In Search of The Precious – 4

A Day in the Life of Atmananda

Through the Obscurity of TIME, Eternal messages Shine Forth...

Swami Atmananda Chaitanya was a wandering monk who lived in India a few centuries ago. He never cared about any of his identities and corresponding details such as date of birth, place of birth, name and stature. Many people followed him in his seemingly aimless  journeys – some out of curiosity, some out of faith. He never stayed at one place for more than 3 nights and, irrespective of the climate, he always continued his journeys without fail.

During one of his journeys, he reached a city close to a great river revered by many. He and his entourage stayed near a big Shiva temple. In those days, usually outside the temples, there used to be shelters for wandering monks, provided by the local rulers free of cost. They also provided two meals a day.

Gratitude and Surrender Get Expressed as Temples. Deities Happen...

Many people knew Atmananda because of his constant journeys and presence in many places. So, naturally, many people came to see him to take his blessings. That day, the local magistrate and his wife were visiting the temple for worship. They saw an unusual crowd in front of the temple. The magistrate sent his attendant to check what is going on there. He came back and said “there is a famous saint sitting at the pillar. People have assembled to take his darsan and blessings.” The magistrate and his wife decided to take the blessing of the saint, as it is customary in India to respect saints, even though one may not know their identity or the system they follow. This tradition continues to some extent, even today (This could also be the reason why so many criminals and “un-saintly” people wear the robe of saints and cheat the authorities and people even now. Those who fail in every other areas of life, escape into saffron (the color of the clothes that denote renunciation) too. Many seeming saints are escapists. This is the truth of our society. You may not agree with this point. It does not matter. Kindly read on…) 🙂 .

The magistrate and his wife came to where Atmananda was sitting, and prostrated at his feet. Atmananda blessed the official and said: “You have prostrated at my feet today. Next year this time, you will come to the same temple with a baby boy.” The magistrate and his wife were surprised at how this Swamiji knew that they were childless, even though they have been married for more than 12 years!!! The magistrate was overwhelmed by this spontaneous prediction. He went and explained that day’s event to the Collector of the City, a British man called Stephen Howard. The top position of the city was that of the Collector. Stephen was a good and kind man. Well educated and full of respect for his foster country and its culture. He wanted to meet the saint and took off to do that, without further ado.

Our Past Creates our Present. Memories get erased. We fail to see the eternal lineage and swing between happiness and sorrow...

When Stephen reached the temple premises, the crowd had already increased. Being the ruler of the city, he was given way and thus soon arrived in front of the saint. Atmananda looked at Stephen and said: ” Your color belies your inherent nature. An Indian born in England!!!” Stephen did not understand anything. Atmananda explained about Stephen’s past birth in India and his lineage from his past family(the family he was born to in his last life)  till the current generation who are alive in the family of his last life. And incidentally, Stephen had met these people whom Atmananda was talking about, after he came to India. And surprisingly, he had felt a strange familiarity and affection towards them, as if he knew them from the past. He gave some of them jobs in government departments and thus ensured their proximity to him. Now, everything made sense to him!!! He was indeed an Indian!!! He still has a heart full of love for India. This was his home!!! He was so fascinated with the British and their ways in his past life, that he took birth in England in this life, but, came back to India with the heart of an Indian. He felt at home in India.

Atmananda asked, with a knowing smile:  “Who are you?” (Stephen had not disclosed his identity as yet)

Stephen replied with extreme humility: “My name is Stephen Howard.”

A: “That is your name. My question is who you are.”

S: I am the Collector of the city. Mine is the highest position in the governance of this city.”

A: “That is your job. My question is, who you are!!!”

S: (Confused) “Well, as you know, I am from England and on deputation to this city, by Her Majesty’s orders.”

Atmananda laughed aloud: “You still do not know who you are!!!”

S: (More Confused) “Well, I am a lawyer by profession. I have B.A in Administration as my qualification. I am the second son of my parents who live in England. I have two brothers and a sister.”

Atmananda laughed until tears came from his eyes:” HA HA HA HA……… You still did not tell me who you are!!!”

Stephen surrendered. He bowed down and requested Atmananda to save him from this embarrassment and give him the answer to the question.

Atmananda said: “You are neither your name, nor your position, nor your qualifications. Neither are you the relationships that you mentioned just now. All these add up in defining your existence in this life. You are beyond all these. Most of the things that you mentioned are transitory and temporary. They are all relative terms. You are trying to understand your existence in relative terms. But, your existence is not that. You are beyond your nationality, color, qualification and position. You are an eternal soul!!! That is what you are!!! You are eternally flowing through many bodies that you have assumed over life times. You are what you are, during your waking time, dreaming time and time during your deep sleep. All that you assume is in relation to something. While in the waking state, you are a husband in relation to your wife, a son in relation to your father, a brother in relation to your sister, etc. All these identifications dissolve completely when you enter your deep sleep state. You are everything and you are nothing. Your whole existence is in relation to something. You have come to me for this understanding. I bless you. Go in Peace.”

Stephen was spellbound. He stood there, literally spell-bound. He felt that something exploded in his spine. A kind of awakening that he had been waiting for, since birth!! Deep gratefulness welled inside him. Tears flowed from his eyes.

When Man Walls Himself from Nature, When He Stops Listening to The Heartbeat of Mother Nature, Calamities Take Place...

Atmananda then turned towards a group of farmers who had come to see him, completely ignoring Stephen. Atmananda had no fancy for power or people of power and position. He had nothing to do with terrestrial hierarchies. He addressed the farmers.

“Ignorance is not a virtue. Learn the ways of the earth. Apply that knowledge for the benefit of all. Respect nature and her subtle expressions, but never timidly surrender to it. Never surrender to silly emotions, nor exploitation. Surrender to the will of God expressed through mother nature. Accept the will of God with extreme humility. Share selflessly with others and survive during tough times. Sow when the climate is favorable. Reap when the fruits are ripe and ready. Follow the seasons. Never cut a tree that has not fully completed its life and willingly ready for the axe. Worship trees as they are great saints. Never destroy them insensitively. They are benevolent to the whole world. Leave the forests alone and do not farm in the forests. Forests are for the birds and animals who inhabit them. Stay away from forests and do not disturb the wildlife. Co-exist in peace and harmony with all the birds and animals. Build your house with matured stones. They can weather storms. Live in peace and harmony and never disturb the nature – ever.”

Many people had offered Atamananda fruits and he distributed some of them to the poor farmers. They departed with a deep feeling of fulfillment. Stephen watched this with amazement.

To the Police officer who had accompanied Stephen, Atmananda said: ” Thieves and robbers should be punished, otherwise, society will move in the path of anarchy and lawlessness. No violence should be entertained. No contamination should be allowed or accepted. Destruction of public property should never be allowed. Nobody has the right to destroy anything. If the law is enforced, without violence towards the people, this country will prosper. Any country or ruler that exploits the helplessness of its people will undoubtedly perish. Exploiting helplessness is a serious crime. Society will crumble. Children will rebel. Prevention of crime as well as preservation of law are serious matters, which require a lot of sensitiveness and dare. It takes a heart of compassion to enforce law. It takes humility and conviction. I bless you with that.” The officer bowed down in extreme humility.

Laws Should Breed Peace and Liberation in the Society, Not Slavery and Bondage...Society Living in Fear Will Collapse by Itself...

To a prostitute who was in the crowd, Atmananda said: ” Divine woman, you are serving the society. Because of you, your sisters of this city are enjoying peace and security. Because of women like you, other women can walk freely, without fear even at midnight. You are like a candle. You are burning yourself for the society’s well-being. Because of you, lonely men are satisfied. The society trapped you and pushed you into this. You have been sold by your own kin. You are burning inside and you crave for a normal life of a woman, which you cannot. No woman will want to be in your position of such helplessness. Yet, your heart is pure. You mean no harm to anyone. You have no hatred and feeling of revenge against anyone. Your heart brims with kindness and love. I Bless You.

And, the society is satisfied. Because you remove the frustrations of lonely men, the society is cleaner. I bow to you, Divine Woman.”  Many could not contain their surprise at these words. Stephen, who was listening to this told to himself:  “How true. The age old profession and how much it is contributing to the balance of the society!!! Mental balance of people will certainly reflect in the balance of the society because society consists of people. This saint is calling a prostitute “Divine” !!! It is time I change my perspectives. Everything in the society is Divine!!!”

Everyone Serves the Society in their own way. Some Burn themselves to give Light to others..But, They are never remembered!!!....

A businessman came and prostrated at the feet of Atmananda. While he was getting up, he saw Stephen standing there and naturally gravitated towards him. He tried to bow down to Stephen, who avoided him in embarrassment. Stephen thought: “Even in the presence of the holy man, this fool is commercial-minded. He is trying to make bridges with me, not caring about the saint and His blessings.” Atmananda, as if reading the mind of Stephen, addressed the rich businessman: ” My beloved watchman, I believe you have reached a wrong destination. Are you sure you are at the right place?” Suddenly the rich man pulled his attention from Stephen, looked at the smiling saint and prostrated at his feet again. “Dear Watchman, these feet have no commercial value. I believe you are wasting your time.” The businessman felt embarrassed. He thought that Swamiji has mistaken him for a mere watchman. He told Atmananda: “Swamiji, I am not a watchman. I own the biggest jewelery, restaurant, garment shop ………. and I also feed the poor in the temple.” Atmananda laughed aloud. He laughed and laughed. The businessman became completely white with embarrassment.  All people watched with amusement. Laughter brought tears in the eyes of the saint.

Greed Breeds Corruption. It contaminates the entire society, shakes its integrity and leads it to doom...

Laughter is contagious. It spreads like wild fire. The whole crowd except the businessman started laughing. Even Stephen could not hold his laughter. When the laughter subsided, Atmananda asked the businessman to sit down. “My friend, you have come here because your servants told you that Stephen has come to see me. You have not come out of faith in me. You have come to get closer to Stephen which may increase your business prospects. Then, why are you pretending? You think you can fool me? I can see through you. You are a watchman of your own wealth. You have no freedom. You are over-possessive. You do not give any freedom to your workers either. You are treating everyone as slaves, including your own family members. Even though you have a lot of wealth, you never pay your staff on time. Not only on time, you always deduct from their salaries, blaming them falsely for some mistakes. You do not enjoy your life. You have no peace in heart. You are constantly worried about thieves. Your heart is filled with fear and anxiety. You do not sleep. Money has given you sleeplessness. Even the chicken in your house sleeps better than you, despite the threat that you may kill them any day!!!. You greedy man, your children are also suffering because of you. Your whole family suffers because of you. You think that by paying money to God, by conducting elaborate rituals every year, you can relieve yourself from all the sins that you commit everyday. NEVER. God has nothing to do with your lifestyle. You have alienated yourself from God. You are making your own life miserable and your family is also in chains. They will suffer further. You can get nothing from me. You are a filled-up cup. Empty yourself from your ego and attitude and come to me. I will fill you up with wisdom and understanding. When you empty yourself, your life will begin there and then. You will stop being a watchman of your own wealth and family. Remember, all that you consider as yours will come with you only till your death. You will depart alone. Death will forcefully detach you from everything. The fire will burn your body into ashes. Then, you will be just a handful of ash. A life of greed will ensure an end in grief. Greed, envy, Jealousy, ego and all such terrestrial emotions will lead to sorrows and diseases. Beware.”

