wife and children, without harming other life and without polluting the water any further. This was also part of his dharma which contributed to his purpose of visit – the preservation of dharma. Now many commercial Kaliyas are contaminating the rivers of the world these days. Dharma of the nature will eradicate them too, sooner or later.

Raas Leela

Everyone loves Love. Everyone Loves to receive Love. Everyone Loves to feel and express Love. Everyone loves those who love everyone. Even plants, birds and animals respond positively to love. Love is powerful. Love is universal. Love transforms. Love conquers. Love establishes faith. Faith establishes love. Love is the bottom-line. Everyone loved Krishna, because Krishna expressed love unconditionally. His energy was so pure and powerful that men, women, birds and animals sought his proximity always and would give anything to be near Him. When he played the flute, men, women and children, birds, animals, trees and plants, rejoiced in the divinity of His music and the ultimate silence behind His music. It lifted all beings to metaphysical realms. People danced and sang. They rejoiced life, existence and the rare presence of an Avatar amongst them. No signs were needed. The supreme energy that flowed out of Him was unmistakable. The ecstasy that he created by His sheer presence is the actual Raas Leela. Readers may kindly note that, unlike the pictures that we have traditionally seen, it was not only beautiful maidens, but also,  old Gopikas, men and children, people of all age and gender that used to rush towards Krishna when ever they heard his flute. Divine energy is so addictive. It is so liberating. The very sight of an Avatar can liberate beings from terrestrial births and deaths. So, every soul that felt the energy and power of Krishna, came to Him. Souls were in bodies of many kinds, which included, men, women, children, birds and animals. The bathing of individual soul in the divine energy of the supreme soul is the actual raas leela. Kindly do not interpret/reduce this beautiful union to just physical love making. That would amount to degrading the stature of the real Krishna, the supreme Parabrahma. The experience could have been orgasmic. That is the experience one receives when he/she experiences the bliss of cosmic consciousness, a prolonged orgasmic bliss which is eternal and genuine.

His Wives

Krishna is blamed of marrying too many – 16008 Wives, to be precise. Who can manage so many? Who would dare? Jokes apart, the reality is something else. He conquered a kingdom run by a selfish, dictatorial king (name is not important here, which will only deviate our thoughts from the real subject). Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. So, Krishna whose mission was to set the dharma right, went about conquering this kingdom. After the conquest, he freed all the prisoners. There were many men, women and even children in prisons. He told them all ” You are free now. Go back to your families and live peacefully. If you have any problem, or if anyone bothers you, please let me know. I would do what I can, to help you.” All of them left for their homes. Men managed to survive. Even now, in our society, men who make money are respected, irrespective of how they make it. Women always get a different treatment in any society. So,  their society being as conservative as always and not willing to accept ex convicts in their homes, they feared that this would picture them in the wrong light in the eyes of the society. It could also affect alliances and relationships with other families. So, the relatives of the ex convicts politely refused to accept them in their houses. They had nowhere to go. They went back to Krishna and told him, “Oh lord, you liberated us. Now we are in deeper problem. In the prison, we used to get three meals a day. Now, we are starving. Please put us back in the prison and allow us to complete this life in peace. We do not want to live as a burden or disturbance to our relatives.” Krishna immediately called his ministers and ordered to get all the women who came back to him – counting 16008, the status of his “Royal Wives”.  The status of “Raja Patni” automatically gave them many privileges, including a fixed allowance from the palace, a house and many other things. This gave all the ex convicts respectability in the society. They got much respect and even some men were ready to marry the younger ones among them. Thus, Krishna uplifted the standards of all those women who might have otherwise perished inside the prison or in the more ruthless society. This was a great deed. The world has not seen anything so magnanimous and benevolent before or after the time of Krishna. Still we accuse him of being a womanizer or a marrying man. Is it our mind that is tripping? Are we projecting the womanizer within us on Krishna, who conveniently is everything that we make him of? All images suit Him. All seasons suit Him. He is a complete Avatar. If you want to experience His presence and power, the Guruvayoor temple in Thrissur district in Kerala must be visited. The power and glory of the Lord is so tangible there. Then, of course, Mathura and Vrindavan. We can feel Krishna, if you can escape the greed of  “pandas”, the priestly class of Vrindavan. I always felt deeply connected with Guruvayoor, where thousands worship each day.