After a short pause, while all the others remained speechless, Atmananda continued: “Oh, foolish man. You believe that all are respecting you out of love. Nonsense!! People pretend their respect towards you out of fear, because through money, you have gained connections in high places. NOBODY loves you, including your own family members. They fear you. They pretend love. They are suffering. Even your children will rejoice when you die. They will definitely squander the wealth that you have accumulated through your selfishness, as liberation will create corresponding expressions, which are most likely to be wild expressions of freedom from tyranny!!! Sometimes, people who are chained do not know how to enjoy freedom when they get it. This will be the case with your family members. You will suffer more and more through your family members. Your eldest son is already squandering your hard earned money on prostitutes. Your daughter has many lovers. You will see that happening more and more, unless you shed your ego and attitude, and shift to benevolence and sincere, unconditional love. Move away, I have nothing to give you. Even if I give anything to you, you will not be able to hold it, let alone carry it. What I could possibly give you, is more precious than your whole wealth put together. You will not be able to buy it. This poor woman here is wealthier than you (He pointed towards the young prostitute). She has a rich heart, filled with compassion. She just took home a new born baby girl found abandoned in the waste bin, by her unknown glorious parents. Even though she is poor, she is taking care of this new soul too. Have you ever bought a meal to a poor man? Have you even thought about such an act of kindness? Haven’t you abused beggars and poured hot water on them, and drove them away? Haven’t you let your fearsome dogs on poor garbage pickers? Man, Your money cannot buy what I can offer. Do not waste my time, go away.”

Everyone watched this in pin drop silence. Nobody dared to move. The businessman sat there in awe as if he just saw a fearsome ghost. He was stripped completely in front of the crowd. His ego was annihilated unceremoniously. He fell at the feet of the saint and wept uncontrollably. The saint stood up. It was time for him to take bath and get into worship and meditation. It was already well past the afternoon and close to sunset. It was time to move on. Atmananda distributed all that he received to everyone assembled, and he walked towards the nearby river to take bath. Many followed him to the river. He quietly took bath and went into the temple for worship. A typical day in the life of Atmananda. Live in Peace!!!

Remain Blessed.

Love Always, M

The Path of Pathlessness

The Divine Journey of Life

The Whole Existence is a Prayer for the Entire Universe.

An Existence in Complete Surrender to Supreme Consciousness…

A baby is born. A beautiful Baby. Everyone is happy. Joyous atmosphere in the house. It overflows into the neighborhood. Visitors come to see the newborn. They congratulate its parents, bring them gifts. A new journey of a soul in a new body began there!!!

A small body was carefully created inside the womb of the mother. All organs were assembled properly. Nerves, muscles and veins were attached properly. The Spine was created first and then the other organs. Brain, heart, lungs and intestines were put in their proper place. The parents who took all the credit for the beautiful baby, had nothing to do with any of these. Divinity made everything. Divinity put everything in its place to accomplish a pre-determined journey and make sure it can withstand the wear and tear of the total journey till its karmic end. The product was also packaged well and everyone agreed that it is indeed attractive!!! What a brilliant craftsmanship!!! Everything in proper order!!! This is human life. Extremely perishable, but brilliantly beautiful.

The Beautiful Mind of the Creator and Perfection in Creation…

Each entity has its own beauty. Even a tiny ANT is specific. All are “hand-made”, with extreme care. There are no two products alike!!! Every package comes with a specific duration or, in commercial terms, Shelf-Life. Birth and Death are simultaneously decided. There are no surprises, no accidents. Karma is the contract, the shopping list. Body, mind and intellect must exist together as long as the specified Karma is accomplished. When karma is finished, the body is terminated. There is no tragedy attached to it. There is no belongingness to earth. There is nothing to cry for. There is nothing we can own. We are just like tourists here.

The child’s parents had nothing to do with the child’s karma, or the shopping list. They had no clue. They never decided their child. Assuming ownership, they started taking decisions on the life of the child after it was born. They refused to accept that they have no role to play in the child’s life, except to provide an environment for it to grow and express itself. That is it! Nothing more. They could not control its thought pattern or the usual minor illnesses that it contracted from time to time from the earth. They had no clue about its natural tastes and inclinations. They did not know anything about the child, even what it will become when he/she grows up. They did not even know if their pretty child will behave in the standards of an angel or a devil upon growing up.  They tried their best to cram the child with various kinds of conditionings – social, family, community, religious, etc, etc. Child accepted some, discarded some. Sometimes it rebelled. Sometimes it surrendered. Thus, the child expressed its own conditionings that it brought forward from past lives and fine tuned them with some of the newly acquired ones. Parents foolishly attributed its qualities and characteristics to themselves and their ancestors. 🙂  Nobody knew the real truth, the third dimension of the entity at hand!!!

Every soul that walks the earth must pay a rent. Same way, when we rent any space, we must pay for it. We are renting the space on earth, quite temporarily, to exhaust our karmas. We must pay for the space that we use. This is the debt that we owe to the Mother Earth!!! We walk on the earth as if we own it. We do not. Nobody does. We are only temporary custodians. We will pass on and someone else will walk over the same space on earth. While living, we must pay the debt in order to exit smoothly. If we do not pay our house rent, the landlord will get us arrested. Likewise, until we pay the rent that we owe to the Mother Earth, we will keep coming back. Earth will arrest you and bring you back. Debt usually breeds more debt, sometimes with compound interest. So, each visit will cost us more.

The only way to pay our debts towards the Mother Earth is to serve its children selflessly. Social service or self-less action of any kind, will relieve you from the accumulating dues. We must remember this always. This is why some religions insist on regular, compulsory social service and paying a portion of their subjects’ income for the welfare of the poor. Compassion and sincere expressions of kindness will help clear the dues for sure. Talking and sharing opinions will not help. This is also for sure. Hands that help unconditionally are much holier than the lips that pray.

God needs nothing from you. God is self-sufficient. Do not try to bribe God either. He needs none of your rituals too. You have formed the rituals only for yourself. This was your effort in identifying the God aspect within yourself. All the rituals and spiritual practices including Yoga, Pranayam and meditation are your attempt to reach God. He is not outside of you. God is within you. If your spiritual practices cannot take you inside yourself, discard them. They are only another burden for you. And remember the golden rule of travel – less the baggage, more is the comfort in your journey.

Ripples in the sand are as impermanent as time

 The Precious Time

Destiny is equal to the original shopping list, the agenda for existence. Time is precious. Time is specified. Agenda is specified. Where is the time to rest and procrastinate? Karma is exhausted in three states – the waking, dream and deep sleep state. Where the waking state cannot reach, the dream does. Deep sleep state reminds man of his real home, beyond his currently acquired identities.

Every pain and pleasure is part of the shopping list. The list that we have carefully or absentmindedly prepared during our past lives. God never interfered, just as your soul never interferes in your current life. It just provides the fuel. It is neutral and unconditional. Your soul and God are one. Both are unconditional. Body is like a rented house, rented for a period. Mind and Intellect are its operating tools, such as electricity and water. Time is precious. Postponement is a waste of time. Escapism is also a waste of time. Equanimity in pain and pleasure will ensure a smooth sailing. Acceptance and Adaptability are the key. Non-resistance is the method, because the shopping list is yours. You made it. You own it. You enjoy it. It is your life.

The Food of the Mind

The food of the mind are the sense objects. Mind’s sensors or sensory buds are our actual five senses. Minus the sense objects, the mind dissolves. Without food, the food sheath or the body cannot exist. Without procreation, earthly species cannot exist. Likewise, when the senses are in control, when sense objects do not lure us anymore, the mind dissolves. A mindless state is also a karma-less state. Mind is the operating tool of Karma. Our existence shifts to the dharmic mode, when mind dissolves and karmas vanish. We exist purely for the sake of Dharma. Duty towards existence.

The Secret to Liberation

Liberation is a state. By liberation we mean the end to the birth-death cycle. Liberation is a process. Entanglement is easy. It needs no deliberation. It happens by itself. Staying liberated requires extreme awareness, caution and equanimity over pain and pleasure, which includes physical and mental diseases. Liberation is the path of pathlessness. Anything regular binds us as the mind easily feeds on it. Any ritual is a binding. Any habit is a binding. Any relationship, with the associated expectations, is also a binding. Living it staying detached or unattached is the key. This means perfect witness-hood in all three states – waking, dream and deep sleep state. Detachment is not aversion. It is also not under-performance or escapism. It is a perfect action with 100% application without attachment to the results of the action. The essential agenda points for liberation are as follows:

A. Accept your life as it is, because you created it. Act out your karma, without resistance. What ever you are experiencing now, was your choice, consciously or un-consciously, probably the same way you are handling your life now. 🙂 That means, a life of partial consciousness and partial unconsciousness. Luckily, all our vital functions are handled by our active sub-conscious mind, otherwise, we will forget to breathe or pump our heart; or will create a heart-attack out of stress due to these matters!!!! 🙂

Karma is happening, whether you like it or not. Each situation, event and experience of your life is formed out of it. Every thought, word and action, along with the glue of emotion, created your life, and is continuously creating further lives, right now, while you are at it. You have only your present to handle your karma. You can only do something now – tomorrow never exists in the now, and past is history and non-existent in the present. So, karma will happen whether you like it or not, the way it will happen in your present life, as per your individual experience level. It is up to you to accept it gracefully as a child of your own, or resist it and suffer the pains of resistance. Resistance also leads to further involvement, postponement and maybe an intensified experience too. So, might as well act it out now, in its intended intensity, without resisting. Who knows what is in store for you tomorrow, and who cares?

B. The Immediate Dharma. Along with your karma, which is the purpose of your existence, is the dharma, which are your inherent duties. They are often inter-linked and difficult to segregate. Dharma of a mother is to take care of the children that are born through her. The first is the dharma towards own family members, such as a husband towards his wife and the wife towards her husband. Likewise, father, mother, husband, wife, children, brother, sister, grandparents, so on and so forth. One should handle one’s dharma with utmost care and application. When each operates with kindness and compassion, we see happy families and happy families make happy society. For this, we should completely discard pretension and our expressions should become sincere and honest. When we do something, it should be with 100% application, devotion and sincerity. Dharma liberates man. Performing dharma to the best of one’s capacity certainly liberates the man and makes his life worthwhile. Regrets will vanish and guilt will not bind his feet like chains tied to the earth. Performing dharma in the unit level is essential for liberation.

C. Dharma towards the society. This is the third and final. When we also take care of the social needs within the best of our ability, we become completely liberated. This means, taking care of the poor and the needy, birds and animals, and the old and sick. Protecting the environment around our house, our street, the way we can. We are only temporary custodians of our property. We will leave it all here and go. We will carry nothing abroad, when we die. So, handle them carefully and return it to the landlord in good condition, so that your dues are in control. You will have to pay for all your indiscriminate thoughts, words and action. Remember this well.

When we are comfortable with our own existence and when we operate comfortably in all the three capacities, such as individual karma, individual dharma and the social dharma, without expectations or emotions of ownership, we will stay liberated while living.

Operating Levels

The simplest operating levels are purity and faith. Purity in thoughts, words and actions. This also means self-less-ness in thoughts, words and actions. Faith in oneself and existence, and non-resistance, irrespective of our existing realities. This will make your mind like a shining mirror, without any dust or finger prints. The more shining the mirror is, the better is the image. No image stays in a mirror permenantly. It vanishes when the object departs. Mirror remains objective always. Mirror never follows the object, nor does it capture and store an image, even if the image in front is celestial. It stays neutral all the time. Likewise, if our mind stays completely unattached to any sense object, it stays liberated all the time. Senses will not be bound to any sense object either. They will enjoy and detach, continuously and consistently. Images will come and go, people and situations will come and go. We will be firmly rooted in our own existence and liberation.

All are individuals, sometimes operating on a collective level. This is situational. People come together for a purpose and depart when the project is completed. Emotions based on relationships make it painful to part. They also chain the feet of the being to the realms of earth and similar situations eternally. We keep coming back. Emotions are anti-liberation. We should feel, because we have the faculties to feel. We should act dutifully, but, we should never be “emotional” in a way that leads to procrastination and eventual depression.

Liberation is Bliss. Liberation is Unity, Spontaneity and Unconditionality…

Be aware of a fundamental truth. When a soul assumes a body, it operates within the characteristics of the body that it has assumed. When a soul operates in a lion’s body, it operates or behaves as a lion, fully. Every entity in the whole universe expresses such characteristics. A man is a man. An angel is an angel. None comparable to another. Within the commonness, there is diversity. There is unity as well as diversity. So, when an entity expresses itself in a human body, it expresses the general nature of humans including decay and death. It will express all the strengths and weaknesses of humans. None can be immune to the basic nature attached to a particular specie. When an entity, using the assumed body, evolves beyond the needs of the assumed body, it liberates itself. Still, it is a continuous process of constant vigilant attention, rooting firmly in one’s soul.

The mind-intellect-body will always lure the consciousness. When a man shifts from mind, intellect and body to his consciousness, depending on his levels of consistency, liberation happens. So, each entity has a common behavioral pattern of its own. Its  needs or requirements are also the same. A cow needs grass. It does not need meat. A tiger needs meat to survive. Grass will not suit its need. An angel operates in a plane in which it is supposed to operate. Its powers of operation are purpose-bound. Everyone’s operating levels are purpose bound. So, let us shed the idea that some humans of higher evolution are immune to the nature of humans. There could be a degree of variation. Basic nature of species cannot be changed. If nature need to be changed, the body and species should be changed too. When a tiger takes birth as a man, it will look and feel like a man, even though it may behave like a tiger at times. Yet, all the attached strengths and weaknesses attached to humans will be definitely displayed. Assuming any body will also mean assuming its nature and characteristics. Every body is bound by the usual processes of Mother Nature, such as wear and tear and eventual annihilation.

The Path is So Simple – If You Follow These Footsteps…

A Few Roadsigns on the Path of Pathlessness

  • There are no do’s or don’ts. Just live a selfless life, without resisting, judging or criticizing oneself and others.
  • There are no binding expectations, including expectation for a specific result for one’s word or action.
  • Always operate rooted in the spine. Do not sway with fleeting emotions.
  • Complete Non-Violence – in thought, word, action, food, as well as in all your other expressions.
  • Respect and perform the individual karma as well as dharma (duty) towards own family and dharma towards the society, with perfect equanimity and zero expectation.
  • Purity in thought, word and action. This also means perfect self-less-ness and equanimity in pleasure and pain. Serve selflessly. No discrimination at all, on any basis.
  • Divinity is Simplicity. Lead a simple life full of love and benevolence. Always feed the hungry with what you have. Always protect the helpless, old and abandoned with what you have. See the spark of God in every being.
  • Do not flaunt anything, be it your wealth, possessions, power, money, achievements, relations, relationships, contacts, or even spiritual powers (siddhis). Lead a simple and unassuming life. Remain grounded and simple in outlook and existence. Be benevolent to all and care for all. There is nothing to prove on earth. All that we earn here needs to be spent (left behind) here too.
  • Do not worry about what you do not have. Rejoice at what you have. Never compare yourself with another.
  • Avoid anything that binds you, irrespective of whether the habit is positive or negative. If you cannot live without something, it is definitely a binding for you. This could be even a bed tea or a particular person. It could even be your Guru. It could be an alcohol addiction or even meditation.
  • Live in the present. Act in the present. Keep time. Do not waste even a moment, because, time in existence is specified, measured and un-extendable. Do what ever your current tasks are – right now – never postpone or procrastinate.
  • Understand all individuals as karmic beings. Everyone lives their karma. Each pattern is unique. Respect it.
  • Never censor your thoughts. You are what you are. Accept yourself with all your strengths, weaknesses or “imperfections” that you think you have. In absolute sense, there are no imperfections.
  • Observe. Be a witness to your own thoughts, words and actions at all times. You will stay liberated from all of it. Objective observation is liberating. Involvement is binding. Remember this always.
  • Every being on earth has a definite purpose. No creation is by accident. Respect every being, animate and inanimate. Never disturb or destroy. Live and let live.
  • Emotions, guilt and regrets are ropes that bind us to earth. Have nothing to do with it.
  • Love is the most beautiful of all feelings. Express it unconditionally.
  • Do everything with full application, sincerity and objective commitment. Never do anything absent mindedly or half-heartedly. Avoid all such actions. You will always be true to yourself and life will be regret free, ego free and fulfilling.
  • In our path, Gurus are just roadsigns. Gurus are perfectly unconditional. They never bind a seeker to themselves. They never interfere in your experience or your journey. They never criticize, judge or censor. They are objective and truthful. Gurus never display their powers to attract and control. Gurus never demand anything from any seeker. Gurus lead a liberated existence and they lead the seeker to liberation as well.

Wish You a Liberated Existence.

Even Maha Kali leaves Karma Alone...

True Dilemma of a Goddess

Once upon a time, in the southern Indian state of Kerala, lived an avadhoota. As with all avadhootas, he was also dis interested in his bodily well-being and it gave him the status of a “mad man” in a society which believes in accumulation of wealth, corresponding social status and physical well-being. To mock the superficial society, and to teach them the futility of the repeated terrestrial existence, every day, this avadhoota used to push a big round stone up the hill and with great effort, before sunset, he would bring the stone to the top of the hill. Then, he would push the stone downhill and laugh at it rolling down. This action gave him the title “MAD”. While people were in a hurry to categorize him as a “Mad Man”, they did not understand the method in his “madness”. He was teaching the ignorant society a precious lesson about life. The stone represented human life. People work hard from birth till death to accumulate wealth and “secure” their life; and death takes it all away. At death, everyone leaves empty handed. All that they accumulate from birth till death, including wealth, status, rewards, qualification, emotions and relationships, gets annihilated and left behind. Nobody carries anything when they depart. The stone was a symbolic representation of life itself. The grave effort of building it up is lost in a second, when death happens. Everything gets undone, with physical death. The avadhoota spent his whole life doing the same thing and giving the same message to people. Unfortunately, as always, people only saw the obvious – the action, and not the precious message within.

The avadhoota had no house of his own and he lived in the village burial ground. Dogs and foxes appeared every night to devour unburnt flesh from dead bodies. They never bothered him. Like aghoris, he cooked his meal in the funeral fire or with the fire from the funeral (in India, dead bodies are customarily burnt, not buried). And after eating, he would sleep on the burial ground. He also did not have any work that earned him his daily bread, and yet, by “working hard” everyday by pushing the stone up the neighboring hill and then dropping it, he demonstrated the need to be active, for a larger purpose. He found his food through begging. If nobody gave him anything, without complaints, he would sleep with an empty stomach. Having food or lack of it never bothered him. A true renunciate indeed!!!

Kali Dances with the Souls of the Burial Ground...