Lord Krishna as Guruvayoorappan. A tangible God.

The Politician

Krishna was the architect of the great war of Mahabharatha. Being omnipresent, he knew what to do and when. Just imagine the state of the inadequate Pandavas without the support of Krishna!!! Krishna gave away the substantial yaadava army to Kauravas and stayed unarmed with Paandavas, with a vow that He will not use arms ever, during the war. Many people accuse him of compromising truth during war. He was delivering the higher dharma. He had a clear mission of annihilating dictatorial monarchy and establishing rule based on dharma. So, He was doing His job, the purpose of His incarnation. In the middle of the battlefield, He conveyed the eternal principles of existence, the sum total of all scriptures, in the form of Gita. Arjuna who was depressed by the thought that He would eventually have to kill his own kin, was rejuvenated by Krishna, through his words and His showing His actual form, a kind of enlightenment experience, which altered Arjuna’s state of consciousness, made him more objective and ready for the fight. Krishna weaved the fabric of annihilation of selfishness and re installed the dharmic life on earth. He said, “Whenever dharma is in decay, I HAPPEN again and again”. An avatar is a happening. Avatar happens only for a certain purpose and exits as easily as it appeared. As Sri Rama, He had killed Bali, hidden behind a tree. This is against dharma. While resting in a forest, a hunter who was Bali’s rebirth, mistaking the feet of Krishna for a deer, sent an arrow which hit Krishna. Krishna thus compensated for his action of killing Bali, as Rama. Karma definitely comes around. This is an important lesson. It was perhaps not that arrow that killed Krishna. His mission was accomplished and He was leaving anyway. Yet, He put this matter also straight, before He left His body. He even got the selfish and warring Yadava army annihilated before He left. We can write pages and pages about Krishna, who is a complete Avatar. Maybe we will talk more at some other time.

I wish all of you the CONSCIOUSNESS of KRISHNA

Love YOU

The Power of Losing

Many Mouths - Same Truth

Over the years, I have had the privilege of witnessing and participating in many communions – physically and metaphysically. Usually, in planes other than earth, the communions are more like a sharing of consciousness or conscious awareness. This means, one’s  thought becomes everyone’s understanding. There are no questions and answers because there is no intellect to question. Silence carries the awareness. Here are some excerpts. There are much more. Some day, I hope to share more.

The Power of LOSING

We sat under the tree in a state of absolute bliss and overwhelming gratefulness. I prostrated at His feet mentally. He acknowledged by clasping his hands and extending pranaams. Whenever our eyes locked, we offered pranaams and Namaskaars to each other. The bliss of being with a complete renunciate!!!

He smiled internally. It is similar to the smile of very small children during sleep. Nobody can understand the reason behind those smiles and the tears of those tiny babies. He smiled and looked into my eyes again. Then looked away. I was just watching and inhaling the overwhelming presence of a Great Master. About eleven of us sat under the tree, on the banks of Ganges, close to the Avadhoota.

He said: “All of  you have come here from afar. Why have you come searching for me? What can I give you which you already do not have? I have nothing to give anyone. All I have, you have too.  Why did you have to come spending so much money and time? To see a naked, mad man?” and he laughed again. This was all in Hindi.

A Spiritual Emperor

I said: “You called us. We came. Without your calling, we cannot come here. All we need is your blessings”. He looked into my eyes again. Then looked away, into eternity for sometime. He said: “Do you hear the birds singing? How did you hear that? Your mind went there to the tree along with your ears? Mind should not go away from you. It should stay within you. The birds will sing, but, they will sing within you. There are no birds, outside of you. Everything is within you. Do you understand me?” I nodded. He was not talking. He was commanding. His words were commands which must work within all listeners. I felt His power and depth. The authority was astounding. A man who remains unclothed and unattached expressed the conviction and authority of an Emperor. That was his stature.

The Sound of Silence

Another person asked: “Swami, the forests are vanishing. Where can a seeker find peace?” He answered: “Who needs forests? Who is making them vanish? If you cannot find peace where ever you are, you cannot find peace in the forests too. Peace is always inside the man, not outside. You cannot find peace outside, if your inner space is in chaos. Clean up your inner space with good thoughts, words and residue of actions. You will have peace everywhere else. The world outside is just an expression of yourself. There is no outside world apart from you. You make it. You break it. You make everything within you. You break everything within you. So, there is no point in going to forests to find peace. You will be more restless.