The story goes like this. Goddess Kali and her entourage (which consists of fearsome Demons, Ghosts and Vampires) used to visit this burial ground on specific nights, such as Fridays or Tuesdays, to dance in the funeral fire along with the souls of the departed. This dance also signifies victory of death over life, i.e. the temporariness of human existence. So, when Kali and her dancing troop came to the burial ground, they saw a “human” sleeping there. Goddess cannot dance in front of humans. Human beings are of gross and  inferior existence, according to them. And, till then, no human being has survived seeing such fearsome spirits and Kali. People who have seen them have died out of fear. So, they decided to frighten the sleeping avadhoota. They made all sorts of sounds to wake him up. He did not even open his eyes. He was not enjoying the normal sleep, he was in samadhi state. Finally, he opened his eyes and got up. He sat there, watching the efforts of Kali and her team of ghosts, trying to put fear into him and drive him away. He watched their show like a movie and sometimes clapped his hands. Kali and her team got tired of this. Finally, Kali came to him and said. “Oh Man, I am pleased with you. No ordinary human can see us, witness our dance, and still be sane. You are no ordinary human. I am pleased with you. I want to give you a boon.” The avadhoota smiled and said “Thank You for your kindness. You and your team really entertained me. I am really happy. I do not need another boon. I am fine. If you are finished with your dance, please leave the place and let me sleep a bit more, before the day break. I have heavy work to do when the sun rises.” (Pushing the stone uphill and watching it roll down at sunset). But the mighty Kali insisted: “I have decided to give you this boon. You should tell me what you wish for.” After a lot of persuasion, he asked Kali: ” When will I die?” Kali gave him the exact date, place and time of his death. He said: “I want to live one more year.” Kali explained: “When a human takes birth, his longevity of life is pre-determined. He comes with the full karmic agenda. Nobody can tamper with it, including me. So, I cannot give you this boon.” He laughed, then thought for a while and said “OK. Then subtract a year from my life – give me one year less.” Kali said “I cannot tamper with your karmic life. Nobody can. Your destiny is well defined. Everything happens accordingly. The time, space, and the faculties are chosen and the experience is inevitable. You cannot cut it short and leave early. You have to move with time and complete everything that you came here for, before you exit.” The Avadhoota laughed aloud and teased Kali: “This means you do not have much power as you pretend to have. I do not need anything else. You may go.” Kali explained “Even the God Almighty does not interfere with the karmic agenda, created by existence. Existence creates karma, using the faculties. Unit souls that represent existence, aid it. So, units creates karma individually and collectively as they come together. The unit experiences singularly and collectively. Karma gets lead by itself. Bodies and minds happen based on Karma. The underlying factor is karma. Nobody interferes with Karma. It is the Dharma of Gods to allow Karma to happen…. I cannot leave without giving you a boon because I have offered you one. I am Goddess Kali and I have to keep my word.” Again the Avadhoota teased Kali: “Can’t you give me just one day of life more?” She said “NO”. “One day less”. Again she said “NO”. He laughed at her helplessness. The avadhoota humbled the Goddess. Finally, out of sympathy and not out of requirement, he pointed to his swollen left leg. He was suffering from a disease called “Elephantiasis”. His left leg was swollen and heavy. He told Kali “Did you see my left leg, swollen and heavy?” She said “Yes”. “OK, Shift it to my right leg and relieve my left leg. It has taken pain for long. Now, let the other share it.” Kali shifted his disease to his right leg, blessed him and disappeared with her entourage.

Remember, he did not ask Kali to remove his disease. He was not resisting anything that life gave him. He was just ridiculing the pomposity and resistance attached to our everyday existence. We become proud and egoistic with the feeling that we are doing everything and it is us, who move the world. The world is moving. Our powers are quite limited. Moreover, the avadhoota himself had the power to change anything, including his disease, if he wanted to. But, a real Siddha will never use any of His siddhis for self satisfaction or selfish needs. He uses it only for dire necessities and sometimes as an eye opener, to install or re-install faith in people. The detached life of an avadhoota is a true message to man-kind that is running after fleeting glories and paltry pleasures.

Burial Ground is a great place of complete justice. The rich and poor, the prince and pauper, all are alike in the burial ground. The eventual residue of the very rich and very poor is the same – a handful of ash!!! We apply ash on our forehead, as a reminder to others that eventually, we will become nothing but ASH.  This is meant to annihilate our ego, by reminding us of the eternal truth of perishability and unity.

Fire does not discriminate. It burns everything alike and still does not get contaminated. It stays clean. Water purifies, but gets contaminated. Air purifies and takes on the negativity. Earth also purifies, but gets contaminated. Fire purifies, burns everything into ashes, but, stays pure always.

Greed is Blinding

Who Will Share My Karma???

Karan was born poor. His parents were poor. They lived in a small town in the suburbs of the city. They could not provide him good education or even food and clothes. As soon as he completed his 12th class, his paternal uncle took him to the city. He stayed with his benevolent uncle, found a job and started earning even while he was a teenager. He was good at work and was quite loyal. He even skipped his lunch and worked to complete his tasks. His employer liked him, a silent performer, and thus he grew in his career, quite rapidly. A few years later, when he became well established in his work and was earning a good salary, his parents found him a native girl, and got him married. He was very happy with his marriage. His wife was a quiet and loving woman, who took care of his household chores without any complaints. They were a good match. Everyone loved them.

Years went by and they were blessed with three children, two boys and a girl. Meanwhile, he got an opportunity to go abroad and get into a job, which paid him many times more salary than his current job. He and his family settled down and again, he grew in his career, as well financially, rapidly. He became very rich. Meanwhile his father expired. He looked after his mother well. He invested in land, buildings and owned many establishments along with his best friends as partners and became one of the richest men in his home town. A smooth life of glory. He was happy and people were happy with him.

When he was 55 years old, he decided to return back and enjoy the fruits of his toil. He came back and started living in his home town. He had left his home town many years ago and he felt a bit alienated. But, money attracted people to him. He made many friends. Slowly, sycophants started spoiling his mind. He started getting into arguments with his partners and slowly took over most of the companies to himself. He used various methods to achieve this end. He became a completely different man.

The peer pressures of his home town made him a ruthless businessman. He took over all the distributed shares, by force, through threats or, in some occasions,  by paying off. Thus, he strengthened his position in the town. He stood for the local elections and also gained political clout. He became invincible. Along with politics, he entered into many corruption practices, bribery and “handling” of people who opposed them. Thus, a once clean employee became a totally corrupt  and dictatorial employer. People feared him, more than respected him. It was a path of “no return”. He kept walking unconsciously and in a way, helplessly.

One day, while he was leaving his office, late at night, he was beaten up by some people. He did have his driver and body guards. It was like an ambush, just outside his office, which was totally unexpected. They stabbed him in his stomach, broke his collar bone and ran away. He was immediately hospitalized. He had lost a lot of blood and was in intensive care for almost a week. Slowly he recovered and his state frightened and shocked his family and friends. One thing was clear – some people were affected by him so much that they want him dead. There was a big threat to his life.

When he was out of the hospital, when he could travel on his own, his brother-in-law took him to an old saint. His aim was to calm his agitated and shaken up mind. The saint looked at him and said: “You came empty handed. You will leave empty handed. What have you conquered?” Karan said: “I was a poor man. I became rich with my own hard work. Everything is hard-earned. I had to secure what I earned for my family and children.” The saint smiled. “Did the place, time and environment happen to you, or you created it?” Karan said “It happened to me. I used it.” Saint replied: “Good. Good understanding. What about your corresponding actions, which harmed many?” Karan said“I had to do whatever I did. The message had to be delivered loud and clear.” Saint: “What about the affected?” Karan was silent. There was no answer. The saint said: “They also decided to give their message loud and clear. That is what you are suffering from now.” The saint then said: “One more question. You are responsible for all your actions, even if the guidance was from others. Right?” Karan said “Yes”. Saint: “Just tell me, who will share your fruits of action, you may call it SINS?” Karan was shaken again. “Do you think your wife or children will share any of your sins? If you are doing everything for them, they should also share your sins, right? Will they?” Karan started crying. The saint consoled him: “Remember my son, Mind means dissatisfaction. Wisdom gives satisfaction. Depend on your wisdom. Mind means Greed. It always remains dissatisfied. It wants more. It wants more money, more power, more positions, status, food, wine, women, control….so on and so forth. If you get carried away, you will hurt others and you will harm yourself. Nobody can suffer your fruits of action on your behalf, except in a larger collective way. So, please share with others and sharing will bring you happiness. Hoarding will give you more anxiety. Go home in deep peace.” The Saint blessed him.

He came home and contemplated on the words of the Saint. He realized that nobody can share his burden and nobody will. He has to run his own life. He was born alone and will die alone. All that he accumulated cannot be taken with him. He cried for a long time. He distributed a lot of his wealth to poor people of his town. He started free schools for the education of poor children. Irrespective of caste and creed, he provided meals to anyone who came to his estate, any time of the day. He relieved himself from politics, distributed his business to his children, and plunged himself into charity.

Life gives rude shocks to make us understand certain inevitable truths. Those who understand will evolve. Those who resist, will perish further. This is the nature of life.

Believe it or Not...We Write Our Own Destiny!!!...

In Search of Life…

Through Time, We Have Conveniently betrayed those whom we dearly loved....

Man’s Eternal Betrayals

ONE

Centuries ago, Peter was having his supper with Jesus. Peter told Jesus, “Jesus, I love you more than words can say. I Love You and without you, I cannot exist. I cannot even imagine a life away from you. I will give anything for this proximity. Nothing else matters to me, except your companionship.” Jesus looked into Peter’s eyes, smiled and said: ” Not so fast, Peter. Before the cock crows tomorrow morning, you would have disowned me thrice (Three Times).” Peter went into contemplation mode at these words of Jesus and, even though he lost his appetite, they continued their supper. Shortly afterwards, Jesus was arrested and, caring for their own dear lives, His disciples disappeared and dissolved into the crowd of sundry faces, beyond recognition. All were confused. What next? Will we be caught too? Will we be persecuted? Where to go? What to do? Is there a life ahead at all?

The wandering Peter also suffered seeming recognition from others, three times. “Is this the man whom we saw with Jesus?” Spontaneous response came from Peter, three times “Are you mad??? What are you talking about? I do not know any Jesus!!! There you go. All the steely resolutions that filled his heart a few hours ago, had completely disappeared.

Jesus has been arrested. They will kill him. Such a pure man!! How can one man singularly defend him? Now, the main job is to save oneself from persecution. Save YOURSELF… instead of save your SELF. When mind was the driving force and fear was the driver of the mind, preserving the body through which mind needs to operate was more important than living the truth that he proclaimed a short while ago. This is human nature. The confused Peter asked himself:  “Judas betrayed Jesus for some transitory money which he could not eventually use. What did I do? If I truly loved Him, I should have accompanied Jesus to the CROSS!!! Why did mortal fears stop me? Was my love so shallow? Then, what is the meaning of what I told Jesus during the last supper? Was that sheer pretension? No. I loved Jesus. But fear of torture, humiliation and death obscured my love.” Peter cried…

How many times have we betrayed our dear ones? We cannot even count!!! This is the truth. This is the eternal truth of human existence.

Our love is limited and conditional. It is walled by expectations. We cannot accept anybody as they are. We can accept a person only as we want them to be. If they behave differently, we disown them. Natural expressions have no value. Pretentious expressions are often glorified. Thus, men resort to pretensions all their lives, to preserve their short lived glory. When the last time Peter disowned Jesus, he saw Jesus completely chained and dragged through the streets ahead of him. Pity welled in his eyes. Sorrows drowned his heart. What did Jesus do, to suffer this? He only lived a life of conviction and selflessness. He played with danger at will. When such emotions were overflowing through his eyes, Jesus looked at him knowingly and smiled. Jesus knew everything, but was never affected. His own safety had no value for Jesus. What is the big deal in preserving a perishable body? If days are wasted in procrastination, what is old age for? Instead, if every moment is lived purposefully and selflessly, even a shorter life is worth it. Jesus knew exactly what He was doing and He was obviously never affected. He also knew His gross and insensitive “handlers”. They had no idea what they are doing too. They thought that physical annihilation amounted to silencing the thoughts. They were wrong. Thoughts were already sown. They must sprout in the right climate. The thoughts of benevolence have always been occurring in the higher realms and only their physical manifestation appeared briefly in the terrestrial realm. His aim was equal to that of a neat road sign. Jesus had already done that. Now, the nature of exit is immaterial. He just detached Himself from His perishable body and allowed the body to be handled by gross, ignorant mass. Jesus exited as peacefully as He entered. Death is not the End. Death does not Exist, just as Birth.

TWO

Three centuries ago, existed a wandering monk. Baba Atmananda or Rastha Baba (Road Baba). He was always moving and “on the road”. Many people thought that Baba is a mad man. Because, he never cared about food or clothing. He was always wandering. He contradicted himself many times and confused people. He sometimes swept the roads in the mornings. If somebody gave him money, he bought food and distributed all to poor people, hungry children, old people and stray animals. He used to get so excited in doing this, that he would forget to consume any food for weeks. He never stayed in one locality for more than 3 days.

Many people found him to be a Siddha and wandered with him. He never took anybody with him in the form of his disciples. But, all those who dared to live with him, were taken care of by Baba. He never chose any disciples though. One day, Baba suddenly told his companions: “There will be heavy clouds and rains. There can be no shelter from elements. We will be scattered”. His companions became scared and confused. If rain and flood happens, where will they stay? Some slowly detached from Baba and left for safer zones. Some tried to make a shelter or arrange one in the neighborhood. But, the problem was, Baba never stayed at one place for long. So, all the plans that they made were of no use.  Some chose to be with him against all the odds, as they were confident that Baba will protect them.

This time in the story, they were staying in a temple town in South India and they were all sleeping in the temple complex, on the floor, on a simple cloth. They stayed there for three nights, and on the third night, there was a theft in the temple. The police caught the thief. They brought him to the temple to take evidences and while taking him back, they were keenly observing the bystanders to see if any of them were showing any familiarity, spontaneously, towards the thief. Or, if the thief was looking at anyone in particular. This could be a sign that he could be an associate of the thief. They were disappointed. None showed any recognition. When the thief came near Baba Atmananda, he looked at Baba. Baba lifted his hand, smiled and blessed him. Police caught Baba and took him to the police station. His disciples ran away. They did the same thing that Peter did to Jesus. They completely disowned their Guru. All of them ran away, to other cities even, to escape persecution. Atmananda stayed in prison for three nights and it never affected him. Finally, the police understood his innocence and released him. He blessed the policemen and the police station and started walking, as always. For many weeks, Baba wandered alone. It did not make any difference to him. Some disciples understood Baba’s prediction of Clouds and Rains. Some came back. Some went away for ever.

Human relationships are so conditional. There is no permanence. Today, we may feel inseparability and deep love and tomorrow utter hatred. Relationships are so fragile and they are built on expectations. When our expectations crash, so do our relationships. Life after life, we have been living this terrestrial truth of impermanence. When can we truly understand our existentialistic impermanence and  embrace the truth and permanence?

Many liberated Masters have created situations that tilted their disciples from their comfort zones. They often behaved in strange ways. Disciples who have expectations and set notions about their Guru become disillusioned and quit. This was the aim of the Guru too. Shaking the tree. Dry leaves should fall. Only those with firm faith need to survive. Faith is the key. Faith takes them to the highest, with the guidance of the Guru.

THREE

Nirupama was in her late 30’s. Unmarried and looking. Domestic difficulties did not permit her to marry and settle down. Yet, she was hopeful and continued her search for a groom. She was working for this British couple for more than six years and they quite liked Nirupama. She was honest and trustworthy.

One day, from nowhere, a gardener called Raja appeared in her neighborhood. He was in his late 20s. Handsome and strong. Nirupama watched him keenly for a few days and decided that she liked him a lot. She made friends with him. She found him to be a bit shy and reluctant in the beginning, but, later on, they fell “deeply” in love. What has age got to do with love?!!!

Their relationship matured rapidly and they spent all their free time together. For Nirupama, it was like a fresh rain on her parched life. A big relief. Raja was reasonably educated and intelligent. Nirupama was happy about it. She dreamed of having a house and children of her own with Raja. Raja also encouraged her dreams. Thus, months went by. Her dreams grew into determination. Raja supported it. They even behaved like a husband and wife. Raja put in her mind the need for capital to start a family. All these years, she has been spending for her own family, educating her brothers and sisters and treating her ailing parents. She had no savings of her own. Raja made her understand the importance of savings of their own and even showed her how much he has saved ever since he met her, for their dreams’ sake. She was convinced and she also started to save money. She even started to collect materials for their eventual house.

A year or so passed and they decided to eventually tie the knot. Nirupama realized that she did not know any family members of Raja, nor was she clear of where he belonged to. He just told her that he is an orphan, hailing from the neighboring state. Love is blind. She did not care about such details anyway. Her love was powerful enough to eradicate any worries about his nativity. They decided to get married on a particular day. The week before that day, they sat and charted out their future plans. The first thing was to go to his state, get married at a magistrate office, take a rented house and start the family. They would both leave their current jobs. He would find a job in their neighborhood and she would assist him, as best as she could. Their priority was children and everything else was secondary. Nirupama was excited. She announced her plan to her employers and they supported her wholeheartedly. They gave her some money and new clothes. Raja persuaded her to get more money. She was not happy to ask for more. He convinced her that the amount they both had in hand was insufficient even to rent a house. For the first time in her life, she stole money. Nirupama’s employers trusted her so much that they always left their rooms unlocked. Even though guilt haunted her, looking forward for a great life, she ran away to the state of Raja. She also realized that Raja also had stolen some money from his employer, “for their sake”. So, they shared their guilt. They traveled in a local bus. Raja hugged Nirupama and made her feel comfortable and loved.

Next day morning, their bus arrived at the bus station in Raja’s home town. Raja said: “There is still time for the government offices to open. We could use the public facilities to freshen up. You could go to the bath and toilet, freshen up and comeback. I will wait till you come back and then I will do the same. Then we will have breakfast and go to the office of the marriage registrar.” Nirupama was excited about the day and taking her clothes for changing after bath, she left her bags with Raja and went to the toilet. When she came back, she could not find her bags or Raja. She searched the entire place. He was nowhere to be seen. Thinking that he might have gone to toilet, she remained at the same place she left him till noon time. He never came back. Slowly she realized that she has been BETRAYED!!!

Raja left with their bags and money. He went to a friend who is a money lender. He had told Raja that if he brings some money to him, in a month’s time, he can double that amount and return to him. Raja handed over the entire cash to his friend. Friend treated him with a lunch and accepted the money. He asked Raja to come back exactly on the same day, the next month.

When Raja went back to his friend exactly on the same day, the next month, his friend pretended that he does not remember any transactions between him and Raja. He asked for proof in writing, receipt of some kind. Raja had none. Raja lost his money. He knew that his friend has CHEATED him.

His friend used the money to buy a new car. He went to the second hand car dealer and bought a fancy car for an “unbelievable bargain”. He was given a week to decide and since he knew the dealer, he took the car for test drive. His friend allowed to keep the car for a week. The next day, police arrested him and the car because the car was stolen. He had to spend a lot of money to get out of the situation and police case. The car dealer had CHEATED him.

Thus, the saga of cheating continues in the terrestrial life. Who gets the last laugh? The History. History laughs at the human folly. Terrestrial urges make people ruthless and they carry the guilt and burden. Nirupama cheated her employers. Raja cheated Nirupama. Money lender cheated Raja. The car dealer cheated the money lender. Everything comes around, sooner or later. In the search for life, we accumulate. We become over burdened by our own actions and their heaviness. We blame others for our suffering. We never realize that each thought, word and action of ours creates our own destiny. This is the truth. If we realize this, we will be unconditional. We will certainly watch our own thoughts, words and actions. We will never hurt anyone. We will always express love without expectations. Life is so short. Life is all about LOVE. Life becomes heavy with Greed. Life becomes light with spontaneous expressions of KINDNESS and LOVE. Life becomes unbearable with Anxieties and Hatred. Life becomes meaningful with Unconditional LOVE. In search of life, or its meaning, if we live indiscriminately, nobody else will be able to help us. We will suffer, over lifetimes. No action, word or thought will go wasted. Everything is bound to build a chapter in our existence, irrespective of whether the chapter is long or short.

This time I chose to talk about the shallowness of relationships because, this is the truth on earth. Nobody loves anybody unconditionally. Every relationship is conditional. Every attachment has a purpose. Love and kindness depend on conditions. This is the sorry state of our seemingly grand relationships. Small  and ignorable errors are separating people. People hesitate to even smile, let alone hug and kiss. We have lost spontaneity. It is time to think deeply about ourselves, our thoughts, words and action. Are they conditional or not? I bet, all of us will find tons of conditions attached to each relationship. The ropes of conditions are strangling ourselves. We are living in an idealistic world. We pretend and live our pretensions, eventually becoming oblivious about our reality and truths. It is time. Wake UP. It is time. It is TIME…

One Day of Honesty is Worth much more than a lifetime of Dishonesty...

LOVE YOU ALWAYS

The Slumber of a Volcano

After Years of Unity, Duality happened, just to understand Unity

After an eternity of contemplation, Shiva started beating the drum. The drum beat gradually intensified and dissolved into a deep humming sound from within. Deep and long  AUM…….AUM…….AUM…..AUM… The ecstatic murmur from deep within drowned all the external sounds. The intensity of the internal murmur sucked in – all the senses, mind, intellect and ego. It was like a huge whirlpool. A whirlpool of molten lava. Everything fell into it and got dissolved in the powerful heat. The intensity and pressure was increasing. It can erupt any time.  Shiva’s drum beat intensified. He DANCED without moving. The inner dance!!! The dance of beingness!!! Each foot step shook the matter around and it exploded into pieces. The heat melted everything. The vapor pushed against the walls of creativity. All inside became RED with heat and pressure. Shiva beat his drum harder.Every cell of the universe was shaking.  The heat and pressure increased further. Shiva beat his drum harder…. the pressure increased further. Harder…..More pressure…..Then, IT EXPLODED!

When all identities melted completely, Flames and Ash erupted through the Volcanic head...

The molten energy penetrated the earth, water and fire and erupted deep into the skies...