Echoes of One Father - SHIVOHAM

He said: “People are teaching about chakras, naadis, aura and kundalini! People are chasing sensations! People are so stuck with the thoughts of kosas (sheaths) and its accessories. HA HA HA. What is the use? More ego? When will you stop looking at yourself (your accessories) and look at Your Self? People give elaborate lectures about Kundalini moving through Mooladhara, Swaaadhishtaana, Manipura etc. What is the use of meat to a vegetarian? What is the use of knowledge when it is of no real use, and only creates more chaos within? We have to leave off all such knowledge and move higher. We have to shed names and images and move higher. How long will we hold on to such things? And what for? Eventually, everything must dissolve.

The true happiness is in losing. Losing every thing that added to the weight of your existence. The true happiness is that of someone who has nothing inside. Nothing to defend. Nothing to fear. Nothing to run away from. Nothing to do. Nothing to prove. Nothing to think. Nothing to achieve. Nothing!!! No needs. No requirements. Lose everything. Name, fame, image, thoughts, knowledge. Lose everything. You will experience the causeless joy and wonder of your eternal spirit. You will experience the true state of liberation – Jeevan Mukta.

Temptations Lure Minds. Wisdom Prevents the Fall.

He then took a glass and said: “Man is holding on to his toys, just like a child who cannot let go of his toys. Man is a child and the only difference is in his size, not in his outlook or attitude. Oh Man!!! When will you let go? When will you let go of your toys? Nature always ends up forcefully removing those toys and dispatching you from existence, time and again. No control on his own life and no control on his death too!!! What a misery!!! Oh Man!!! What can I say? What can I give you? You are so crammed up inside!

Go away. You can get nothing from me. Many come here to see if I can reduce their baggage of suffering!!! How can I release you from anything, when you hold them so tight to your chest? What do I have? I have nothing, just this piece of cloth (Loin Cloth). What can I give you? What more can you carry?

Established Gratitude is Inherent Blessing

Oh Man!!! You keep creating your sand castles!!! You keep building highly perishable empires, even using treachery and deceit, and cry when they perish. When will you leave the temporary and hold on to the permanent? Remember, you have to hold on to your mother (The Lord Almighty) like a monkey’s baby clings on to its mother, until He (The Almighty) takes over and holds you like a cat handling its kitten. If the baby monkey loosens its grip, it falls to death. Nobody can help that fall. You yourself are responsible. Remember that clearly. You are building and re building perishable empires life after life. Still you cannot understand its futility!!! Alas, Man, get out of here. I can give you nothing. You can take nothing from me.”

He closed his eyes and whispered “All are running. Running for what? Who is waiting for whom? If at all, what are they waiting for? Just to fulfill some selfish ends!!! Every meeting has a selfish purpose. Nobody meets anybody for the sake of unconditional love. Everything is conditional. Who created all these appointments that you are struggling to cope with? YOU. You made everything and now you are suffering. You cannot cope. HA HA HA. Oh MAN!!! RUN RUN….Run as much as you want. One day you have to fall. Fall from your pretensions. Fall into the real truth. When will you realize this? With or without you, the same stars will decorate the sky and the same Ganga will feed the grass. Do you feel that you are so important? Think again. Life was going on before you were born. Life will go on without any problem, even after you leave the earth. What appointment are you going to keep? What are you clinging on to? Be grateful for the present moment. Be Grateful. That’s all you can do.You can gain nothing from me. You are wasting your time here. Go, go to your entertainments and continue the life of pretensions and make-believe. GO AWAY!!! You are wasting your time here. YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND ME!!!

One man said “Swamiji, let me sit close to you and be benefited from your presence. Let me also gain something. He snapped “You will gain nothing. You come here with a filled up mind. Swollen with ego, calculating your gains. You cannot gain anything from here. I have nothing to give you. You can take nothing. What can you gain permanently when you have to lose everything? All are here to gain something, take something. None can give, until nature forcefully snatches things away. Poor Man!!! How ignorant he is!!! Go, Go to your markets and play your commercial games – the game of gaining and losing. You are wasting your time here. GO”.