The ash was thrown high into the air and the molten lava of samskaaras got spewn all around. Everything was in a completely dissolved state. It had lost all its identities. It could never come back and be reborn. While the lava flowed through the open head of the volcano, continuously, the soul merged back into the womb of Shiva. Complete dissolution. Nothingness. Exhaustion. “I” do not exist. This was the call from home. It was returning back home, empty handed, without any belongings, just as I had started the journey, once upon a time. The first birth and the eventual dissolution!!!

Shiva is Everything...Everything is Shiva..It is formless.

“Once upon a time”!!! I looked back. My past. I was in the womb of Shiva. It was peace and tranquility for a long, long time. It was eternity. Shiva’s womb is infinity.  Then, at some point, I started experiencing the same pressure from within. It was time to be born. While inside the womb, there was no time or space to measure the existence. Everything was inside the womb of Shiva. All of Me, which later became all of us. Everyone was inside the womb of Shiva. Shiva Himself was nothing but the womb. That time, again, I heard the familiar sound. The deep intensifying hum, AUM….AUM….AUM…. which obscured all the other sounds and the unmistakable rhythm of Shiva’s heart beat. The heart beat started intensifying and the humming began to be deafening. All sounds merged into the deep AUM. The whole womb was shaking. I experienced motion for the first time. Then the explosion happened. Brightness!!! I saw myself, everywhere. I was born!!! That was the first time that I noticed what we call space. There was space. And it required time to move through space. Time was born!!! I started exploring. There was relativity, for the first time!!! Relativity and creativity, walked together. Shiva seemed to be happy. He encouraged creation… He aided it whole heartedly. All his children who were spread far and wide swung into action. All imitated Shiva, the father. All became father of their own creation… Life is wonderful. Something is created every moment!!! Shiva just observed and smiled. He is such a kind father!!! Little did we realize that He was the creator, not us. Never it occurred to us, ever.!!!

The familiar feel of Home. The feel of Belongingness. The Oneness....LOVE...

First, I was curious. I liked to touch, feel, kiss, smell, lick, bite, taste, and listen. Everything was myself. All I could see was mirror images of myself everywhere. They were the mirror image of Shiva, our Father too. Perfect resemblance. All are one. Same entities. Staying apart  from myself, using relativity, I could do everything. I could express my creativity and expressions well. How could I do all that to myself, if I was the only one? So, the detachment from others helped my curiosity and explorations. The space allowed more options. Various highs and lows. Various shapes and colors. Various textures of existence. I loved it all. I was so preoccupied with my wanderings, that I forgot my home. And it was alright, as everything was mine and I was everything. Why do I need a specific home? I was at home everywhere. There was no space which is not my home.

Ida and Pingala, the cold and heat currents of the mighty Oceans, kept the Sushumna of life in perfect balance.

We started addressing each other with different names, which reinforced duality and alienation. The truth of our oneness was getting erased from our mind. Then, I found that some parts of myself, that resembled myself even though were called other beings to exercise the relativity, have started collecting the scattered parts that they found interesting. I did not understand why they have to do that, when everything is ourselves  and everything is ours – isn’t it all there for us? Nobody can take anything away. Where will they take it away? From whom will they take it away, because all are one!!! Why do I have to save it only for myself?

When I found that all that I liked, others liked too, I also selfishly started to collect what ever I liked and I called them mine. To my utter shock, I saw that some parts of myself started stealing from me and others’ collections. I hated it. I cried. Why do you have to do that. It is all yours. It is all ours. Take it if you like. Still, possession lead to possessiveness. The fun vanished from the game. It became competition. Fights…WAR. Differences in opinions and forceful evacuations. The space that belonged to all was torn into pieces. I saw that my own parts started destroying my own parts. I cried. I saw many severed heads. I saw many shattered shells – bodies. Many massacres, in the name of possessions and even just to show strength over the other. It was not worth it. From absolute bliss of being Shiva to absolute ignorance and waste of being Shava (dead body). I wanted nothing to do with it. Let those who want to fight and conquer, do it. I decided to pack my bag and return to the womb of Shiva. There was no bag to pack. There was nothing worth carrying. I will miss nothing, I was sure.

The Genderless Unity. The womb of the Father..

I sat in a grave yard. Nobody else came with me there. Except the burning gross bodies and disembodied helpless souls that waged wars and craved for possessions, there was no one to give me company. There I saw the dance of death. This had a difference. This was the dance of vengeance, destruction. My father’s dance was the dance of ecstasy and bliss, dissolution and complete oneness. Shiva danced for unification. I craved for that dance.

Through Deep Penance conquering our needs and fears...We cross the deep darkness of ignorance and duality. We return to ASH. When all identifications dissolve, there is nothing apart from you...

I dived into myself, looking for my father. I waded intuitively through the thick darkness until I reached the mouth of the volcano. Should I jump in or return back? Suddenly, I realized the existence of free will. A further jump will mean complete annihilation of all my identities. A complete annihilation of my existence in relativity. The complete nullification. I turned back and looked. Blinding darkness. Nothing else. I looked ahead. The fiery volcano. I called aloud: “Father…. Have you forsaken me?” Without waiting for an answer, I dived into the pool of molten lava. I did not feel any heat or pain. I saw myself dissolving. Then, I heard the most familiar sound of the drums of my father. It soothed and comforted me. I am reaching my abode. My home!!! It intensified. It further intensified. Then the eruption!!! Blinding Brightness!!! I was HOME.

WELCOME HOME….YOU ARE LOVED HERE….WITHOUT EXPECTATIONS…WITHOUT DISCRIMINATIONS…

The dance of the Father!!!The dance of Beingness!!! Perfection!!!

My beloveds, in the beginning, everything began with an internal explosion. The result was duality. In the very end of our individual life cycle, it begins with an internal explosion. The result is unity. Births and deaths exist between these. The final is unity or perfect awareness and being in completeness. Here, we are talking about the beginning of duality or relativity, regular births, deaths, consciousness shifts and final merger. So, it is both individualistic and cosmic. There are similarities. Distinct similarities. Just like a drop of water contains all the qualities of the ocean, our soul contains all the qualities of Shiva, Parabrahma, Father or Allah, what ever you want to call the eternal God. Hope you are able to see yourself and your true nature through the above text. Contemplate… Meditate. Love and only Love. M

LOVE YOU

And We Merge with the Eternal LIGHT & LOVE forever...

The Original Man

The Original Man

The Original Man

Time evolved man. Man evolved time. Man’s very existence became related to time. He forgot his true state of timelessness. He forgot his true nature. Man became another species on earth, detached from the “Father”. A vulnerable species. His basic existence revolved around his emotions, feelings, impressions and ego. He reduced his divine stature, to the stature of his own mind. He looked at the world through his own eyes, as he steadily lost his capacity to look at the world through his soul. Then began the long and winding journey of explorations of himself and the deep quest to find himself. Man’s search for himself continued through time and existence in various times. To find himself, man wandered through lands and oceans. Time after time, drop by drop, his consciousness evolved. Thus, we reached the study of evolution of consciousness of man. This is the story of the Original Man.

The Avatars of Lord Vishnu

The evolution Theory

Dr.Charles Darwin said that man evolved into his current state from the Ape. Let it be so. No arguments. Darwin contributed a lot in molding the mind of the 20th century man. He, along with Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud, sowed great imaginations into the minds of 20th century men and influenced the thought process of the entire generation, thus changing the course of history and thought pattern of the modern man. Respecting the contributions of Charles Darwin, especially in making people think differently, let us look at the evolution theory objectively.

Darwin's theory indirectly endorses 'Dasavathara', the sequence of the avatars of Lord Vishnu.

If liberation, as we spiritual seekers feel, is the reason for existence, why did we reincarnate again and again? Why this tedious process of trial and error? Well, one cannot reach the highest class without going through the lower classes. That’s the answer. In that case, we have to agree that God has been experimenting with beings with lower consciousness, allowing them time and space to reach His consciousness by themselves. If this is true, then, the old Vedic principle of “Nethi” “Nethi”, or “Not That” “Not That”, becomes more relevant. The Guru never taught the truth to the disciple; instead, he just gave hints. The student meditated on those hints and came back to the master asking if his finding is the final knowledge. The master would just say “Not That”. The student went back and contemplated further. Thus, with the aid of nature and sheer contemplation into himself and his own existence, he would eventually reach his own soul. When the student culminates his search on his own soul and from there to God-consciousness, he would  never go back to his Master. Till then, he kept going back asking the same question and receiving the same answer – “Not That”. So, if we follow the theory of evolution of man from uni-cellular being to the super conscious being, our consciousness has taken ages to reach here. This is quite a possibility. Right?

The Devolution Theory

The Fall in Consciousness is the Real Fall

If we contemplate on the fall of man – God created man in his own image. This means, with all the power and potential of God Himself. Let’s call him Adam. We must consider a few things here. God is formless. God is omnipresent. God is not prone to emotions. God has unlimited intelligence. God exists in super conscious state. God can multiply Himself at will. God expresses Himself through all materials. God creates, maintains and dissolves all materials from Himself into Himself. So, Adam should have all those powers. But the difference here is, Adam is made up of elements while God is consciousness. Adam is matter, even if the identification is temporary. God is pure energy. That difference became too expensive for Adam. God operates through His consciousness and Adam operates through his mind and intellect. Heavy limitation. But, when God created Adam, He also gave him the potential to realize his true stature by installing the three (subtle energy meridians branching out throughout the etheric body) and a three-and-a-half-coiled Serpent (Kundalini) near the root chakra (energy centre at the bottom of the spine). The serpent always sleeps and that allows Adam to believe that he is the limited body. When the serpent is awakened, and especially when it moves, he experiences strange sensations happening to him. He often becomes helpless, emotional, vulnerable, erratic… So, in order to feel control over himself and the space outside of him, he had unconsciously allowed the serpent to sleep. Therefore, the theory of devolution amounts to the fall of Adam from his original stature of “God Man” ( Man who had the potential and power of his Creator)  to that of ordinary Man, who is close to animals in stature.