Liberation is in Losing

Man is Flesh. From Flesh, more Flesh are produced. Meat based ego. HA HA HA. Man’s ego develops and swells based on this meat. Flesh and Bones. See the flesh and bones of the past terrestrials, all over the earth. Once they were also moving just like you. You will also be that one day. Do not be too proud. Understand your reality. Accept your reality. Be Grateful.

Oh Man!!! Do not be too proud about yourself. When the perfume that you wear fades off, body, mind and intellect are just “dirt” and they stink too. You are just flesh and blood. Temporary formation of flesh and bones – a loan from the earth!!! This structure of yours. Look at the organs of animals that you killed. You have packed them neatly for sale in your super markets. Oh Hygienic flesh eaters, your body contains the same organs too. Minus soul, you and those dead animals are the same. You killed them because you like to eat their carcass. Time likes to eat your carcass too. Time will annihilate you totally and completely. So, while living, live with awareness of these facts. Practice Non-Violence in thought, word and action.

When Will You Know Me? In How Many Life Times?

Life is the difference. For everything that is born, death is an inevitability. One life breeds many lives, just like meat breeds more meat. The first existence was causeless, as a reason, for the demonstration of relativity. The rest are all karmic, until the final unity. Life breeds karma. One karma breeds more karma. The soul suffers births and deaths. Beware Man, you are no better off than those pigs living in filth. Look at your own inner space. What is there? What JUNK have you stored and nurtured there? No. Do not tell me. I do not want to know. Now, you tell me, what am I supposed to do? What will I do with you? Go away. You will gain nothing from me. You will not even understand me.

Look at those covered in saffron and ornaments of power!!! Poor Men. They are hiding inside the saffron. They are hiding their insecurities!!! Poor Men. Leave them alone. They are also like you, calculating gains and losses. Just leave them alone. They are doing all these for the sake of survival. Those priests also are waiting for their preys – insecure victims. Let them also live. Those religious fanatics, going after converting people who are nothing but unsteady minds and meat and bones; are trying to increase the head counts of their community. Ignorant people. Let them also live. Just now you said that there is no jungle anymore. Animals are certainly there. Jungle should be there. The real jungle has shifted to the city now. Your mind itself is an impregnable jungle, Oh Man!!! How many poisonous snakes and dangerous emotions roam there, uncontrolled!!! What can I give you? You created everything. You nurtured everything!!! Thank You. I want nothing from you too.”

Where ever you look, there is only the glory of Brahman (Supreme Soul)

“Foolish man, so concerned about “the right path”, does not even know which is his right path and follows  someone else’s !!! He cannot allow the soul to guide because he is not aware of its existence – even once a day. Then he repeats the same mistakes of life times, again and again. What a pity!!! Man, liberation is in abandonment, not in ownership. Understand this very clearly. What will you gain by seeing me? What you see is just flesh and blood. That’s not me. Then what do you see? Can you see my soul? In order to see my soul, you should see your soul. Thats the right path!”

Anyway, this will not be understood by many. This food will not be enjoyed by many. This is celestial nectar (amrut). Those who could digest this food, will be liberated. This will be heard only by those who are eligible. The rest will continue to intellectually fathom infinity. This is a futile exercise. Eventually, they will drop it and reach the truth. Every path leads to liberation. Time and space are the difference. Good BYE ( God Buy You)

My friends, In 2006, I communicated with an astral master – a true divine being. I was asking mundane questions, which the master replied patiently. After an hour or so, the master decided to depart. The master asked me “What can I do for you? “I said “I would always stay connected with Astral Masters like you.” He said “I will arrange that” and left. That experience was beautiful. He kept his promise. A part of the above text is taken from our communion with the avadhootha whom we met in Haridwar during Maha Kumbha Mela in 2010.
Many masters do not have physical bodies.  There is no language for thoughts. They transfer the right thoughts with power and intensity to receptive minds, time after time. My job as a man of flesh and blood is to convey it sincerely. It is not my job to convert you. I have no agenda. You may have, I believe, at least that of liberation – Jeevan Mukti?. If this suits your agenda, take it. If not, leave it. In any case, I LOVE YOU.

God Bless You