The Fall

The Fall in Consciousness

The male Adam wanted a female body as his companion because he saw animals procreating and his identifications naturally drifted to that of animals. He was indeed more  superior than animals, but, he had nothing to compare himself with. At least not anything higher than himself. So, he asked for Eve. He had the power to create Eve at will. Some species still possess that power. When all the beings of that species becomes one gender, some of them convert themselves into the other gender to help continue the species. This is usual with certain amphibians – frogs, etc. Since Adam was superior to amphibians and since he had the power of God, he created Eve. Actually Adam did not realize that He had the power to create as many as himself at Will, because that’s the way God creates. With creation, his Kundalini also got awakened. When Kundalini started moving through his chakras, strange emotions started to surge and spurt out. Sexual Desire was the most powerful of them all. Thus, as Kundalini moved through the earth (Root Chakra) and pierced the Water element (Swadhishtana Chakra), he could not control his sexual urge anymore. The call of the elements and the surging Kundalini, the serpent, tilted Adam. He ate the forbidden fruit. He procreated with Eve. He started feeling “naked”. He fell in consciousness, from the supreme consciousness of God and creation at will, to a lower consciousness of  having to procreate to keep the species going. The fall was from unlimited super consciousness to limited consciousness associated with his body, mind and intellect. Thus he reduced himself to the nature of elements, or, in other words, the nature of animals, and inherited all the associated woes. The fall of consciousness happened there. Body, which is made out of elements, had to be re-created through procreation, not will. Man lost the power to conglomerate raw energy into matter and thus create another man. Consciousness fell to the level of animals. Then, through Generations, with the help of many masters and evolved souls, man started climbing up, step by step, to the highest of consciousness. It was a difficult process. It was an uphill task, especially as he had to fight his basic, inherited primal nature and grow in consciousness, while the primal nature always lurked behind. Nature and environment intensified the fall. He slipped again and again. Ignorance shrouded the truth. He lost his direction. He forgot his way back home. He lost his destination. God patiently waited. He allowed the time for his son to find his way home because God has always been existing in timelessness. Man played with Maya (worldly illusion). Maya played with Man.

The Territorial Man

Man became territorial - like animals

As the consciousness fell, man became territorial, like animals. He started guarding his territory, property and people. He became possessive and vengeful. He guarded his territory and, whenever he could, he tried to expand his territory. “Dissatisfaction” got written in bold letters on his forehead. Man could never satisfy himself. He came back again and again, to further satisfy his ever-growing desires. Ignorance helped here. He always lost his memories of his bizarre quests and thus repeated them, basking in his ignorance. He asked many questions, to himself and to others, which were just expressions of his confusion, but never lived the true answers. He kept avoiding truth for the available tangible delusion or Maya.

The Greedy Man

Man's Greed Devastated the Mother Earth

Man fell to greed and extreme possessiveness, associated with ignorance of his true nature. Along with defined territory, power happened. Power bred greed for more. Possessions were displayed in tangible formats, such as Gold, Precious stones, captive women for pleasure or many wives, many captivated animals, many soldiers, etc. Man collected trophees to prove his one-up-man-ship to others about his own status. The vacuum created by loss of stature was filled with greed for social status. He groomed himself to do anything to make money, attain power, and enhance his social status. His society also blindly supported material success, ignoring the crimes behind the unlimited money.

The Saintly Man

True Saints Loved Without Expectations

There have been detached beings in every society, who could have anything, but needed nothing. When money, power, wealth and women lured the average man, these people stayed afloat in the social existence, unaffected, like a lotus flower above the water. Even when they were standing in knee-deep mud of existence, they expressed beauty and shine of divine on the surface. Early kings were advised by such saints. They advised the kings to rule the country based on Dharma or basic noble duty. Their advice kept the kings grounded, pious and their subjects at peace and harmony. They sowed unconditional love on the paths of existence of the kings as well as their subjects. They said, “where ever all people are not protected without discrimination, where ever mothers cannot feel safe,  where ever children cannot play without fear, where ever power is not used to help and save the poor and hungry, where ever animals are not protected, where ever trees and plants are not respected, where ever life is not respected and nurtured, disease and decay will happen. Downfall and destruction will take place.”

The Business Man

Business Empires Decided the Destiny of People of the World

Man learned to wield power effectively. Power and Control. Power was the key. Control was the method. Fear was the tool. As the time evolved, the duel between the positive and negative continued in every mind. The saints were discarded and the glitter-bitten kings chose business men as their kins and advisors. They believed in profits. They believed in time equated with profits. Time will never be spent for free ever again. Time will be spent, provided there are gains. Life became transactional. Relationships became transactional. Love became conditional. Rule became profit based. Power was with the business men. They also started creating rulers. Wars happened to satisfy the greed of man. Weapon manufacturers became the ones who decide the future of societies and countries. People assassinated people. People tortured and killed people. People were exploited. Everything was camouflaged and done in the name of religion and dharma!!! Man fell further and further in consciousness. His consciousness became demonic. Some people who lost everything in the bargain, had nothing further to lose and started rising up in consciousness. Higher masters held their hand and helped them to walk the wounded path. Some struggled and fell disillusioned. Some clung on to the faith and survived. The business man thought he is having the last laugh. But that was an illusion too. Time after time, the new replaced the old and the more cunning survived. They insensitively ravaged their very seat of power – The Mother Earth. The Mother watched the whole show in tears, helplessly. On her chest, men killed men, destroyed property and dug deep holes into the very existence of future generations. Greed for profits spilled the very guts of the Mother Earth. It imbalanced her very existence. Greed continued and profits justified all aberrations of man kind.

The Family Man

consciousness became Unitized. Family became his limit. No world Beyond...

Man shrunk. He became family oriented and started shrinking to responsibilities only related to his immediate family. His territory became his family. He became reasonably selfish. His whole world became himself and his family. This narrow mindedness and insensitiveness about others, glued his consciousness to the limits of his family. Poor man. Every blow in the harmony of his family affected his heart deeply. Expectations killed him. He often died heart broken.

The Social Man

Consciousness grew beyond his family to fill the society

The social man was a bit better. He also cared for his society and the poor and down trodden. Karl Marx provided wind to his wings and 20th century saw the fertile imaginations of many social people taking flights and organizing revolutions. Their intentions were good. They cared for people. Maybe only people. Still, it was better than gross insensitiveness and inertia. Yet, every society consists of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Each carved his own dimension into the social structure. In all these times, those who slipped into higher consciousness or those who could see beyond the box and dared to talk about what they see, were assassinated or eradicated. As human beings, we always despised those who chose to be different. We loved to burn challengers of our beliefs. We hated to think differently. We chose continuity of thoughts and beliefs. We have always been afraid of changes. Thus, the society killed Socrates, Jesus and many others, who were different and had the ability to show the light of higher consciousness, to the average man. We can be proud of our tenacity to stick to our path!!!

Society created Do’s and Don’ts. The society also created morality and acceptable code of conduct. Some society even created rigid morality and severe punishments for those who dis obeyed. Men started to pretend. Pretensions became the acceptable mode of existence. Pretensions entangled men further to social bindings. Some people live their whole life on pretensions and waste it completely. They pretend happiness, they pretend love, they pretend care, they pretend benevolence, they pretend spirituality, they pretend knowledge etc. Eventually, when they have to meet the reality, they would have already lost their life. This sad story gets repeated in every society, to many people. Yet, people refuse to get real and resort to their pretensions to gain social acceptance. Those few who dare to walk alone, stays liberated, despite social persecutions. Pretension is one thing that is definitely anti-spiritual.

Society created morality for the middle class. The rich and the poor had nothing to do with it. The middle class contains the most pretenders too. They are neither rich, nor poor. Since by nature, with erect spine, man likes to look above his eye level, they try to be what they are not. ( If you ask a child to write on the wall, he will write above his eye level. This is the nature of man) The more the morality, the more are violations too. Along with violations, gross suppressions also happen. Suppressions lead to restlessness. Social restlessness leads to calamities and revolution. Thus, the ignorance of man, combined with no effort to keep the hygiene of the inner world, makes our society a filthy alley.

The Cunning Man

The Fall of Man to Mediocrity further entangled him.

The cunning man always survived. He is street smart. He is intelligent. He is manipulative and well-spoken. He has beautiful presentation skills. He is selfish, but conceals that skillfully. He is handsome and effective. He is considered a good businessman. With the fall of consciousness, those who displayed their intellect in anyway possible, and those who successfully attracted money or power, were worshiped. Cunningness became a symbol of success. It was often re-named as strategy for success. We saw many cunning men, who effectively eradicated good and passive people and climbed up the ladders of material success. We made their statues and we honored them wherever possible.

The Political Man

Selfish Politicians became the biggest Liability to the common men of the world

The cunning man often left his business and opted power instead, or played the dual game. They played the game of politics and business simultaneously. Everything is fair in politics and war. They re-defined territories and walking spaces of the common man. Passive social men, who are often called  “donkeys” were led, mis-lead and, at convenience, manipulated to gain their ends. Political man blamed all the sufferings as inevitable in the path of ultimate freedom and independence. Generation after generation saw the same dish served in different ornamental plates. The donkey men were happy to see the changes in the plate and ignored the dish. As long as there is food, life goes on. So, suffering never ended. The promised freedom never happened. Political man changed his costumes time and again and appeared to appease the bonded minds with promises which they never meant to keep. All manipulations were called ‘strategic decisions’, which confused the social man. They knew that the best way to rule is to confuse. Faces changed. Confusions remained. Life went on. Dictators came and went. Wars came and went. Many got killed. Many survived. Life went on. Never was any politician punished by the law. The long hands of the law managed to reach only till the gates of the politician, but never dared to touch him. When the law got too close, he gave someone else to satisfy the hunger of the law and escaped from that situation. Law was applicable only to ordinary people. The rich politician had nothing to do with it. They were law makers. They have always been immune to law. Even when saints who guided generations to liberation were burnt at stake, politicians were never touched for even grosser crimes that they committed. History has seen this phenomenon consistently repeated time and again with every generation, since time began.

The God Man

God Men came as perpetual Road Signs - in the path of Liberation

There were a few God men, who stayed away from the eyes of the society, maintaining the higher consciousness and

Amongst Mediocre Existence, Jewels of Wisdom Happens

avoiding the contamination of the social life. Who ever came to the society out of compassion, were scandalized, ridiculed, imprisoned or even assassinated. Those who escaped the society, searched for the princes among the frogs. They had to kiss many frogs to get a few princes. They guided those true seekers and elevated them to the highest possible level of consciousness within the possible time. They left the rest to fight out their survival in the quagmire of lower consciousness. God men were very few, but, they helped balance the gross negativity. they often burnt themselves like candles. They served without expecting anything in return.

Negativity never needed any nurturing. It came uninvited, like the weed, and overtook the garden by force. It feasted on trees, plants and sometimes, even the gardener. Many fell. Some survived. Those who survived, showed the rest, the light of true existence and evolution. Some followed the light. Those who missed the glow and procrastinated, got dissolved in time.

Man who fell from super consciousness to the animal consciousness, is slowly climbing back up, step by step. The path is difficult. It is filled with thorns and danger. The luring and uncontrollable mind is the biggest danger. The ego and all identifications too. This journey of liberation is only possible through determination and awareness of the present. Those who get there will rejoice. Those who fall back, will come back, to try again.

The Types of Men

An ancient classification states:

Mineral Man – Selfish, Not interested in anyone else but himself. Usually Greedy and Self-centered.

Plant Man – Selfish to the extent of his family. He is not interested in anything else beyond his close family.

Animal Man – Selfish to the extent of his family and his community. He is not interested in anything beyond his community.

Human Man – Selfish to the extent of his family, his community and his country. He is not interested in any welfare beyond his country.

God Man – Selfless. He loves beyond all man-made barriers. He does not care of caste, creed, communities, countries, colors and classifications. He loves everyone just like the sun spreads its rays equally around, without discrimination. Man’s consciousness reaches its human zenith when he spontaneously becomes a “God Man” – a man beyond barriers.

Dharma of Existence

Who Buys Silence? We all are "Glitter Shoppers"

My Dear Brothers and Sisters

In a world where everyone talks and no one listens, I hate to add more sound. I always feel and am sure that I can do much more through my silence and being-ness rather than the movement, external articulation and doing-ness. People who can touch and feel silence deeply, from deep within their heart, can be elevated to the highest, this way. The gross minds with terrestrial and more physically tangible expectations will be terribly disappointed. Vomiting emotions indiscriminately and clinging on to habits and conditionings, they expect us to do miracles and liberate them.

Who will buy the intangible, even if it is the real?

We can wake up those who are sleeping. Can we wake up those who pretend to be asleep? People cannot stop accumulating garbage. Yet, they expect us to do the cleansing part. This is the way the world goes. Pretensions. Gross pretensions and unjustified expectations. Images, Words, Sounds, all proclaiming something sensory and tangible or “value for money” and people run after them. People sell people, their intellect and emotions. They cheat and kill. What can silence and subtlety do in a world of gross sounds and human – induced bitter agonies? When people refuse to give up, how can we give in? When people like to choose emotions rather than liberation, who visits our store? This being the truth, religiously, we open the shop everyday, irrespective whether anyone comes to buy or not. Some come out of curiosity and do not invest. They peep from outside and disappear. Some taste a little, never buy and leave after some time. Some stay for sometime and leave without even tasting. Very few make a purchase. Still, some do not use what they bought. Some abuse. Some discard. Out of a million of such window shoppers, perhaps only one strikes the deal. If the shop keeper lives with expectations, he will die a sad man. If he stays without expectations, he will not be affected. Anyways, that is not the story here. If you have the time, please read on….

We have already spoken about the eternal Sanatana Dharma or basic ground rules of existence. What follows are messages from the soul of our beloved Mother Earth. Let us spend a few minutes in introspection into our own conscience and see what we have done so far and what more we can do, to deliver a few more drops of fresh air into the parched lungs of the Mother. The Mother speaks…..

” My beloved children, you have been busy. Too busy to remember me. I know that. No complaints. I appreciate that you are busy. I see you emotional and always under tremendous stress. Your Father, the eternal Almighty, never wanted you to burn out like this. Remember, He, who is the creator and maintainer of the whole universe, is not as busy as you are!!! Please think about it. Why have you brought all these burdens onto yourself? Why are you killing your own kind? Why are you so angry? Remember, my children, all I gave you is nourishment and love. Had you been connected with my spirit, you would have never become so helplessly stressed out.  You still have time. Connect to my spirit, which is your spirit too, and see the same spirit in everything. They are all your brothers and sisters.”

Trees subtly sustains our existence

“My beloved children, my whole body consists of rivers, oceans, mountains and many expressions of life. There is a spirit in everything. Do not think that the tree outside your house is separate from you. The tree inhales what you exhale. And what the tree exhales is what you inhale. Can you see this subtle collaboration and deep love? You are inseparably connected, with the trees, plants, flowers and nature. You are existentially connected to all of them. Why do you isolate yourself from them? Why do you destroy trees? They are part of your own existence. What will you inhale if you break this eternal bond?? What will your children inhale? You are breaking the cycle of existence, my beloved children, please do not do that.”

“My children, your life is full of glory. You look exactly like your father. He is brilliance. He is the Almighty. He is always truly majestic and never subject to any kind of weaknesses. You are the same. He created the whole universe based on Dharma. Dharma of existence. Just like the trees collaborate with you for providing fresh air, and the lions help maintain the deer population, all beings contribute towards the smooth running of dharma. Dharma should not be disrupted. It should eternally flow. Dharma is eternal.”

Can we justify all our actions? If not, Beware.

History is filled with Human Atrocities

“Dharma is the expression of your father. We all exist in that. We have no life apart from that. Have you seen any lion killing for pleasure? Have you seen any bird sitting in the nest, lazy and procrastinating, when the day breaks? Have you seen the sun taking leave even for a day, since centuries? Have you seen any change in the system of life and death? Everything born must die. Killing to satisfy senses, anger, hatred or lust. This is against dharma. This will bring your downfall. When you inflict pain on others, similar pain will haunt your existence too. This is also part of dharma.

Your own people explained the theory of relativity. This is also an aspect of that. May your minds obsessed with science understand it that way. My children, beware, science should not make you insensitive. I have reasons to believe that it does. How many beings are you torturing and killing in your laboratories!!! It’s a shame, my children. Torture and killing of any other being amounts to accumulation of agonizing karma. Karma is the chain that makes you take physical bodies again and again. This will make you suffer similar pains and agony. Your sufferings of this life, has roots into similar acts by you, on others, in other lives. But, if nature used you to carry out its dharma, you will not suffer karma due to that. That means, when you walk, without your knowledge, if some ants die, it is part of their destiny and not your conscious doing. It will then be a different equation, if you add guilt to your thoughtless action or unmindful action. Then, you will suffer karmic undoing through suffering. If nature makes you an instrument, which it often does, you are only doing your dharma and never karma. So, do not worry about that. Karma is not punishment oriented. It is accountability oriented. You are accountable for all your deeds, including all thoughts, words and actions. Period. ”

Rivers Represents the Flow of Life

“My beloveds, a major portion of your body contains water. Water is sacred. All elements are sacred, because they have formed out of your father, the Lord Almighty. Everything is made out of pure spirit. You need to connect to the spirit behind all materials. So, respect water. Save water. Preserve water. Be sensitive towards water. You need good water to stay healthy. Your ancestors were able to drink water from any river and stay healthy. River water was so healthy at one time. Can you do the same? You have contaminated the rivers of the world. You have contaminated the oceans too. You will fall sick if you drink water from your neighboring river. My beloved children, your greed for profits and unconscious living has brought much harm onto yourself. You are existentially connected to the water and those rivers. You are deeply related. Why did you poison and contaminate them? You are deeply related to the flowing rivers. Your life is also flowing. Time is flowing, existence is flowing. Look at the rivers and learn to flow without attachments, unconditionally. Rivers have lots to teach you, the most important of all is its very nature of being unconditional, the very nature of your father.”

Tat Twam asi - Thou Art That

“My children, you are only visitors here. You will depart one day. You cannot own anything here. There is only one owner – the Lord Almighty. Everything belongs to Him. Everything is formed out of Him and everything will dissolve back to Him. He could withdraw this whole drama anytime he feels like. By the way,  why are YOU agitated? Why are you resisting everything? Since you do not know the whole story of any existence, let alone yours, why are you so determined to change things? What can you change, when you do not know the reason of any event in your life?? If you feel you are all powerful, tell me – Can you change your heart beat? Can you change your blood circulation – or maybe reverse it for a change? Can you stop breathing? Can you stop eating? Drinking water? What can you change? Only one thing – your inner world. You can choose to fill your inner world with goodness and pure love instead of anger, hatred, revenge and venom. That will also make your outside world look more beautiful and positive. This is the least you can do for yourself.”

“Understand that your father gave you the power to understand your true

Express Your Self. Express Love

nature and also to understand Him. No other being walking on my body has that capacity. Why are you then behaving like the lesser beings? You should be behaving like your father, who is infinitely kind and compassionate. You should be expressing His nature, complete love and compassion, without discrimination. He is wholesome. He is ever complete. You divided and made things look seemingly micro. He is absolute and infinite. You made yourself look, seem and feel finite. Your father is always surprised at your choosing limitedness. He never interferes, you see. He leaves you to live your life.  He has faith in you and believes that one day, you will re assume your unlimited-ness and come back to Him. He is waiting. He is happy and thrilled when you express His nature of selfless compassion and unconditional love. He is sad when you express negativity, anger, hatred and silly emotions of an average terrestrial being. Keep Him happy, express pure LOVE. You will see the difference happening in yourself.”

We Create our Destiny

“My children, We have a common destiny. My destiny is linked with yours and yours with mine. We are not separate from each other. When you contaminate the same source that you came from, reactions are inevitable. This is not my choice. This is my destiny. Yours too. This is natural with my sickness. All the calamities that you see on my surface are inevitable, because, I am tired. I am sick. Your mother has become seriously ill. My body is reacting to the poisons that has been pumped into me since years. Your advancement has been at the cost of my health. Are you aware of that? It is true. All your fleeting prosperity and profits have been at the cost of my health. When I sigh or pant in pain, storms and floods are your experience. How can I help it? I am helpless, my children. You are born out of me. You are myself. I have given birth to millions of bodies over millions of years. Now, I am tired.  It is time for me to be re born. Those of you who will connect to my spirit, which is the spirit of existence, will survive the change. Those of you still immersed in senses, mind and intellect; fleeting glories, competition with one another and material profits, will wake up to uneasy realities sooner or later. Never tell me that I did not warn you. Save yourself while you can.”

“Changes are always not negative. They are inevitable. Changes mean evolution. Nothing ever stays the same in your father’s

Time Means Change

creation. Dynamism is the core of creation. It never stayed the same in the past and will never stay the same in the future too. Otherwise, you will not be here. You will not be here without the evolution and change. Karma cannot take place at all.”

“My children, treat all things as spirit. All are made out of that. Realize that all are one spirit. Me – the earth, plants and trees, water, air, the sun, moon and the stars, birds and animals, you – all came out of one spirit. All one spirit. Do not worry about death. Death is not the end. There is no end. Life is an evolution. Constant evolution. It never stops. There is no need to worry. So, my children, be kind to yourself, and to others around you. My blessings are always with you. I love you and always loved you, even when you never understood and felt my spirit. How can a mother not love her own children? I have always been waiting for you to know and understand the ultimate truth of existence. I do not have much life left now. Before I withdraw, I had to tell you this. I Love all my children alike. I have no favorites. Your father also loves all His creations alike. Close your eyes and feel us. You will understand this truth. I love YOU.”
